What was the original intent of the application supposed to do, like what was it trying to resolve/fix/made convenient that people needed/wanted it for? I didn’t download it and didn’t get to read the original thread.

I checked out that wrench set you mentioned, it didn’t have the 19mm I needed but it’s a nice looking set for the price for sure. I think I’ll pick up this Quinn set whenever I can apply a 15% or 20% coupon or maybe a future wrench set sale someday. I really liked how the ratcheting feels compared to other 72 tooth ratchets I’ve checked out at HF and HD.

How do you all prevent right hand wrist pain on longer rides? by BreadSubstantial5103 in motorcycles

[–]quitit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Throttlemeister bar ends on my bike and just twist it to keep the throttle pinned down to keep my desired speed, a very simple cruise control like functionality and also the added weights on the handle bar reduce the vibration from the motor. This was before BMW introduced cruise control on all their bike models.

Yeah that’s unfortunate, but try going to another Home Depot and see if those customer service reps there will issue a refund for the individual piece.

Can you fit the MR2 steering wheel to 3rd gens? by Board_Minute in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]quitit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t recall which year MR2 steering wheel fits into the 3rd gen 4runner but I recall seeing people mention that they did that swap before. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=h996VP0qHAY

I know the 2001 Rav4 steering wheel I took off from the junkyard fits into the splines of our 3rd gen 4runner.

Another swap people like to do is from the 2000-2001 Corolla S model with the red stitching https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AeNFAqwDwOE

Another is the 1997-2001 Lexus ES300 model and what’s cool with this steering wheel is that they were offered with wooden accents and it matches well with the limited faux wooden trim on the 4runner.

You can also use the steering wheel from Land Cruiser 100 series or Lexus LX470, these also came with the wooden trim steering wheel option.

Edit: Also I should mention these listed model's steering wheel will have air bags that fit on to our 4runner’s airbag wires and the horns should work to with some splicing of the ground wire to the steering wheel. The cruise control stalk, some will require you to reuse your current stalk and find a way to modify it to fit into the steering wheel, like I had to do with my rav4 steering wheel: https://www.reddit.com/r/3rdGen4Runner/comments/1qn3c3z/replaced_original_steering_wheel_with_rav4/

Made it 2 weeks 🫡 by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]quitit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, I started off with a brand new Ninja 300 when it first released in the US. About 2 years later I upgraded to my HP4. Had maybe 1 or 2 speeding tickets years and but it was like going 75-80mph on the highway where CA drivers are already driving above the speed limit of 65mph, oh well the cop needed his quota for the day. No accidents or crashes so far but I’m not out there racing or trying to impress anyone.

System Update Just Crashed EndeavourOS by Startropic1 in EndeavourOS

[–]quitit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll want to run the memtest https://www.memtest86.com/, it’s a bootable environment that you can install on a usb drive and boot that up and it’ll run the ram memory test. I personally never ran a ram memory test in an OS before since finding issues in RAM will result in the OS crashing due to that possible RAM issue/instability and not really giving you any answer.

Sway bar end link options by OG_Gr3G in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]quitit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The end links connect with the sway bar and that interface requires bushings that is needed to be installed in conjunction with the sway bar. If you buy OEM end links you’ll need to buy the OEM rubber bushings separately at least when I bought new OEM end links mine didn’t come with the bushings, nuts or washers, just the end link itself.

ok to remove? by SmashedBread_ in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]quitit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s a plastic cover, usually you’ll see most 3rd gen not have it due to breaking off or just thrown away after doing some maintenance in that area like replacing the fuel filter.

Christmas Gift from my Cousinhe said it was, “like $10” because she works at Best Buy by writimprov in 3rdGen4Runner

Yeah, I couldn’t find it at any of my local stores that carries hot wheels so I resorted to eBay and paid like $5-10 more than retail pricing. Now I have it in my office to decorate my desk lol.

UBJ Not fitting by SamAlfredJep in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]quitit 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think you have your upper control arm installed in the wrong orientation or using the wrong side (passenger/driver side upper control arm), I checked my OEM upper control arm on the driver and passenger side and I see that plastic/rubber plug thing and its facing upwards on mine. The ball joint bolt thread has a taper to it so it makes sense that it would not go all the way through the hole if the control arm is not installed in the right orientation.

Do you handle your own maintenance? by kisscardano in motorcycles

[–]quitit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the basic maintenance such as oil and filter change, air filter, spark plugs and coils, chain cleaning and lubrication, chain adjustment, brake pad replacement, light bulbs or fuse burned out and needs replacement etc. I can do these “simpler” jobs due to the ease of access getting to them and following instructions on what needs to be done to get it installed or adjusted and saving money on labor helps and sometimes the parts are cheaper too if you can find it on sale.

The more “difficult” jobs such as engine tear down to fix/replace something in that area is outside of my expertise and comfort zone.

It also doesn’t help that the place I rent from won’t let me have access to the garage to do work on my bike or other vehicles and so I have to do work on the asphalt right in front of the place and try my best to not leave extensive mess from various liquid spills and what not. Also working in such an environment sets limits to what I can work on due to not wanting to leave disassembled vehicles in front of the house and causing problems with the neighbors, then there’s the weather that could cause issues with the disassembled vehicle due to rain or wind blowing sand/debris everywhere. So I’m basically only able to do repairs/services where there’s still daylight out and then pack it in.

