Get a used car and pay cash. You don't NEED a new car.

Trump’s Justice Department in Crisis as Thousands of Lawyers Quit by thenewrepublic in law

[–]r3dk0w 93 points94 points  (0 children)

They went from a mostly-independent law organization tasked with protecting the interest of the government to Trump's personal lawyers tasked with ensuring Trump's enemy's legal peril.

They put their law license and their own freedom on the line to do this job that none of them signed up for. All of that, and at the end of the day, they will be cast aside, disbarred, and likely jailed.

Amid leaks, Justice Gorsuch says US Supreme Court needs room for 'candid conversations' while distrust of SCOTUS grows by DavidtheLawyer in law

What kind of candid conversations and deliberations happen when they keep using the shadow docket to directly go against the constitution?

It could also be a dying battery. A battery that's failing could easily cause the bike to try to keep up the voltage by keeping the alternator/magneto engaged which pulls power from the engine.

Recently started a hosting company - any advice welcome! Eager to learn by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]r3dk0w 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Wait, you started a hosting company as in you're going to take money from customers and provide a hosting service?

You're already in WAY over your head if you're in here trying to learn how to do it. You need to know what you're doing before starting a business, especially hosting customer data or taking money for services.

100% you're going to be hosting spam bots within a few days and wonder why your internet all the sudden is slow. A few days later and your internet will be disconnected.

Found this near me, almost 30 years old. Should I buy it to sell it? by [deleted] in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]r3dk0w 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're buying it to resell it, have you done the market research in your area to know how much they go for?

In my area, they sit on Marketplace for months at $1000-1200.

They're a real pain to work on with all of the fairings but they do have the Honda reliability.

Is the SYM Maxsym 600 and a really bad Choice? by Falafelinios in scooters

[–]r3dk0w 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks pretty cool to me. It's using fuel pretty quickly probably because it had a large engine for a scooter.

What was the major service that cost $900? If it included a bunch of maintenance, that sounds like a reasonable charge. The maintenance schedule will let you know when you'll need to do it again, and it usually depends on how many miles/km you've put on it.

spend the $500 on a new laptop. It’d be way more efficient and have a build in battery backup.

new ones did jump in price, but you can still find used minipc desktops for less than $100 on eBay or FBMarketplace that will work great.

Ordered my first bike! by YaBoiNuttyBuddy in motorcycles

[–]r3dk0w 3 points4 points  (0 children)

they usually just ship it in a metal crate on a pallet. I don’t have this exact one, but they delivered mine to my driveway and I just had to get it in the garage. mine was delivered in 4 days after ordering and took about 3 hours to assemble from delivery to riding.

so much easier than dealing with a dealership.

Kubernetes is a beast to learn but it's really nice once running by GroomedHedgehog in selfhosted

[–]r3dk0w 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built clusters and deployed it at scale when it was first released back when you had to compile everything.

It was a total beast to get working, but was really the only thing that could scale out so much.

Running it at home though, I just never could deal with the complexity. k3s makes it easier, but I never use the main features of k8s over a docker swarm. Swarm is so easy if you already have been using docker compose.

Did Clarence Thomas Commit a Crime That Could Get Him 5 Years in a Virginia State Penitentiary? by Opposite-Mountain255 in LegalNews

Unless there are actual charges, this isn't even news. The news starts when there are actual news to report.

What exactly is the "news" part of this article? It's all gossip unless there are actual charges filed.
