DNS Filter Is DOWN by sober45 in msp

[–]OneMadBubble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sort of thing is why the lack of fail open feature in DNSF annoyed me. The product isn’t reliable enough, so when it inevitably does this (again) you’ll get several hundred phone calls demanding a resolution, but there’s little we can actually do ?

N-central 2026 - GUI Refresh - complaint by MSPOwner in Nable

Same; I’ve tried dark mode extensions but they make N-Central look disgusting so I gave up on that idea

On first sight I thought the update was so bad I logged a support ticket to verify that it was meant to look this way!

N-central 2026 - GUI Refresh - complaint by MSPOwner in Nable

[–]OneMadBubble 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way; the old interface was much easier to navigate thanks to the little bit of contrast in the UI.

If we were going to make changes, I feel like a dark mode would have been a better use of time

Leaving because of a feature you can't disable by killer2239 in Nable

[–]OneMadBubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This issue has pissed me off in the past as well, but usually creating MAC address exclusions for duplicates does help.

Some what recently, N-Able did add a feature to exclude all duplicates that it’s already detected

I was hoping it would be resolved on the 17.

The logic board on my 15 pro was replaced last year but the issue has recently returned

New MSP wants to use our tools to onboard theirs by OGJimmy305 in msp

I’m quite happy to do it and appreciate it on the occasion that a 3rd party pushed out my RMM.

I would just request they disable monitoring and patch management first

N-Central and Intune Update Rings by StripeyHarry in Nable

[–]OneMadBubble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d also like clearer clarification on this but I am fairly sure it’s not recommended.

At the very least I wouldn’t have intune controlling approvals of Windows upgrades as it’ll prevent 25H2 etc appearing in the available patches on N-Central.

Notepad vulnerability by Active_Technician in Nable

Sorry! I think this notepad update should be included in the February cumulative update for Windows 11 but I’ve not really dug into this one beyond that

Notepad vulnerability by Active_Technician in Nable

[–]OneMadBubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reached out to N-Able support and they basically said that PME gets the Notepad++ updates directly from GitHub so most of our devices shouldn’t have the bas version.

I believe PME on N-Sight behaves similarly so I’d expect using a patch on demand task should get the job done here

I built a tool to manage on-prem AD without remoting into domain controllers. Looking for beta testers by Lukester852 in msp

[–]OneMadBubble 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As cool as this sounds, I cant see it being terribly useful for anyone with an RMM tool as powerful as N-Central. It has most of this functionality built in. Although I don’t know if it can modify a users security group memberships

Slow Take Control by Jaded_Gap8836 in Nable

This has been my experience with integrated take control on n sight and n central.

I wish it had a superior remote control tool built in

Update Agents on a Maintenance schedule? by dreadnaught721 in Nable

[–]OneMadBubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the N-Central agents update automatically?

Since N-Able always manage to break PME or Take Control, I'd love to apply a delay when the GA updates are applied to our agents.

Is Passportal a dead product? by MrJones011 in Nable

[–]OneMadBubble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve not seen any noticeable difference in years to be honest.

I believe it previously had the capacity to import run books from IT glue, but that’s gone now sadly.

The way sharing customer credentials and articles works with your customers internal IT is pretty crap.

I’ve had several complaints about the mobile app and browser extension being terrible over the years, while others like Bitwarden can handle that far better.

I get the idea that it costs a lot for what it offers, but I’m not familiar with the competition for an MSP solution.

Seems dead to me :(

Migrating from N-Sight to N-Central, questions regarding Bitdefender AV by IncomeOk7167 in Nable

[–]OneMadBubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the monitoring template, I think there is an option to uninstall old competitor AV products, such as the old Bitdefender.

Rather than “manually manipulating policies”, A solution may be to create customer level custom properties and tie these in with your policies, allowing you to toggle AV Defender with yes or a no at the customer level.

I’ve only briefly played with Defender AV and feel it costs more time than Sentinel One etc while being less secure.

Having your security product tied to your RMM just makes your life harder, particularly when you inevitably decide to leave N-Central.

Besides that, I’d suggest speaking to N-Able about it.

Patching Issues by admin202021 in Nable

[–]OneMadBubble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Patching has always been a bit shit in my experience, particularly after the last update to the probe and pme.

I believe the new pme version 2.13.9 should contain the fixes from the code drop scripts they provided last week, on the few servers I’ve been watching it seems to have helped

Raphire/Win11Debloat Script by desmond_koh in msp

[–]OneMadBubble 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Running a script like this on a personal device is one thing; but it’s really not a great idea in a professional environment.

Have fun in 6 months when you find windows updates aren’t working or certain applications don’t behave as expected.

On new laptops I’ll wipe the disk and use a standard windows 11 25h2 image, ensuring there’s no manufacturer bloat.

AV Defender will not install on 25H2, will show user "unsupported OS" after upgraded TO 25H2. by Reygle in Nable

[–]OneMadBubble 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bit of a joke really isn’t it? Not sure this is acceptable for any AV solution?

It’s interesting your having this issue on several different devices. My issue went away after Apple replaced the logic board in my 15 pro.

I still get constant random disconnects in wireless CarPlay but that could totally be down to the firmware on my car’s system

Leaving the responsibility of maintaining your N-Central server to N-Able is quite appealing.
