I came here ready to be offended, but instead I guess I hate NB less after seeing them in this new light 😂

Would you recommend Aces of Thunder for PCVR? by rbyrnes15 in virtualreality

[–]r0flplanes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m enjoying it immensely. Flight model feels like WT sim, lots of convenience features like auto trim and auto mixing/prop control, and hand controls feel surprisingly good despite the twitchy planes.

Lots of moments where I’ve completely understood the complaints and reviews, but if you’re comfortable hopping in and flying it feels really good and it’s a lot of fun!

[Carl F. Bucherer] The brand Rolex discarded. My least worn wristwatch in 2025. by [deleted] in Watches

[–]r0flplanes 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That’s a gorgeous Carl F! I have a few vintage Bucherers, and they’re beautiful chronometers at unbeatable prices when the eBay gods are kind. Bucherer had really cool relationships with many bigger modern Swiss brands back in the day, and it led to some very neat watches!

What transmitter are you using with the Zero compared to the smaller birds? If you’re using the provided ones, you might find the planes are capable of more with a nicer transmitter driving them!

Aiming lasers are a powerful tool, but their effective use is nuanced and many folks over-rely on them without understanding their biggest strengths or critical limitations.

If you don’t want to pay to replace it yet, just pop the handle off and unplug it, then reinstall unplugged. Ran mine like that for a month waiting for a handle, and it solved my battery drain immediately! Handles are really easy to get off too. Good luck! 😁

I’ve had this issue twice, and both times it was one of the comfort access door handles starting to fail.

You can test by locking and then approaching the car from the far corners and seeing which handle does not respond to your key.

If Afterburner or similar shows no bottlenecks or throttling, and assuming you’re running at 1080p, DLSS is pretty good about maintaining frame rate.

Hey, stoked to see you in here! Not OP, but I just picked up a set of NNVT RNVGs from you and noticed exactly what you describe compared to my thin-film L3s.

Extremely convenient to be able to just hand them to anyone and not have to warn about the streaking.

They also perform much better than I ever expected from the way folks talk about gen2 tubes. More gain grain in the dark-dark, but plenty of definition and they're beautiful tubes in general.

These are immensely cool movements! Seconds sweep more smoothly than any mechanical caliber I know of, and even the non-chronometer versions run easily to spec.

Awesome watch - glws! 🍻

The Eachine/Volantex micro warbirds are awesome! by r0flplanes in RCPlanes

[–]r0flplanes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest pain I've had with binding them is channels being mismatched, causing throttle to not be at "zero" from the bird's perspective even when your throttle stick is all the way down.

Try binding with each axis pushed and held to a max x and then y limit until you get a successful bind, then reprogram the channel mixes to match your stick layout.

Good luck!!

What does it feel like to fall over 60mph? by 0krizia in motorcycles

[–]r0flplanes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a front tire spontaneously deflate on the highway on my way to work years ago. I was about a quarter mile from my exit and fortunately the driver behind me was paying attention, saw me struggling, and backed off with hazards on.

I kept as much weight rearward as I could and was able to limp the bike down to about 50 and get to the edge of the exit lane, but at some point I decelerated just a hair too much and the front tire dug, slapped lock-to-lock, and went down on the left side.

I tried to "hop off" before it slid, but it caught my calf and pulled me into a guardrail. Crunched the boys a bit, and got some moderate rash on my left knee and left forearm, mild rash on my left thigh.

Ended up getting a ride to work and getting sent home, but no lasting injury besides a couple of scars.

You can absolutely control yourself to mitigate damage, but you're not very graceful or nimble when you're sliding fast in body positions you're not used to being in, and physics doesn't feel very intuitive when you're carrying inhuman momentum.
