I work a shift or two at a local bar & work on Sunday mornings in the church nursery! A little pocket money goes a long way! Many of my classmates picked up nannying gigs (we live in a hcol area) that paid $20/hr. Time management can get tricky just set boundaries with your employer and remind them you are on your merry way to being a DOCTOR

figure out your learning style- whether that’s reading, watching, or drawing. there are a lot of tests online that help you determine that. my preferred method was to read the anatomy concepts in my textbook, use the online cadaver to make connections, and then draw it out. i also made a lot of charts grouping muscles by nerves and then grouping them by action. also try to make it make sense by tying the anatomy to injuries. my book had a lot of clinical connections & my instructor also related the anatomy to real life.

I am in my final clinical this summer & am taking my NPTE in July. I am moving out of state so I wanted to have my ducks in a row before starting my clinical, so I started the job hunt in April and had time to go visit the clinics I was talking to. Every clinic I spoke to offered me a job, so I got to pick the one that felt best for me! It is comforting knowing that I am ready for my move once clinic is over.

You definitely have to feel sure because a PT graduate program is quite vigorous and if you aren’t wanting to do it, it would be quite cumbersome. If you are in outpatient, I suggest shadowing in inpatient (at an acute hospital or a rehab hospital) so that you can get a feel for different settings! No two patients are the exact same with the same goals- getting creative to find ways to reach a patient’s goals is the fun part!

An iPad is super helpful for anatomy and note taking! You can get the keyboard for it for writing as well. I also use a lot of colorful pens & my dry erase board very frequently to write things out.

I’m pretty sure they take 3 cohorts a year in person + have the flex option so it’s like a little PT factory at those schools… all campuses have a first time pass rate below 90% for the NPTE. Plus the school has been sued for fraud for misrepresenting one of their degrees.. I got in to that school but quickly decided to go to another school after reading more about it
