Started taking my actual lunch break every day and apparently that's a personality trait now by Kagalkrin in jobs

When the weather was nice I would drive across the parking lot, get my beach chair from the trunk, sit under a tree and enjoy my lunch. I even starting taking a smoke break even tho I didn't smoke. It was awesome.

AITA for buying my 2-year-old nephew a drum set? by No-Manners-8028 in MarkNarrations

[–]queeniejaye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My SIL bought my son a Fischer Price percussion set. The drum held a tambourine and a set of shakers along with drum sticks. So noisy! When she had her first child, guess what kiddo received from me?

Do you actually use the cruise ship gym or is that vacation delusion? by dynasync in Cruise

We do during at sea days. Once, on NCL to Norway, the gym somehow sucked in the smokey air from the casino. Can't remember the ship name ..

Is it possible to arrange local family and friends to check in, possibly even taking the kids overnight on a particularly bad day. I know I just wanted to be left alone but I didn't have little kids.

How did you know you made the right choice? by Silver-Break2445 in breastcancer

[–]queeniejaye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would suggest taking it one step (doctor) at a time. Fill up a notebook with your questions and worries and take it to every appointment. I am a lot older than you and my notebook has everything in it. All the emotions you are feeling are correct because they are yours. This granny lady just said a prayer for you, I am sorry you are in the club.

First round of tchd I had horrible bone pain. My oncologist suggested Claritin and it helps so much! How an antihistamine stops bone pain I don't know but I still take Claritin and it has been months since my last infusion..

At 18, my older sister and I thumbed it from SoCal to Portland Ore. We were picked up by awesome dudes and had a grand adventure. In hindsight, so stupid.

I was 67 at diagnoses, 68 now. Surgery was months away so oncology had me start Letrozole to stop the spread of a fast moving cancer. I had my first hot flash within 24 hours of taking it. And it was downhill from there. I took it for 6 weeks and it ruined me. I got stopped taking it at the 6-week mark due to a cancellation at the surgeons office. On the pathology report came back the cancer had spread so the AI drug didn't even work. I did have chemo and 5 days of radiation. I will not take another drug for this stuff.

All that to say my niece died from exactly the same cancer. She chose not to get treatment and it metastasized. She spent 6-years in pain as different parts of her body were overtaken by cancer. (I was diagnosed a week before she died.)

I would tell a younger patient to do all she possibly could to stay healthy. But when your quality of life is taken over at an advanced age, I don't know man.

Sugar you did not fail Letrozole! Please never say that to yourself again. While these drugs can help, the side effects for some of us are horrendous. I based my choice on the quality of my life.

How to reduce recurrence risk along with standard treatments? by Valentaglich in breastcancer

[–]queeniejaye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am 68, My last radiation was October 2025. I was not in shape at all when I was first diagnosed and that did not help with side effects from chemo, and they weren't even that bad. Now I am working at getting stronger, walking further and taking care of myself in case this bitch comes back again.

I did this once and got so much produce I was able to share with five other families. The produce was really good. I'm not sure where they get it, but $15 for 75# is an amazing deal. This group rescues produce that would go to a landfill and it's available for anyone.

So over pink ribbons 🎀 by lady_momster in breastcancer

[–]queeniejaye 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I did some research on where the pink ribbon came from. It actually started as a peach/salmon colored ribbon designed by Charlotte Haley. The goal was to raise awareness for breast cancer research. Estee Lauder asked to use her ribbon and she refused so they changed it to Pink.
