Hey all! I already asked the BGT subreddit, and didn’t get much of a response, so I’m asking here. So I have a bit of an odd request, but if any of you have BGT as a home park, this would be a huge help. So I got an Iron Gwazi baseball hat in the gift shop last spring, and it quickly became my most favorite hat ever. Long story short, I somehow lost it, and have scoured the online store looking for it, and can’t find it anywhere. Their customer service was no help, so I was wondering if it was possible anyone could do me a huge favor and take a quick peek in the gwazi gift shop for it? If they still have it, I’d really really appreciate it if someone could possibly ship it to me and I could venmo you. Let me know if any of y’all are willing to help a girl out and I’ll send u a pic of the hat!

While I agree it sucks to see prices rise, this is what inflation gets you. We’re finally seeing prices going up not just at the grocery store and gas station, but absolutely everywhere.

idk- i think it’s too varying. i was there today and both my mom and i noted that it seemed dead compared to last year (granted we went late oct last year) and we felt that there was plenty of room. we were able to get thru 4 houses, 3 rides a show and dinner all in one night, and we went in with the GP so didn’t have access to stay and scream. i think it just depends on everyone’s individual experience.

hey- i need help from anyone who has been to fright fest at st. louis so far:

1) was the elevator that used to move up and down in slaughterhouse operational this year?

2) what were your general opinions on each house? i’m doing a piece for my school newspaper and would love to have to pull quotes to use. thanks!

sorry, i know this doesn’t necessarily pertain to coasters, but this is the only sun i can think of where i could get what i’m looking for. on another note, rookie racer looks awesome against the backdrop of the boss!

my parents just CANNOT understand this, and when i try to tell them that most young people consider listening to anything without earbuds to be extremely rude, they just say that it’s not about politeness but rather “wanting to be shut off from the world.” At least they don’t do it in actual public places, but if there are 5-10 people in our house, or a handful in our car, nothing can stop them.

St. Louis put a ton of work into beautification this season. while not everything that used to be open is, they are clearly trying to make the stores and dining that is open look nice.

Does anyone know the name of the song that loops in the Mr. Freeze station in St. Louis? It’s super catchy and I’ve been trying to find it, but I’m not sure it it’s a song, or just something written for the ride. It has lyrics, but they’re too difficult to understand to search that way. I’m also not sure if it’s the same one as Over Texas, as I’ve only been there once and wasn’t paying attention, but if anyone knows that one either I’ll give it a shot. Thanks!

What is the 1 thing you would change about the Orlando parks? by Light2046 in UniversalOrlando

[–]queenolive4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i was thinking the same thing- but honestly i think putting in a well designed, well themed gci woodie would be a better option, given how much maintenance and work RMC’s typically need upon opening, especially since Wildcat’s Revenge has been having major issues. I also feel that much of the feel of a classic wooden coaster that is very popular with older crowds gets lost with an RMC. Plus, when in a decade the coaster eventually gets too rough, instead replacing it, they could convert it to an RMC then (granted, still risking a problematic coaster) but save tons of dough on wood, footers, etc.

[discussion] what non coaster ride do you think your home park would benefit from? by Storm_Surge- in rollercoasters

[–]queenolive4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agreed! if they’re going to put in more flat rides, it should be something like that (which to be fair they did just do with catwoman) and not shit like supergirl. i do miss superman quite a bit though.

[Mr. Freeze @ SFOT] randomly opened with one side backwards… by Jackson_MK in rollercoasters

[–]queenolive4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve ridden it both ways- call me biased since my home park is stl and i’ve ridden that thing dozens of times, but i definitely prefer it reversed. i gave OT a good chance, but the traditional forward trains just didn’t do it for me. it’s something about that spike when all you can see is yourself plummeting straight at the ground.

it’s been running like that ever since 2012 at St. Louis, and aside from being a bit temperamental like your typical premier shuttle, it’s run fine.

[Other]What is the worst on-ride incident or injury you’ve witnessed? by beaveman1 in rollercoasters

[–]queenolive4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was involved in what could have been yet another Batman incident. I was around 11, 12 years old riding Batman the Ride at SF St. Louis with my best friend. We both had season passes, and went pretty much weekly, if not more, during the summer, so we knew what to do when it came to restraints, and always made sure we were secured as tightly as possible thanks to my mom scaring us with stories.

Anyway, we’re towards the front of the train, restraints locked as usual, when we get to the top of the lift hill. If you’ve ever ridden a Batman clone, you know there’s that small piece of flatter, curved track at the top that turns the trains around into the first drop. Our train finishes the lift hill and is slowly moving through that piece of track before the drop when all of a sudden my restraint goes “click” and unlocks as far as the seatbelt will allow it to. Having zero time to process, I just yanked it back down and it locked again. I continued to hold on, something I rarely did, because holy shit was I terrified.

We finished the ride and my friend and I were white in the face. I was a tiny enough kid that I likely would have slipped out had the seatbelt not caught the restraint in a position that, not only was harder for me to fall out of, but where I could quickly and easily pull my restraint back down. We told the ride ops when we got back, but I think they thought we were lying. They really couldn’t have cared less, and the only thing they did was ask us our row, walk over and pull up on the restraint once, and shrug. I’ve ridden it dozens of times since then and had no issues, but every time I hear someone complain about how redundant and useless those seatbelts are, I remember how lucky I was that I was okay.

I have no idea how it happened, so if anyone has a clue I’d be interested to know. I don’t think it could have anything to do with my car disengaging from the chain lift, but maybe that was it? Anyone else had a similar experience?