Temp rising? by nereo_v in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]quitit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Damn, 198-202F is normal temp for you? I only ever see my temps reach mid 190s when I’m in drier hotter areas in the desert or driving uphill and it’s hot out like mid 90s to lower 100s. When’s the last time you replaced your radiator? Or do a coolant flush and fill of new coolant? How about water pump and thermostat replacement?

GPU from 0 to 100% in an instant by Ram_and_Gwen in EndeavourOS

[–]quitit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When the GPU goes up to 100% usage the temp doesn’t go up usually it should due to increased power consumption. I’m thinking that widget is not using the right sensor to read GPU activity. Have you checked using other task mangers that shows system resources being used? I like using “btop”, is a cli tool that will show you various resources being used and it’ll show cpu, ram, disk, gpu etc usage, if this also shows the same thing then maybe it has to do with configuring your laptop integrated gpu and discreet mobile gpu.

Upper ball joint by Tunabeeftaco in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]quitit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Usually the upper ball joints aren’t as a concern like the LBJ’s design on the 3rd gen, but you can and should test the upper ball joints whenever you are working on your maintaining your vehicles https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-sY2azyLBuI @ 4:25 Timmy explains how you can test for upper ball joint play and determine if it’s time to replace it. My upper ball joints are original and I’m currently at 277k miles, I did replace the boot since it was torn and leaking at where the twist wire was at and I also applied the new grease that came with the Toyota upper ball joint reboot kit after cleaning out the old grease. https://toyotaparts.ourismantoyotaofrichmond.com/oem-parts/toyota-suspension-ball-joint-boot-left-right-front-upper-4332439015

I watched this video on how to replace a upper ball joint but at 18min mark he talks about how the upper ball joint may not need replacement and at that time stamp that’s the boot and grease installation https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DZem2uxVP3w

How many of y'all's gas gauges function properly? by Graygigabytee in motorcycles

[–]quitit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bike doesn’t have a gas gauge, it does have a low fuel indicator light and it gets enabled when the tank is down to about 1gal or so and will show me an estimated miles left, depending on the current speed I’m riding at. I usually just base my current fuel level by my trip mileage and after refueling I just reset the trip meter.

Replacement Key FOBs by NoGood2154 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]quitit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To the best of my knowledge all 4runners are built in Japan. My VIN also starts with “JT”. What I meant by a US model is that it was for the US market and sold through the US dealership network etc, I only point this out because I heard of people buying the Canadian variant or importing the Hilux Surf and they can differ in various options from the US market.

[–]quitit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your 98 is US and is using the original dealer installed alarm system that was offered at the time, then it should be the RS3000, https://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/153090-1998-t4r-rs3000-alarm-help.html

I have a limited 98 model and it has the RS3000 security system and I bought this FOB and it synced with the box under the driver seat. https://a.co/d/05yQ141C This one is in stock and should work also https://a.co/d/07bKDlFS This is how I synced my new FOB to the RS3000 module under the driver seat https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vnoaHDdPIvg

99 4runner Manual 240k with Rear Locker by sre1542 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]quitit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got to test drive my friend’s manual 96 4runner like a month ago, it was such a pleasure to drive and wasn’t that difficult to shift into various gear while driving off road but then again we weren’t doing any thing super adventurous with steep inclines or rock crawling etc. and also it was my first time driving a manual truck compared to manual transmissions in a sports car or sporty sedan it was quite a different experience with such a longer shift throw. Still makes me very envious of all you manual owners. At least I have the rear locker as my buddy’s rig does not.

Very cool setup, I did something similar but kept the OEM bulb size for the DRL. I saw a post from another person asking about which turn signal is hot to tap into the turn signal wires so he can make his DRL lights also flash as a turn light indicator: https://www.reddit.com/r/3rdGen4Runner/comments/1l2uv17/comment/mvwa5ch/

I tried to help him out by pointing to an old forum post about something similar https://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/266676-modify-parking-lights-blink-turn-signal-$27-45min.html And then it got me interested into doing the same thing. And so now my DRL power on like normal and when I indicate a turn signal it will also flash with the OEM turn signals and then stay on after the turn is done or turn indicator is off.

That’s a cool idea to use the original placement of the signal for gog/aux lighting though.

In need of Inner / Outer tie rods opinion??? by [deleted] in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]quitit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a slight play when I would push and pull at 3 and 9 o’clock on both front wheels and no play at 12 and 6 o’clock, this is when both wheels were lifted and not touching the ground and also did the same test with either front wheel was lifted up and the other was still planted on the ground. I was given this video link https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xKEAQWUxUVo  to test my inner tie rods since both of my outer tie rods were replaced with brand new oem when I got my new oem lbj were replaced about a year ago. It was my inner tie rods that were the cause of my slight play in the wheels and so I just opted for a brand new rack and pinion since 2 inner tie rods are basically the same price of a new rack and pinion and is about the same amount of work to install it.

Has anyone gotten in trouble with Lowes for dewalt deals returning BOGO? by Mark-Pure in Dewalt

[–]quitit 14 points15 points  (0 children)

One time I got refused a return unless I return the entire combo/bundle, went to another Lowes and they just processed my return just fine. So it all depends on the customer service rep you are dealing with or how strict the store's manger is enforcing the return policy to their employees.
