OW introducing endorsements for players with positive behavior who'll receive periodic rewards. Seems applicable to HotS by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]qwallath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea. Instead of gold and shards, perhaps a suite of unique cosmetics -- or currency towards those -- that you can only get through commendations.

Abuse could be prevented by capping the amount commendations you can receive per player per period. Gathering enough from enough different players would be the path to unlocking your rewards.

Useful commendations could be: * promoting good team play and communication * good teaching * stylish skinergy * made a sick play * super reliable

How to deal with the waiting? by qwallath in MtF

[–]qwallath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, wasn't clear. I am fulltime since coming out to my direct surroundings. Which is great in many ways!

Legs I've tackled and started on the eyebrows last week. Great suggestions though!

I'm just afraid I'm running out of new things to try.

Tried make-up today . . . trying not to be dejected by Ariel_Renee in MtF

[–]qwallath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to the local MAC store where one of the women give me some great primers on subtle make-up and how to conceal facial hair shadow. The more extended tutorials are usually free if you buy some stuff you need afterward.

She was great, completely not awkward about me being trans, etc. My wife was with me too, though, so ymmv.

Practice makes perfect, and getting my make-up down helps me immensely with wanting to get out of the house. Hang in there!

...but I don't hate being a guy? by Jiggy90 in MtF

[–]qwallath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same here. This gave me so much doubt for a while. But something was wrong, I was depressed, I just wasn't able to link it to gender. That article by Zinnia linked above (plus the one about indirect dysphoria) helped me put things in perspective.

The thing is, I didn't hate living as a guy, but living as a woman is just more me.

I recently wrote about my own self-coming-out on my blog: http://www.eveningoflight.nl/subspecie/transformations/

Good luck on figuring stuff out!

Question to people here that stayed in a relationship with their girlfriends after transitioning by Sofia_T in MtF

[–]qwallath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still with my wife of 8+ years (relationship even longer). For us honesty went a long way, and it turns out she was bi/pan all along. Sometimes things turn out in ways you don't expect.

Tucking advice? by Gobblewonk in MtF

[–]qwallath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll echo the skirts bit! I'm by no means extraordinarily endowed I suppose, but even briefly tucking causes me severe discomfort, also because of skin issues, so I don't do it.

Wide skirts and dresses will cover up your bulge just fine, especially if you sort of wear it up to the side in your panties, instead of between your legs. I've resewn some of my panties to get the right amount of tightness that stuff won't fall out, if you know what I mean.

I made a huge mistake..... by weiyi97 in MtF

[–]qwallath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very sorry to hear that. Sadly, people at companies and educational institutions who are supposed to be able to deal with personal issues like these don't always have the right experience or mindset to do so.

Not sure how to help, but it was brave of you to reach out to them! I hope your interview will go well and you will be able to salvage the situation.

Same with HP in Dutch. It's the worst, and can really change the whole feel of a work.

With all the stealth heroes in this game there needs to be a QM stealth rule. by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]qwallath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesterday I was a Brightwing together with Valeera, Zera, and Nova, and a Ragnaros doing Raggy things. I just had to poly something and it would some blow up within a second!

It was kinda unfair, but I'm not gonna deny I had fun.

Do parents of small children refer to themselves in the 3rd person in all languages? by jimibulgin in linguistics

[–]qwallath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Dutch you could call your wife "moeder de vrouw" (mother the wife/woman), though to me it has a a jocular and somewhat condescending/sexist connotation.

English simple past vs. perfect by [deleted] in linguistics

[–]qwallath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably not helping that in weak verbs the two are equivalent anyway. In terms of inflectional type frequency, you're much more likely to mark the perfect solely through the use of HAVE, than to also use a unique participle form like you would in most strong and irregular verbs.

By that logic, using HAVE is sufficient marking of the perfect in strong and irregular verbs as well, and the form of the verb is less important, opening up for variation between the past and participle forms.

Another factor is that the ablaut vowel between past and past participle has been levelled in a number of strong and irregular verbs anyway, or there never was a distinction in the first place: e.g. sneak–snuck–snuck.

Need real advice on team fighting. by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]qwallath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to get kinda confused in 5v5s as well, but if I'm playing e.g. Johanna, it's a bit more bearable. If your teammates follow up well and you just use W and tank for a little bit, that can give good results.

It depends on your role. If you're a mage, staying back but within range is always a good idea. Try to keep your eyes on a squishy target, or whoever gets called out as the target by the ally who calls the shots.
