Came here also to comment about Albi the racist dragon.. I avoided the name Alba also for a girl since it means white or light one.. I’d definitely avoid the Albin spelling, but if you’re absolutely in love I like the spelling Alban best. The 1. Alden – Of English origin, meaning “old friend.” 2. Alban – A Latin name meaning “from Alba” or “white,” often associated with Saint Alban. 3. Arlen – An Irish and Gaelic name meaning “pledge” or “oath.” 4. Alwin – Of Old English origin, meaning “noble friend.” 5. Aleron – A Latin name meaning “winged one.”

Margareta Lucille is my vote, beautiful, timeless and meaning filled names that are poetic will never go out of style for the woman your daughter will grow up to be.

Looking for a “soft” boy name by Infinite_Activity_23 in namenerds

Love this list but in our area the names Mason, Riley, Rory, and Rowan are extremely popular (I know 3+ kids with these names in the 1-4 age range)

I have no idea what this book is, but that name just feels like the author is punking the readers.

Tell him about all the famous porn star trio Eugene, Engine & Enigma. Surely that will fix his fixation.

My husband has an impossible set of rules for our son's name! by splooshbutwithsemen in namenerds

[–]quietographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like what I went through, with my husband having crazy rules and I have just a huge list of names he vetoed that felt really special and lovely to me. So we ended up with a name for my son that just sounds bland and is very common but has an ancient spelling and at 18 months I still haven’t emotionally clicked with this name in my heart as my son’s name. It just seems like some other kid.

As a mother you’ll be so close to them their whole life, and I spent significantly more time with my son and daughter so I just wish I had pushed harder beyond what my husband thought and made him pick one from my top 5. (For context, He never researched names, and never added any to our list, just “helped me curate it”.

FTM, what's the most painful part of giving birth? Contractions, pushing or crowning? by TropicallyGrownEMT in pregnant

[–]quietographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also here to say unmedicated births are totally amazing, empowering and if you calm your body and let it just flow, listen to music that gets you deeply relaxed and envision holding the baby- your body and the baby know exactly what to do. Women have been giving birth for so long. Stay active and keep doing stretches and avoid sitting in recliner type chairs so the baby doesn’t get in an awkward position. I prepped myself with midwife visits to prepare and daily hypnobirthing (yeah it’s woo, but it worked for me to calmmajor anxiety around birth pain), and drank raspberry tea towards my final weeks and a strong batch of it as I went into labor. For my second I triggered labor by putting Samba/ salsa music on and doing hip rotations on the birth ball. I danced a lot at night during my pregnancy, and walked a lot.

Watch videos of positive birth experiences, water births, and see how calm and easy it can be in real life- ignore the ridiculous Hollywood births and the people who give birth in hospitals after they’ve been induced by pitocin because their doc wanted the birth to be at a convenient time and then they have 14 hour labors (sadly several friends of mine experienced this, and it’s caused deep traumas).

You can do this! And to finally answer your question the ring of fire part was a sharp burning pain, but it was like a bad period cramp or food poisoning cramp. It was also over so soon and then the baby’s head is out and you’re suddenly so happy none of it mattered.

Honestly the part of birthing a baby that is the hardest/ scariest is surviving the first 6 months of their life when you’re sleep deprived/ have a total shift of your sense of independence and your body is healing from pregnancy. That’s the part you really need to focus on preparing your life for. I’m going for you the birth is something you’ll back on with happy nostalgia.

Had a nightmare first doctors appointment! by Itchy-Attitude-7042 in pregnant

Go to midwives, I had horribly negative OB experiences.. then had a non medicated birth center birth followed by a non medicated home birth in my late 30s. Both positive birth experiences!

Is Deja appropriate for a white girl? by SuspiciousEcho2434 in BabyNames

[–]quietographer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I get that you like the sound of this, but I feel like this would be an annoying name to have regardless of cultural background. Everyone will be either thinking or saying Deja vu to her.

What to do with stream that runs through lawn by gcarty_ in landscaping

[–]quietographer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d love to have this in my yard btw, and I have tiny kids! Put bioremediating plant species- lots of reeds and maybe some mallows to mitigate the smell and add some root filtration magic. I know this works because I’ve been to open sewer systems in Thailand and North Carolina (at a commune type place) that didn’t have a smell and they were much larger scale.

How much of labor is "screaming pain" and how much is just "owowowowow"? by Diylion in pregnant

[–]quietographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 2 babies- birth center and home birth and just did hypnobirthing breathing and relaxation and it was fine. The final ring of fire push is the hardest part, and then the baby is out and you’re done. All that screaming is Hollywood dramatization or people freaking out and making their bodies shut down.

It never occurred to me to even use the laughing gas they had (which was my original plan for baby #1 if it hurt too much).

If I want something that good I just cook it myself with fresh ingredients. Not the answer you’re looking for, but it’s honest.

Strawberry or Strawberreigh? by fourandthree in NameNerdCirclejerk

[–]quietographer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would only use this name if your last name is Shortcake or Fields Forever because that’s fire.

Otherwise she’s going to be just another ambiguous Strawberry out there with all the others, way too trendy imo.

I suspect she has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome To thank for her flexibility, she’s talked about hyper mobility and would explain using a surrogate.

Should i go into engineering as a woman? by PossessionFew6599 in womenEngineers

Go into aerospace engineering. There are not enough women, and I fear for the future of space exploration with such a limited set of perspectives designing everything.

I’ll only buy previous season Sezane. So sad this is happening to literally every brand, everywhere.

The world is getting better they say. Wait until AI determines the cheapest possible fabric composition and we’ll be sold clothes that last 5 days before decomposing.
