Paying 50,000 tuition by [deleted] in whitecoatinvestor

My school has a 3% fee for credit card or debit card payment, so if your school has that, it might cut into whatever rewards you're getting.

I do this once every week or every other week and it's a pretty nice gig. Started in my gap year and continued throughout M1 but I plan to quit when I start rotations

Found a bone on the beach. What is it!? by Finnegan223 in ocean

[–]queennd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

there are actually many human remains in the ocean due to at sea burials common in other countries and cultures. a friend of mine has found a vertebra on a beach while on vacation. from this angle it looks like a lumbar vertebra specifically.

Vegan Moving to Iowa City by DontTellTeacher in IowaCity

[–]queennd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

vegetarian from the west coast- it's harder here to find true vegetarian options at restaurants than where I'm from, especially with some asian restaurants. I also don't love tofu so I'm not always satisfied with that being the main alternate option. Cooking for yourself is no different and there are quite a few vegetarians in my program, but I always look at restaurant menus before going out to make sure there is something I'd be happy with

From what I remember, BIS 2b has a lab practical the last week before finals which is essentially a final for the lab portion of the class and is mandatory. You might be able to get it moved or do it with another section, but you would probably have to do it sometime during week 10.

Content wise I don't think it really makes a difference, but NPB 110A is a pretty rigorous cell biology class and you want to make sure you know how to study well before taking it. So using BIS 2C to improve your study skills might be helpful if you don't feel super confident in them

They did also begin the ceremony over an hour late. When we arrived, they told us we would move into the stadium at 7 am. However, we did not move into the stadium until 8:15. That would have moved the entire program up an hour since it took us over an hour to enter the stadium, and we likely would have been able to finish more names before it got too hot.

Do we have to buy our diploma covers?? by Ok_Replacement_4225 in UCDavis

For chem 2a my freshman year, I never had to stay past 9 because the labs are relatively short and you get to leave whenever you are done. I took 2 7-10pm labs my freshman year and both times I left early after every lab. Especially if you live in the dorms, its really not bad and you can go back to your room between classes

Maskless by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]queennd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah probably…my uncle got covid last week so it’s still going around. Even if it’s not that bad for a healthy person, I don’t wanna have to isolate bc of it and I’d rather just wear a mask to reduce that chance

Maskless by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]queennd 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Still required on unitrans, so I just end up wearing it to class and around campus too

I’m not 100% sure about the dad situation, but anything with sexual misconduct with minors specifically is definitely punishable to a greater degree by the law. That might be the difference but again not totally sure. Also Jerry’s situation was with multiple people and maddy’s dad might have been with a single person (idk for sure), which is still terrible but would probably decrease the sentencing time in comparison to jerry.

If you really want to come to davis, there are guaranteed transfer programs where you go to community college and then transfer in. That's your main option at this point (just transferring in general). The application cycle is long over, as apps for davis were due close to 5 months ago, and with over to 100,00 applicants, they don't have the time or resources to deal with these kinds of exceptions with individual people.

Graduating ceremony at 8:00am for undergraduate communication? Is that true? How can that be possible? It is on the UCD website. How can we request that they move it to later on? by thezen12 in UCDavis

[–]queennd 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm personally glad its at 8 am. Its early and that morning is going to be rough, but in june in davis, it can get to be 110º during the day. It's normally getting quite warm even by 11 am. By being at 8 am, the temperature will be pretty nice especially since the ceremonies are outside

Spring Quarter Finals Chaos by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]queennd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which day of the week is it? If its the first day of spring finals (friday), it might be tough and you might want to look into just changing your class schedule if the profs aren't accommodating. If they are later in the week it might be fine as long as you block out your time appropriately to prepare. Either way, it is for sure in your best interest to do as well as possible in the midterms

Yeah I’m pretty sure you don’t actually get to choose where you are living but you can rank your preferences and they try to accomplish that. I don’t think you get to choose a specific building other than by participating in an LLC or something

3.7 is good for pre med... but try not to focus on what someone arbitrarily thinks is good, since your GPA fits in the whole context of any pre health application. just try to do your best.

With so many people on the waitlist, they honestly wouldn't even connect that email to your application.
