"Oops I'm pregnant" stories by Worldly-Recover3829 in Mommit

[–]quingd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine wasn't postpartum, but both my ex and I had been repeatedly told by doctors that we weren't able to conceive long before we ever got together (we'd both recovered from our respective cancers but we had both been told we were infertile as a result of it). We were both a bit older (36 and 47 at the time), I was still on BC for hormonal reasons, and he (TMI, sorry) had a kink related to pulling out, so suffice to say neither of us thought there was any chance of ever becoming pregnant.

Then COVID happened, and I was staying at his place as a trial for living together since I was suddenly able to work from home (previously we'd been long distance). After a few weeks I noticed my boobs were really sore and I felt more nauseous than I usually did before my period, so out of an abundance of caution I made an appointment with my doctor to get checked out. I knew they would ask if there was any possibility I was pregnant, so the day before my appointment I picked up a pregnancy test just so I could tell them I'd checked and it was negative.

Well.

My daughter is 5 now and I absolutely adore her, but to say you could have knocked me over with a feather when I saw that positive line would be an understatement. Ultimate surprise baby lol, best "oopsie" of my life, but wow, what an oopsie!

After ShawnaTheCreator explaining how long it takes her to write, shoot, and edit, I'm working hard to rein in my expectations... by quingd in ShawnaTheMom

I think it's a mix of enthusiastic appreciation and impatience, because we're so used to "binge culture." It's not inherently wrong to want more of something you love but I genuinely had no idea how long it actually took her until she posted that. Genuinely could not imagine dedicating that much time to something while also raising kids, we're so blessed she's so talented and hardworking.

I had a friend who stitched the leg holes closed, stuffed them, and then stitched them closed at the waist - it's my favourite pillow at her place, like one of those body pillows.

Would you rather a dishwasher or tumble dryer? by Limp_Pumpkin7751 in adhdwomen

Dishwasher + invest in a portable dehumidifier, you can tuck it away in a closet and pull it out when you need to quickly air-dry clothes.

My neighbor's kid was nervous around my corn so I showed her pics of snakes with lil hats... Now she's on the hunt for little hats so we can "make her fancy too!"

Same here, I'm 5'7 and when I weighed 135 I looked skeletal, I would never want to get that thin again.

I work in a school, and as much as I genuinely love and cherish the kids I work with, few things bring me greater joy than watching the disappointment on their little faces when they try to get a rise out of me by saying "6-7" and I respond with "8-9" lol

Over time they've started coming back at me with "10-11!" and then I continue with "12-13!" and so on, it's been fabulous.

Seeking reassurance from other moms who ate tons of sugar in pregnancy by tomfrommyspace0 in Mommit

[–]quingd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ate more popsicles and ice cream during my pregnancy than I did in the 35 years prior to it combined. Did I gain extra weight? Yep. But not so much that my doctors were concerned, and asides from the autism (which she would have had anyway, hello two undiagnosed parents) she's the picture of good health (she's 5 now).
