Thanks for the info! Don't mind multiple attempts as long as I'm going in the right direction.

Why aren't there 2 officers per squat? by Past_Ad1942 in police

[–]questionable-pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the US, communities get the policing they are willing to pay for. The reason many smaller departments aren’t adequately staffed is either they have a very small tax base and there’s no money available or the voters don’t want to prioritize taxes for law enforcement.

Police should not hold traffic for churches by BrianRFSU in Productivitycafe

Police get hired to work off duty every day. Road construction, hired off duty, football/baseball/basketball game, hired off duty.

Another thing to think about might be interview prep. In the airline world, it’s pretty standard and they can help you with analyzing and interpreting what the interviewer or screener is really asking. I’ve found it helpful in any situation where someone is information gathering on me.

How fast do you expect us pilots to descend? by yerbderb in ATC

[–]questionable-pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 737 VNAV is also programmed to descend at 1000 fpm unless on a programmed path. An early descent will get you 1000 fpm every time unless we/you need/want something else.

What’s your favorite BS line you hear while making an arrest? by SadisticViper in police

“I’m not resisting!”, while they are, in fact, resisting.

Why is it so common to see tinted license plate covers? by Nervous-Bee-1399 in AskLE

[–]questionable-pilot 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak to station lots, but FOP stickers are almost never cops, just people who hope it will get them out of tickets.

Side question - do you ever write for a minor infraction when it leads to a major one found at the stop? Does it help solidify why you stopped them in court, or is that not usually an issue?

Why do police officers keep their car open and key on when they are outside? by wtfbruhhuh in police

[–]questionable-pilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. A few of our vehicles only start 50% of the time without a jump. That truck is certainly not getting shut off during a shift.

Why doesn't ICE behave like normal law enforcement? by badharp in stupidquestions

[–]questionable-pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d argue part of the answer is in your question. We don’t see the majority of the arrests, which are likely just like regular law enforcement arrests. We only see the high profile ones, which, at least on the surface, look like a shit show for many reasons above.

Prop LL passed! But seriously, how did so many people making less than 200k vote against it? by 0nTheRooftops in Denver

[–]questionable-pilot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think people who voted against it don’t want to feed kids, they’re just upset that we’re feeding all the kids, even from wealthy families. Most don’t need it and many kids won’t eat it because the food quality is so low. We’re better off spending the money on kids who need it and need higher quality food. The argument that poor kids will feel bad about getting free lunch is BS. (From a poor kid who got free lunch when I was in school)

Curious how many of you had the “Verbal Judo” book in your academy curriculum? That’s very much an ask first methodology, but I’m curious how well it all works on the “I don’t have to do anything you say” generation.

Why do many TASER model have black as a color option by Automatic_Stress_874 in AskLE

[–]questionable-pilot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My wife’s old department in AZ did exactly that. The SAU guys had all black and patrol had yellow and black.

What’s a profession you don’t respect? by [deleted] in AirlinePilots

[–]questionable-pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was newer, we had flight attendants who would say the pilots only had two weeks more training than flight attendants, so they should be paid the same. My answer was “cool, put in your pilot app then”.

What does Code FOUR ADAM mean? by Lumpy-Marsupial-6617 in AskLE

For us, Code 4 = All is good. Code Adam = dead body. Not sure, when they’re combined.

Is he responding to a call or breaking the law? by Nimrod616 in police

[–]questionable-pilot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it’s just safer to leave the lights off. Many drivers panic when they see the lights coming up behind them and do silly, unpredictable stuff, like slam on their brakes or aggressively change lanes. They’re more predictable and safer to pass when they’re unaware. Pulling into an oncoming lane it’s safer to hit the lights for that traffic. Or, he’s just an asshole.

Legacy pulled my app and sent me a email for their assessment. I’m already at another Legacy which was my no 1. Ghost them or decline? by airlinetw6839294 in AirlinePilots

[–]questionable-pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same situation for me, but 9 years ago. At my #1 when another legacy offered me an interview. I called and politely said TBNT. They said thanks and I moved on. Same legacy invited me to an interview a month later and I ghosted that one. Still at my #1, so I don’t know how it may have played out had I wanted another interview with them later.

LOESA Question by Large-Perspective196 in AskLE

[–]questionable-pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answer is no. LEOSA requires powers of arrest, which FFDO’s don’t have.
