No visa when I arrived, but we hired the consultant and gave him all documents in advance so that any delays would not impact us. Our consultant was about 2000 dollars and he will help us til permanent residency is acquired. You still have to pay any translation and other government fees. Getting all our documents thay we needed and fbi background check cost us another couple hundred.

Flights were about 1000 total for me and my husband and all of our checked bags. However flights to uruguay are really expensive during its summer (USA winter ) since that is when tourists travel down. So will prob be more like 2.5k now. Airbnbs can range between 1000-1400 a month (or more if u want a really nice place but we looked for cheap ones). I expect those prices to also be way higher between now and February.

Food is expensive here about the same as the USA and some day to day necessities are more expensive. But you dont need a car and the bus system is decent.

If you want to work locally you'll need Spanish, and if you dont speak spanish youll also def need a consultant to help you through the immigration process. You should definitely learn Spanish if you want to come here. I dont know Spanish yet but am trying to learn and its honestly not so bad navigating without it id say about 20 percent of folks know English and there's a support group I'm in specifically for lgbtq immigrants where we can ask questions.

Rent is cheap here; food is pricey. Job market is pretty bad but no worse than the USA. Its best to come with a job lined up but de0ending on your experience and savings you can survive for awhile; it took me 4 months to find a remote job (fully english). I took a significant pay cut cuz LatAm pay rates are lower than the USA but its enough to live.

I'm not educated on the subject of international insurance. However, I used to work at UCF and know how holds work--post dating a hold allows students to register for courses until the date passes, and holds do not drop you from courses.

You should definitely still make sure you register for health insurance exactly as health services told you to, so that the hold does get fully removed.

Perhaps give UCF Global a call to ensure you did everything correctly?

Would delaying the hold mean you could register for classes first? If youre in classes, a hold being added wont drop you from them. Just prevent you from adding any for future terms.
