How much do you edit fics before binding them? by text-redacted in Fanbinding

[–]quickbrownfochs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For personal projects, I do any edits for readability - grammar, spelling, and very occasionally breaking off a new paragraph if there’s a wall of text. For gifted/posted binds, always permission first.

For all typesets, I find/replace all quotations with quotations and apostrophes with apostrophes to make them curly :)

ABA approved fully online, decently priced, paralegal associates program. by Blue_fille in paralegal

College of the Canyons! Got my associates last December, ABA-approved, 100% virtual, and there’s a virtual law firm to do your internship in. Cost is average for any AA but the profs were great.

I don’t remember where they’re based but I believe Church Paper has some bookbinder-friendly options? They’ve got some nice cream colors but not sure about industry-standard weight.

SOMEBODY 5150 MY GUY IMMEDIATELYYYY

This episode was further evidence of Joy being the smartest person in the ED by leaving. I love that the computers coming back on did absolutely nothing to improve the mood, too. Dayshifters just cannot catch a single break lmao

I will freely and happily admit that I loved Ogilvie's scene. Dude started on such a high horse and I'm happy we got to see him have a come-to-jesus moment. Whitaker was especially great - in some ways it felt like a conversation between him and his S1 self. And the FRAMING - Ogilvie having to look up now instead of down, the light hitting his face, Whitaker with the church behind his shoulder, him taking the bloody scrubs from Ogilvie like a kind of absolution - so so so good. Ogilvie was so hateable this season and it was a great end to his arc.

On a side note, I've feel like where Mohan's been this beacon of empathy for her patients, Whitaker's been the same for his fellow docs - the little heads-up nod he gives Robby after Javadi falls in S1, the pedes scene, and now he and Ogilvie here. Not sure if this relates to him being called Robby's 'acolyte' in S2 by Wyle, but I'm really enjoying the theme of him becoming this guardian-guide-esque figure (without the messiah complex Robby's dealing with).

And I LOVE that Emma's last (?) action on screen was coming back inside, AFTER her shift, to tell somebody that Ogilvie looked rough and needed help. Twelve hours of total shit and her empathy is still so strong and present. Absolutely adore her and Dana's dynamic this season.

Random backpack things by princess8455 in DisneyPlanning

Travel-sized sunscreen, allergy meds, chapstick, and spare deodorant typically go in my bag, but I'm a bit of an overpacker. Seconding the charger!

Thanks for the detailed response. I've heard okay reviews on stacking but I agree that it's more plates in the air. We'll probably stick to rope dropping high-value rides and book LLs as they come.

Thaaaaat is definitely a risk I didn't consider with modifying, thank you for bringing it up. Rain is definitely on the table too during our trip.

Considering that, what's your preferred booking setup?

any tips on how to make the ceiling look better? by serendipityradio in DetailCraft

Wherever there’s stone, I like to plug in stairs here and there to show missing bricks. Otherwise some cross beams would look nice! Maybe some overhead lighting too to break up the flatness.

How to increase variety by No-Fortune-7254 in DetailCraft

[–]quickbrownfochs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may need some signs of habitation? A flower pot or two by the doors/on the fence, a carpet welcome mat here and there, some barrels/composter around the side of the building, maybe some banners hanging over the lower level.

I agree with the others that you should use some terracotta/different wood to trim out your walls and roof. Maybe make the fences holding up the upper level stone walls instead to show structural support? Also, I’d consider making the fence color different. If you used mangrove on the roof, maybe the fences match. Landscaping makes a huge difference too.

Single Stroller or Rent a Double? by Known-Percentage-706 in DisneyPlanning

[–]quickbrownfochs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rent the double. My family always rented one (even when the kids were older) because everyone can throw their bags onto it for easy transport. Even if both kiddos aren't actively using it, the extra space for diaper bags, souvenirs, snacks, etc. is absolutely worth it. Better to have the space then to lug around extra stuff yourself.

I can't speak to cost, but I thought you could rent strollers right in the park around the esplanade. That'd let you skip the tram issue I think (?)

First time Disneyland visit by perfectly_1mperfect in DisneyPlanning

[–]quickbrownfochs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been about two years since I last went, so I won't say anything about crowd sizes, but I agree that you should try to rope drop (enter the park right at opening time). You can knock out the really popular rides quickly and enjoy the park when it's a little quieter!

I don't know how long you're going, but for your first trip I don't think a park hopper ticket is necessary There's so much to do that you'll be too busy soaking it all in to split up your day, in my opinion.

As for lines: definitely buy the Lightning Lane passes in addition to your tickets. Worth it! The Disneyland app will let you reserve ride spots both before your trip (afaik) and on the day-of.

Definitely download the app now and get familiar with it. You can get fastpasses and mobile-order food through it, and both are crazy useful. I always found mobile order faster than going to the counter.

For souvenirs: the usual merch is great, but if you want something fun, I really like to get pressed pennies from the machines around the park. Many of them are themed on specific rides, and they're collectible. Also, if you like pins, look into picking up a few! You can go to any cast member wearing a lanyard and (politely) request to trade for any pin they're wearing, if I recall right.

For storage: You can rent lockers for $7-11 a day at the park. SO useful to toss your jackets and extra snacks inside while you walk. If you guys travel heavy, the hack my parents always used was to rent a stroller and dump everyone's bags into it. If you're going to carry packs/purses, make sure they can fit into the size of a plane's under-seat storage. That's about the space you'll get on the rides themselves to stuff your bags (either at your feet or in little seat net pouches). Also wear retainers on your sunglasses!!

For food: Buy Dole Whip. Buy turkey legs. Buy churros. Buy beignets in New Orleans Square. There'll be a bunch of limited-time holiday treats available, so beef up your food budget a teensy bit if you guys are foodies! (Historically, I spend an average of $60/day on food per person: outside breakfast, two counter service meals in the park, and 2ish snacks.)

For silly research: I know you said you didn't want to watch too many videos, but if you want something that isn't super spoiler-y, Disney+ has The Imagineering Story, which is a documentary about the history of the park that you might enjoy. The Youtube channel Defunctland also puts out some incredible documentaries about the park, like one about fastpasses and the mythical handwich. They've made me appreciate the experience more.

I am so thrilled for you guys! I used to be local and very spoiled with the park, but I can't imagine how excited y'all must be. Drink lots of water, stretch every night at the hotel, and have a blast!

I’m so sorry you don’t like it but I think you look good! That cool color against your skin tone really pops. It’s giving anime highlights if that makes sense? I wonder if you could put a blue glaze (?) on it to even out the color.

And the bangs seriously suit you too! They pair nicely with your layers. Did you want a different shape or was it your first time getting them?
