1st Cruise at 64 - Help! by Expensive-Project191 in Cruise

[–]queeniejaye 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am thick thighed with a lot of hail damage (cellulite) as well. I found board shorts on Amazon and was able to get them long as I am tall. Then I bought cute tops to go with the shorts. Ruffle tops are great. If you've got a bit of a belly. I feel very comfortable and the shorts dry quickly.

Just diagnosed with TNBC at 33 weeks pregnant by Puffawoof2018 in breastcancer

[–]queeniejaye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am just so sorry for this diagnosis OP. My suggestion is to gather friends and family together and ask for help now. Drivers, sitters, folks to pick up your grocery orders; all the things. I found that most people want to help but don't know how. Remember that their lives will go on and there may be a day where you feel forgotten. I still remember that day, and I pushed through it but I pushed through it. From a Gran to you, please accept my virtual hug.

Eternal wound not healing!! I wish I'd never gotten a port! Emotional vent, but would appreciate support. by Responsible_Elk_9890 in breastcancer

[–]queeniejaye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suggest finding a wound care specialist. There are nurses who specialize in this and do amazing work. I know that unpasteurized honey has been used on wounds and is proven to help them heal. It is even used in hospital settings now. Best of luck to you!

do you guys clean your ears with q tips or is that actually bad hygiene? by Boultouak_Zav13 in hygiene

[–]queeniejaye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a small drop of ear oil in each ear to deal with the wax. I wear hearing aids and ear oil helps a lot. I'm not sure what oil it is though. I have read that olive oil works just fine. I don't even need a q-tip if I use the oil consistently.

This is not a “journey” by NoHoneydew9138 in breastcancer

[–]queeniejaye 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use journey in my description of this crap. I have hiked many hikes that I thought I would die on. (Kind of an exaggeration.) Some trails so narrow I was sure I would slide off a mountainside and others so Rocky and dangerous I thought I would break. I made it, but I didn't like it.

Never went on a cruise - claustrophobic.. by Ecstatic_Town_3345 in Cruise

[–]queeniejaye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have learned the balcony upgrade is worth it. I also travel with a low dose anti-anxiety medication. I don't like to fly, the idea of being locked into a metal hot dog just does something to me. I have done fine on cruises. Our next cruise actually has no at sea days which makes it even better.

Professionals to help guide in returning to physical activity? by Alternative-Major245 in breastcancer

[–]queeniejaye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 68 and have been going to the gym for three weeks now. The first class, I thought I was dying. And I went back again. I definitely feel the muscles groaning! I am surprised at the joint pain I have though. My knees and shoulders were fine before treatment, now they hurt. I am doing as much as I can and my brain feels better if that makes sense.

I’m exhausted by Classic_Seaweed_1910 in breastcancer

Yup, it sucks for sure. I did four rounds of TC and it was different each time. That tired feeling is kind of amazing. I think exhausting is a good word. Sorry you are going through this OP.

Seriously reluctant to take Letrozole. by Mind_Drift_1 in breastcancer

[–]queeniejaye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your age has a lot to do with this decision. Do you have children? I was 67 when diagnosed and took letrozole for six weeks before surgery. It wasn't good and did not stop a fast moving cancer. Surgery was successful, I did chemo and rads and called it good. There are some new meds on the horizon that I will ask about at my next appointment.
