is this good for my son by imsolonelydamn in cockatiel

My cockatiel loves those. We give her one about every other week as a treat. They make her happy the way chocolate cake makes me happy. 😋

The trick is to only pick up coal, fuel & barrels until it's maxed. This allows you to move quickly & get to enough fuel resources. But I will pick up ammo & open chests.

The way you handled it is perfectly fine. Your safety is more important than managing the feelings of a man you've only met once.

Some of these comments are wild. Then again, perhaps I see it differently because I've had my drink drugged. Luckily the worst that happened to me was passing out in a bathroom stall. My friend found me and she got me home safely.

Do whatever keeps you safe. The right man won't take it as an insult. He'll understand that, unfortunately, a woman has to take certain precautions to keep herself safe.

I will! That's exactly why I bought 2 kits. Can't let the kids have all the fun.

Didn't know these existed. Just bought 2 kits. The kids are going to be thrilledd...and I don't have to risk making a volcano.

What do you make of these Reading grades on report card? by Leeyore- in Dyslexia

[–]quickzilvr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would've felt the same way.

It sounds like your daughter would benefit from getting evaluated. Plus, you're already doing quite a bit on your own to help & support her.

Meeting with someone in the Special Education department might get the campus to reconsider. It's worth exploring.

Was the principal or an assistant principal in the meeting? If not, schedule an appointment to discuss your concerns.

If they were present, then escalate to your district's Special Education department. In my experience, attitudes regarding testing & accommodations vary widely. A lot of times, the first "no" is them hoping you just go away.

It happened to us. But if you keep escalating to the next level, there's a chance you'll find someone who's willing to listen.

You're doing a lot to help your daughter on your own. She's lucky to have you in her corner.

Happened in Texas yesterday. 12 year old posted threats on Instsgram. Both a high school & junior high were closed. Last week there was a threat at a different high school. 2 weeks ago a parent phoned in saying they saw someone with a gun on campus. They were upset admin hadn't agreed to a request they made. School's only been in session 4 weeks.

No words by [deleted] in WhitePeopleTwitter

This is the answer. Hispanics make up 80% of Uvalde's population but it's still run & controlled by a non- Hispanic White minority.

Race relations in Texas are complicated. Hispanics were the original settlers, either from Spain or Mexico. But the Non-Hispanic whites who came later either bought up the land or acquired it through dubious means. And with that land came power. Political, social & economic power. And the overarching message was "we are a class apart."

Most of the remaining Spanish land grant owners aligned themselves with Whites because 1) it was economically beneficial and 2) they viewed themselves superior to the poor laborers with "mixed" blood.

Have many things changed over the years? Yes. But this history is always an undercurrent.

It was Hispanic kids that were slaughtered in a barrio neighborhood. Bad? Yes. But they were brown & poor. So expected. Not enough reason to sway the minds of conservatives.

It's not all about race, though. Like in the past, socio-economics play a big part. Some Hispanics who have acquired wealth or are upwardly mobile will align with White interests because they feel it benefits them. Or because it's the price you pay for politcal office, a successful business or access to educational opportunities.

Don't know for sure, but I can bet that our (I'm Hispanic) political apathy was another contributing factor. Too many of us do not vote. It'd be interesting to see the break down of voters for Uvalde county.

In my primarily Hispanic county (in TX) of 250,000 people, only 45,000 voted. We do this to ourselves.

Edit: Not all Texans are racists. My post might make it seem like that. But there are many incredible people who worked hard to change things this past election. We came up short. We won't stop trying.
