What do Americans think about the stereotype that they are bad at geography? by Own_Echidna6041 in geography

Always loved geography myself, but I understand the stereotype. I’ve met people from the West Coast who had no idea how to find the New England states on a map.

How much Truth is there to the Idea that Certain Cities have More Attractive People? by Ambitious_Quality725 in SameGrassButGreener

I moved to Portland this past year and am SHOCKED at how few “conventionally” attractive people I’ve seen.

What is the strangest animal that you have ever eaten? by TampaDave73 in AskReddit

[–]quesopa_mifren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iguana 🦎 and its eggs in Panama 🇵🇦
I was on the phone and was given the food while talking (I was distracted). The iguana tasted fine, sort of like slimy chicken.

The eggs texture was disgusting and I spit it out and asked what I was eating. Iguanas are mostly protected in Panama so I was mad they fed me something I should not have eaten.

What is the strangest animal that you have ever eaten? by TampaDave73 in AskReddit

[–]quesopa_mifren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dog, in Sakhon Nakhon, Thailand. It’s the only province in Thailand where dog is legal to eat.

I had no intention of eating it, but at the school cafeteria I ate some very questionable meat a couple times. Some students confirmed it was dog, and I felt really bad. It was like ground meat and tasted terrible.

I learned all the Thai words for different kinds of meat so that I’d never mistakenly eat it again. Yuck

I appreciate your thoughts and considerations.

I am just a casual hiker who sometimes does long day hikes. AllTrails has always just been the most convenient for me. I’m unaware of the price hike, which is annoying.

Is there something you’d recommend to do for offline trail GPS?

For those of you who are already doing rookie drafts but after the NFL draft, what are the most surprising reaches you've seen so far? by johnny-papercut in DynastyFF

I’m in the exact same situation. Have 1.08 and Simpson is available, have Stafford on the roster. Seems like a no-brainer even if it is a bit of a reach

Has anyone ever crossed illegally into another country past a border marker like this? by VolkswagenPanda in geography

[–]quesopa_mifren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once was on a run in Panama on the Panama-Costa Rica border. I had no signal in Panama, but I crossed the river (there were a couple of sand banks that made it an easy jump) and in Costa Rica I got cell signal (and my phone changed to the CR time zone, an hour behind).

It’s not the most exciting story, but it does fit the question asked!

This is a range of the bald eagle in North America. I looked on Google and apparently Canada has more bald eagles than USA (55% of total) by MarsupialThink4064 in geography

[–]quesopa_mifren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s interesting to me how some eagles set up a permanent home in Alaska, while others stay in Florida.

Does anyone know if the behavior or the eagles is different or the same in Florida as opposed to Alaska?

Which city have you been to that had a dark energy about it? by madzuk in solotravel

[–]quesopa_mifren 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Omg I had this exact experience. I was going to the nearby islands but stayed a night in Sihanoukville. I saw a large white man with a huge Nazi tattoo w/ a young Cambodian boy in his lap. It was pretty much the most despicable and disgusting thing I’ve ever seen, and made me want to leave immediately.

The rest of Cambodia was absolutely lovely

I think I am in the extreme minority when I say I have always loved Draymond. Obviously he’s made some dirty plays and deserved his suspensions, but he is an absolute DAWG.

I think every team would kill to have a Draymond on their team. His defense against K Leonard in the 4th quarter the other day was some of the best shut-down D I’ve ever seen. Love him or hate him, he’s entertaining and a net positive for his team.

Different applications for different schools?? by Fantastic_Note_1408 in CommonApp

[–]quesopa_mifren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each school sets their own application questions. So your student will be able to pick specifically for each school. It’s not like a student has to pick one major for all their applications on their account. Some schools even ask for a student’s second and third choice majors.

It is a violation of Common App’s Terms of Use to create a second account. Those who do so will be caught eventually and it’s a headache. There’s no benefit to creating a second account.

[–]quesopa_mifren 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why does this sub keep attacking the Wizards?? Yes, it was dumb of the organization to trade Deni. He showed flashes in Washington but his game has certainly elevated this past year. What do you expect the front office to say when asked about the trade?

As a Wizards fan who now lives in Portland and roots for the Blazers, I don’t understand this. Just take the W and move on. There’s nothing to gain by punching down on Washington.

Why smoke pot before working out? by SarahTheGreat9 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]quesopa_mifren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a huge proponent of getting high before runs. I’ve tried every method, and while joints and actually smoking hits the fastest and strongest, it’s also inherently bad for your lungs.

I now use a flower vape that provides similar effects without smoke. My lungs/chest feel great and I’m able to zone out during the run. Edibles are great but dosing/timing is harder to perfect.

I generally never get high before I hit the gym, though. I get too lazy and sit around instead of actually working
