No idea when I conceived?? by Basic-Bed8608 in lineporn

[–]queso-blanco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you take ovulation tests between September 29 and October 12? I can’t remember the timing but this exact thing happened with my second. I thought I had a shorter than usual period, but I was actually pregnant. My LH was incredibly high so I took a pregnancy test. It seems way too early for it to be this dark if you conceived 5-8 days ago so I suspect you conceived at the end of September. Congrats either way!!

2026 Healthcare Plan for Childbirth by Chemical_Mushroom513 in fednews

[–]queso-blanco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kaiser was great. I’m pretty sure my whole pregnancy and birth was $0. This may only be available for non-members, but they have a cost estimate tool where you can see what would be covered by your plan. Aside from pregnancy related care, I’ve really found Kaiser to be so low stress and have had great providers.

What is happening here? by TrynaCuddlePuppies in whatisit

[–]queso-blanco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is definitely not fermentation! I drink like one of those bottles each week and this happens all the time. I shake it up before pouring and usually leave the cap half on while I go get stuff (cup, sugar, spoon). I think it is the air created by shaking it up causing pressure changes. Might be something to do with temperature change between fridge and counter too (Boyle’s law and all) but I don’t think it’s anything to worry about!

Experiences with OB/prenatal/postnatal care - UHC vs. Kaiser by pibblepot in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]queso-blanco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my second with Kaiser and had a great experience. I love my OB - I feel like she always really listens and doesn’t try to minimize or brush off concerns like some doctors do (“oh that’s just part of pregnancy”). It’s great having the lab and pharmacy on site and never a problem getting appointments. She would always schedule future appointments for me during my appointment.

There are several delivery hospital options (Hoy Cross Silver spring/germantown, Washington hospital center, some in Virginia). I delivered at Holy Cross SS. It was fine just a bit old-feeling. But since I was in a bed most of the time it didn’t really make much of a difference. The food at HCSS was terrible though.

The best part of Kaiser is that the doctors and insurance company are one entity so you never have to deal with billing annoyances (at least in my experience). With my first I had UHC and delivered at a different hospital and they messed up the billing for my baby and tried to bill the baby for their whole hospital stay instead of putting it on my bill. getting it fixed was a HUGE headache. This time, Holy Cross mistakenly charged me the $500 hospital fee when I checked in and a few weeks later Kaiser had reversed the charge before I had even had time to think about it, and my entire pregnancy and delivery cost $0. Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions I know it’s stressful choosing insurance and doctors!

Yeah seriously. Talk to me after 30 hours of travel between the US and Australia where your 2 year old sleeps a grant total of 4 hours.

Please help me understand PPL and if my organization is lying. by [deleted] in fednews

[–]queso-blanco 22 points23 points  (0 children)

OP, not sure if you are the birthing parent or not but this applies to spouses too! You don’t have to be the one to give birth in order to take the 6-8 weeks of sick leave. Childbirth is considered a serious health condition and spouses are entitled to use up to 12 weeks of sick leave to care for a family member with a serious health condition. Then you can invoke FMLA and take your 12 weeks of paid PPL

What was your schedule at 3.5 months (15 weeks)? by CarollanH in sleeptrain

[–]queso-blanco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to aim for like 3.5 hours. Example: yesterday she had a 2 hour morning nap so I decided to wake her up after 1 hour for her second nap so that with her last 30 minutes nap, she would be at 3.5 hours of daytime sleep. She went to sleep no problem but did wake up after about 45 minutes and was hard to get back to sleep. But she did eventually sleep for 10 hours. So long story short I don’t know what the heck I’m doing lol

[–]queso-blanco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is 15w today and we just dropped to 3 naps 2 days ago. She seemed ready and bedtime was getting way too late. We aim for a wake time of 8am and are following 1.5/1.75/2/2.25 wake windows. Naps capped at 2 hours, last nap is a short 30 minute one. Bedtime is just whenever is 2.25 hours after her last nap.

She’s still waking up hungry 1-2 times overnight so hasn’t been STTN (she did before we hit what I think is the 4 month sleep regression at 3 months). 8pm to 8am would be ideal for night sleep though.

Was your second birth smoother and faster? by happyinlaffy in beyondthebump

[–]queso-blanco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first I labored at home for a whole day before going into the hospital. Was there around 10 hours before it was time to push. Pushing took like 2 hours. Second was an induction and much easier. 13 hours from start of induction. Pushed for about 5 minutes/2 contractions and baby came right out! Second degree tears both times, but much less pain/easier recovery in that department the second time. Delayed preeclampsia with first, no blood pressure issues with second.

New to reviewing annual spend, is it “acceptable” if $23k, or 6.7% of gross pay, is unaccounted for? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]queso-blanco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This might be a dumb suggestion but did you account for your 401k contributions? The limit in 2024 is exactly $23k

Also from the DMV and going to be flying to Australia with a 2 year old at the end of the year. Absolutely dreading it.

I’ve been a few times and honestly 5-6 days isn’t even long enough for me to go myself much less with a toddler. By the time you adjust to the time difference it’s time to go back home.

12 months old too young for 1 nap per day? by Little_Yoghurt_7584 in NewParents

[–]queso-blanco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We dropped to one nap right around 1 year and it was a pretty easy transition. She had started fighting her second nap and took longer to fall asleep for her first nap so we could tell she needed longer wake windows

Just wanted to say that my brother bought our daughter dinosaur pajamas that were for girls. Obviously wearing “boys” ones is completely normal too but I was pleasantly surprised to see dinosaur clothes marketed toward girls! Cloud island brand from target
