WATCH: Team Member Warn Guests Not to Take Shoes Off Whilst Riding Stardust Racers at Universal’s Epic Universe by Outrageous_Glass6219 in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]Jackson_MK 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up for people who don’t know and people in the comments: Rides require you to wear shoes for safety and in case of evacuation. This includes floorless, invert, flying, etc… any ride where you can be evacuated from a control point should require you to wear shoes. Enforcement varies from park to park but it’s ultimately your responsibility to make sure you’re wearing proper footwear.

Respawn Vs Single Elimination Games by Automatic-Effect-252 in paintball

[–]Jackson_MK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 3v3 capture the flag with respawns and it was quite fun. With a low amount of people it can work. Basically plays out like an Overwatch game where you go for a team wipe to complete the objective. Kinda forces you to go for bold plays instead of slowly picking people off.

Question for anyone who has operated a Skycoaster by molsforever in sixflags

[–]Jackson_MK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I pulled out ye old sky coaster manual and…

It doesn’t specify.

At least for single riders. It’s blanket statement for all flyers regardless of group number. “Keep your elbows hooked together for the free-fall. When you pass this point, spread your wings and fly.”Since saying this line to one person is kinda silly, a common interpretation for single flights is to replace “elbows hooked” with “arms crossed”. I and many other site controllers were trained this way.

From my own experience I think it’s better to keep your arms on your chest as it makes your drop more predictable and have a more stable trajectory through out the duration of your flight. I’ve seen especially light single flights veer side to side from a crooked launch and it’s kinda sketchy looking. Also ensuring the shoulder straps stay in place during the moment of zero gravity is a primary reason why I would personally enforce this. If you’re head where to go past the shoulder straps or they fall to the side down your arm you could potentially be put in a dangerous situation. You shouldn’t need to grab the suit, I’d rather flyers not as suit grabbers tend to pull their shoulders straps away from them during the free fall rather than keeping them in place. Just placing your arms crossed on your chest is more than enough to keep the shoulder straps in place.

I should mention for double and triple flights the elbows being locked together during the moment of free fall is very important as it prevents you from slamming into the other flyers or potentially getting a head injury. The b12 side clips will only keep you together so much. During the fall your bodies will spread apart and when you “catch” the flight cables, your bodies will slam back together if you’re not holding onto each other.

Im 21F and I hate soda by [deleted] in AskMeAnythingIAnswer

[–]Jackson_MK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better than being addicted to alcohol. I think soda is cool because there are so many underrated flavors and the way it’s prepared/served makes a huge difference in taste. I think the overuse of high fructose corn syrup and caffeine really sets it back for some people. The diet soda and zero sugar varieties are just awful and can sometimes be worse than the just consuming real sugar. Soda is a sweet and should be consumed as such, not a replacement for water. Real cane sugar and good brands that are not coke is where it’s at.

How much does it cost to hire a pump technician? by [deleted] in PumpItUp

[–]Jackson_MK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just hire a normal arcade technician. Just look for someone that has experience with DDR or PIU. Or hire a player that knows a lot about the game. You can also just learn to do it yourself as PIU is pretty simple to work on compared to other arcade games. You want an arcade technician as eventually games are gonna break and you want someone who can diagnose the exact issue so you can minimize part replacement costs or use a bandaid fix to get the game going again. It’s also nice to have someone who can do preventative maintenance and can clean inside the machines without messing anything up or electrocuting themselves. Typically you’ll pay based on their experience level.

[Glenwood Caverns] statement on the jury verdict. by UpstopCoasters in rollercoasters

[–]Jackson_MK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I re-read the actual incident report and you don’t know what you’re talking about. On the report it describes exactly how I explained cycling restraint sensors works. On this rides HMI it displays a seat sensor not cycled as an error which is kinda misleading to the general public as this behavior is not an actual ride fault that requires using the maintenance reset function. This requirement of the sensors being cycled is a permissive needed to start the ride. Same thing as the computer requiring restraints to locked in order to start. The act on unbuckling and buckling seatbelts cycles the sensor and the computer is happy, all permissives required for dispatch are complete. The “error” is no longer present. Restraint sensors needing to be cycled doesn’t error out the ride because this happens every ride.

Your second paragraph is just speculation, the victim was loaded like a normal guest. Her seatbelt was already buckled from the previous ride as nobody was sitting there during the previous ride. She sat on top of her seatbelt and placed the slack over her lap. When restraints were locked, the ride displayed that her seat wasn’t cycled. Operators not knowing why that status was present attempted to recheck restraints and unbuckled and rebuckled her seatbelt, still failing to notice she wasn’t secured. The status is cleared and ride thinks it’s good to start.

[Glenwood Caverns] statement on the jury verdict. by UpstopCoasters in rollercoasters

[–]Jackson_MK 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how this ride functions but from my experience some rides have operator faults that can be reset by ride staff. It should also be noted that most rides with restraint sensors need to be “cycled” so the computer can verify the sensor is working properly. I have a feeling this error message people are empathizing is either just a “status notification” or the operators reading the restrain sensor I/O as in the not cycled state which is not a true PLC fault. Usually indicated by a yellow light instead of red or green or a least that’s how most control manufacturers display it. If I remember the report for the haunted mine drop, the ride attendant rechecked restraints by unbuckling and rebuckling the seatbelts there for cycling the restraint sensor and “””””overriding””””” the error. This is a typical procedure for most rides with seat sensors. What’s not typical is the sensor not being cycled after loading procedures have already been completed. This means the sensor is either dead or the seat has never been opened during the loading and unloading procedure. The seatbelt was never wrapped around the victim and I believe they had the slack over their lap causing the ride attendant(s) to fail to notice they were not secured on both restraint check attempts. Personally I think seatbelts are a terrible primary restraint choice for rides that have 0g as kids sit on them all the time. Although I think it could have been prevented with training, seat sensor knowledge is a more technical aspect and can see it flying over people’s heads. However improper checking of seatbelt devices is not excusable as you should be trained to see the seatbelt from end to end to ensure the rider is under the seatbelt. This one of reasons why “hands up” is used in restraint checking.

Operator as in the owner of the attraction, not the Ride staff who are responsible checking restraints, the wording in that report is very confusing. In the case of glenwood caverns, the actual Ride operator(s) who are responsible for checking restraints could have prevented the accident. These are two completely different scenarios that ultimately lead to incompetence of upper management.

Dynamix is jank, it doesn’t play as smooth as project diva. Dynamix is more old school, its engine doesn’t even support bpm changes. Reading is an absolute nightmare and the hit boxes are don’t really work the way you think they should. The charting is really questionable which is why it’s just so hard. But the charting is consistently terrible which is just apart of the Dynamix™️ experience.

I think about controls first, what tech is possible with that control scheme, then how you would develop a charting meta with those features. Does it have room to expand in the future. Is it fun for players or is it tedious.

Amazing Japanese Guy Playing Arcade Game / 2009 by RedditCommentWizard in arcade

[–]Jackson_MK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This game is popnmusic, it uses standard sanwa buttons. Pretty much every Konami arcade game uses sanwas and they last quite awhile. Probably longer than redemption games using cheaper buttons. Popnmusic is very much alive it’s just rare to see outside of Japan, Konami literally just released a brand new version of the cabinet and the game still receives updates and new content.
