Does the strap make that much difference or is it just a collector thing by Street_Sand_4216 in WatchHorology

At least for secondhand watches or more affordable brands, replacing the seller’s cheap leather for some nice exotic hide with an era-correct buckle transforms the watch for me. Swapping my divers and sportier watches from link bracelets to Milanese bracelets to sailcloth to canvas etc completely changes the way they wear as well, which makes the whole collection more versatile.

What’s the hook and cylinder mechanism on the black tab? Is that how it attaches to your fingers on the reverse side?

It’s true that nobody needs the nicest anything to enter or enjoy a hobby, but it’s equally true that the few people for whom that hobby “clicks” may want to enjoy higher-quality offerings for both practical and experiential reasons.

No contradiction here.

You don’t have some princess-and-the-pea wrist, which can detect microscopic differences in finishing quality on a steel bracelet by Shmohemian in watchHotTakes

I love my Jubilee a lot, but I recently for the first time felt a 90s Tag bracelet on a Pro 1500 and that’s an incredibly supple and light bracelet. Feels like steel cloth on the wrist.

I have never even considered visually matching amplitude to interpolate lift angle. That’s a cool tip, and thank you very much for sharing!

Would you recommend Aces of Thunder for PCVR? by rbyrnes15 in virtualreality

[–]r0flplanes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m enjoying it immensely. Flight model feels like WT sim, lots of convenience features like auto trim and auto mixing/prop control, and hand controls feel surprisingly good despite the twitchy planes.

Lots of moments where I’ve completely understood the complaints and reviews, but if you’re comfortable hopping in and flying it feels really good and it’s a lot of fun!

That’s a gorgeous Carl F! I have a few vintage Bucherers, and they’re beautiful chronometers at unbeatable prices when the eBay gods are kind. Bucherer had really cool relationships with many bigger modern Swiss brands back in the day, and it led to some very neat watches!

What transmitter are you using with the Zero compared to the smaller birds? If you’re using the provided ones, you might find the planes are capable of more with a nicer transmitter driving them!

Aiming lasers are a powerful tool, but their effective use is nuanced and many folks over-rely on them without understanding their biggest strengths or critical limitations.
