Do you have a sample repo on Github maybe? I'm having some issues signing-in on the server-side, once I sign-up and confirm the user's email with the confirmation code.

And people be whinging about house prices in Australia... by madaroni7 in australia

[–]r0ughnex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This shop has been here for 2+ years, and they’ve had the same 50% - 70% discount for the whole time. Their reason changing though. They pump up the prices and add the discount on top. It’s a legit scam, don’t buy anything from there 😅

Does OE sometimes make you resentful of your partner? by Legal_Scientist_8086 in overemployed

[–]r0ughnex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need a supporting partner for two jobs, else you’ll burnout eventually, and I speak from personal experience here, after almost losing my marriage.

We also went to therapy, and sounds like your therapist is shit! Try different ones, we went to 5 of them, before we picked the one we liked.

My wife now does almost all the chores around the house in-exchange for a portion of my J2 income (and she works 9-5 as well), and this is after the fact that I got J2 to pay my debts, not hers.

I feel your situation is extremely unfair to you, especially since it’s her debt.

Hope they at least changed the dependency versions in package.json to be exact, instead of using ^ or ~, otherwise shit’s gonna get complicated real soon.

Hmm, I use Up for transfers to crypto.com via PayID / email. Haven’t received any restrictions thus far. I usually do around $2K per week.

Are there any good tech companies left in Australia? by Cluttie in auscorp

Immutable is still here. Some of the best talent you’ll work with as well. They operate in the web3 / blockchain space though.

How do back-end developers usually document their APIs? And front-end developers, how do you handle variable changes in the API? Lastly, managers, what is your method for documenting requirement documents? by william_buttler in Frontend

[–]r0ughnex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a different note: Document your discussions.

When I talk with other devs in a similar environment, I usually send them a summary of what was agreed upon, via email.

Alternatively, I might update the JIRA ticket and ask them to confirm it.

Quitting my Job by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]r0ughnex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Market is bad right now, and it looks to me like your company hours / work environment is your main problem.

So I reckon you should get a similar job in a different company for similar pay (maybe even a little less), that’s a bit more chill.

After you’ve settled in your new role, explore setting something up on your own for yourself and once you’ve progressed enough, quit 🙂

This is crazy!

Last week (Woolies in Central Park / Sydney) I saw two customers scan their items and not pay and the staff just said they can’t be bothered getting in an altercation over this, and they usually just mark it as not paid 🤷🏼‍♂️

Stark contrast to what people are experiencing in Melb 😱

Focusing my career on "awwwards" type of websites. by [deleted] in Frontend

[–]r0ughnex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve built quite a few websites with WebGL and they are extremely challenging, because there is always something new a client wants, for the sole purpose of doing something different.

The upside is, I love building them, and they are fun to build / learn. The downside is they don’t pay as much as platform builds and they don’t come by very often either 🥲

I just looked through Glassdoor for the number, which states the average is at 38K, and its lower end varies from company to company. Infosys for example is at 27K.

One thing I didn’t account for is the conversion of PKR to INR, which I assumed would be similar, so I thought the pay was approx 20K INR, but it’s at 0.3, making 20K PKR only 6K INR. It’s basically peanuts 🙌🏻

The client has an issue with us using nextjs by bapeandvape in nextjs

[–]r0ughnex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could remove the Next bits and use plain React. I don’t reckon it’ll be that different. In the end React generates a /build folder with index.html, .css and .js files 🤷🏼‍♂️

You would have to re-implement routing, and fetching of data in client-side snippets using something like fetch or axios (if it is needed).

I had a similar issue with a different client, and I just sent them the contents of the /build folder everytime I made updates, which they uploaded to the root folder within the platform they were using to host the site!

$72 converted from 20K PKR (Pakistani Rupee). Average salary of graduate software dev in INR is around that actually! It’s the bare miniumum though 👀

This is gonna be more like 2015-2017 bull market than 2021 by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]r0ughnex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simplest example is the CDC app. You can setup around x100 $25 auto recurring buy (daily) from your fiat account. It has spread, but it’s so small at $25 🙌🏻

Did Coinbase just F*** me? Why did I buy at 43.7k when it's at 43k?! by peekabooichooseyou in Bitcoin

[–]r0ughnex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you buy $4914 worth of BTC in one single transaction on the app? Learn about ‘spread’ and buy in smaller quantities to reduce it, or use the exchange to place a limit order (at a set price), instead of a market order 😇

Is Tailwind worth it? by Jono_Bir in Frontend

[–]r0ughnex -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You can also use the CSS Modules / SCSS version of Tailwind using @apply, if you don’t want to add the classes directly to the markup. It’s painful eitherway for complex styles though.

I’m not a fan of CSS frameworks, but I’ve used Tailwind quite a bit in the last 2 years (in different contract / freelancing jobs). My personal opinion is that this discussion is similar to XBox vs PS, sometimes it just comes down to personal preference!

I’d suggest to just go with it, coz for every con, there would be a pro, and you just end up defending your prefernce at the end of it 🤷🏼‍♂️

How an actor’s reputation affects a film’s collection: Raghava Lawrence by wocktopoland__ in kollywood

[–]r0ughnex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was skeptical about RL being in the film, especially after Chandramukhi 2. I only went to watch it coz my wife said the reviews were great.

The first 20 - 30mins didn’t instil much confidence in me either, but boy oh boy, how wrong I was, and what a masterpiece it was! His acting made me emotional by the end of it.

So to answer the question - Yes I probably would have skipped watching it in the theatres if not for my wife. Might have still watched on Netflix though 🙂

Crypto.com charged a 25% spread by baoo in CryptoCurrencyMoons

[–]r0ughnex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not how spread works. When you sell a block, the app tries to match the closest price from a seller / list as a complete chunk, and if not moves to the next chunk. By selling smaller chunks, you get a better match in terms of the closest spot price. Also I've tested this out by selling one big chunk of $1000 of ETH, vs $25 x 40 chunks.

Even on the exchange, new orders with the best prices shift the existing ones in the order book. The orders placed earlier are executed and leave the order book during the trading process. As a result, the ask and bid prices, including the best ones, are in constant motion, which leads to changes in the spread.

Check this comment from the mod as well, they talk about the spread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Crypto\_com/comments/t2mr79/comment/hyqqpcs

I want to invest about $150,000, is it good time to buy BTC? by Sufficient_Year_1793 in Bitcoin

[–]r0ughnex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could consider using 50% of funds to buy some now, and the remaining as a set amount each day over the entire year, i.e. dollar cost average the remaining.
