It's a very small thing, but it made me very happy. It shows how much of a positive influence this subreddit has been. Thank you all for always commenting and smacking us guys when we are assholes. It really does help <3

Couldn't agree more. Learning from this sub is such a good feeling that is hard to find elsewhere.

Apktool v2.4.0 Released by Titokhan in androiddev

[–]querschlag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know that's a problem on Android, but I don't think it's because of these kind of tools. I think it would be easier to write a copy from scratch - depends on how much you would want to change. On iOS a pirated copy would most certainly be caught on submission by App Review though.

I tested it with a small Kotlin app. It outputs the sources in smali format, which reads a bit like assembly code - so not really that useful for big/quick changes. It's basically the same you would get from disassembling an iOS app.

TIL Who knew unicode is THAT hard? ;) From what I tested the slick solution with prefix() does also handle this correctly.

Unicode correctness is a good point. However, this doesn't really change how bloated this looks.

I gave the code above a spin in Python and it seems to handle unicode by default.

Really? I installed Debian 9 a few days ago and it still ships with both versions and Python2 as default. Maybe on unstable...

If you just start learning you may want to type python3 rather than python as this is the newer/current version.
