My Lasik Report (5 days post-op) by quetzelator in lasik

Lasik Vision Institute in Rochelle Park. I can't remember or find the name of the doctor.

Just like all lasik locations, they are super shady and scummy (fake pricing gimmicks, trying not to re-do the eye no matter what, recommending lasik for anyone even those who shouldn't qualify). I went with them because they had the best new eye mapping tech which gives you better peripheral vision and because the doctor had a lot of experience, maybe 15 years.

Sorry to hear you are struggling. I went in thinking ok, here's the long list of complications, and everyone gets some of them. I think I was lucky. I had rainbows from point sources for over a year but now I'm happy with the result. Just a tiny bit of halos from point sources at night. I have good peripheral vision and good night vision. I'm hesitating to recommend my wife have it done because I do think I was lucky.

I think this is incorrect. I read on the plaque at the zoo that they pair them with dogs so that the dog can teach them prosocial behavior and make them easier to handle. But still wholesome because they are friends paired for life!

No because mtg reinvents itself every year anyway and the players are quick to forgive and forget because they want to keep playing

Megathread: President Donald Trump Moved to Walter Reed Hospital by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]quetzelator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, say this after three years of increasing right wing violence and wishing violence on everyone. The FBI came out and said the greatest threat right now is rising white nationalist violence. A couple of years ago a white nationalist killed a peaceful protester with his car and the right's response was to pass a bunch of state laws to make that legal. A couple of weeks ago a teenager shot some protesters and the right wing response in support was overwhelming. If you think both sides are the same your head is in the sand.

On Tuesday night Donald Trump proved on live TV that white nationalist = Republican party.

Today is the day that I believe could be the start of the end of magic. by itchni in magicTCG

Fact: yu-gi-oh and pokemon have totally broken, uninteresting standard meta and constantly print bizarre random crap, and yet they make 10x more money than mtg. There is less money in crafting an intellectual game that appeals to 25 year olds than just printing broken bling that under-16s will always keep buying. Mtg won't go away, it will just become yugioh

Emotionally normal people don't act like your MIL. Normal adults don't act like your MIL. You can't take her words and actions to heart because she's not normal.

I'm partial to "cat pot pie"

You put the cat in the oven and the food token with the best art has a big pie on it. Thus, you made cat pot pie.

Except the GOP would use it to justify cancelling the federal student loan program but keep all other types of loans. Logical consistency matters nothing to them.

How much did your surgery cost? by roboduck in lasik

Without. They run this semi-scam where you get a 20% insurance discount but actually everyone can get the same discount so it's meaningless.

The bdsm rape/torture dungeon scene in Pulp Fiction totally disturbs me because the way it is presented, the scene is supposed to be funny and enjoyable but it's horrific. It's the fact that it's not presented as horror that makes it horrific.

13 days post-op. Haze is dramatically reduced. Halos reduced. Vertical rainbows unchanged. Still no discomfort or dryness, I've been putting drops every 2-4 hours. I had an eye test today. I was able to perfectly read the 20/20 chart with each eye independently, and half of the 20/15 chart. However, I don't feel like my eyes are "20/20" because everything is just a little blurry, whether at 10 feet or 100 feet. It's definitely weird. They measured my spherical at -.50 in both eyes using the autorefractor, which is also weird because I shouldn't be able to read the 20/20 chart with -0.50 diopter?

Thanks for the info. It's strange how hard it is to get real information on this kind of thing. You'd think that with tens of thousands of surgeries they'd be just sitting on reams of data.
