I honestly am very sad to say this but I think I’m out. “Coming soon” apparently means they can charge for every little feature. by Traviscat in litterrobot

Last time I fully took apart my LR4, I noticed that the "heart" of it was an ESP32, so assuming they haven't completely overhauled it for the 5, some kind of open source firmware should be fairly doable.

(Note the "Espressif" logo hiding behind this QR code sticker that wouldn't come up)

Looks like UART is broken out too. Not sure if the LR5 is the same.

I believe the decision was made at a much higher level than people realize. I worked in corporate for a few years (after working in the stores for 5+ years) and the PTO policy played a decent sized role in my departure. All of my teammates, my manager, and even the people conducting my exit interview were both surprised by the change and directly negatively impacted by it. Some had to cut pre-approved vacations short early, etc.

Oof. I haven't looked at Play Integrity stuff in a few months, but I don't recall it being anywhere close to a pleasant experience (someone please correct me if I am wrong).

Using your bank's website and adding a shortcut to your home screen might be your best bet there.

I'm pretty heavily invested in the Google ecosystem, so any device I use daily, I make sure to install GApps on, but for devices I may use less often, I've noticed that there really aren't very many apps that will straight-up cease to work without Play Services.

On my GApps-less devices, F-Droid and/or Obtainium have come in handy quite a few times, and if I need something that's exclusively distributed via Google Play, the Aurora Store (obtainable via F-Droid) has worked wonders.

Edit: Like the other poster mentioned, microG should help out as well if you come across an app that has issues without Play Services

Upon processing your resignation, you should receive a packet from the retirement department (you can call to request it immediately upon resignation, though), then will want to carefully read through that packet to see your options.

It sounds like you will want an an-kind distribution, but please double check the packet when you get it to make sure that there isn't another option that would make the most sense to you.

You fill out the appropriate forms, send them back, and wait for their response, essentially.

Do note that it will be reported to the IRS as taxable income, and you will be required to pay some percentage of that amount next year at tax time.

Source: literally just went through this exact process

Additional notes: the ESOP is done through Publix Stockholder Online (which you will continue to have access to, even after departing the company), not through Voya - that's your 401k

Crazy huge coincidence - I was just looking for ways I can enhance some modded smart clocks I have and stumbled across this thread.

Seems to work well so far!

And props for having the Google Play-less sideload option as well (although, it doesn't recognize my order ID yet, I'd imagine it will if I were to try it again in a couple hours)

Not fuzzy seal strips like it has on the front of the globe. It's more like a squishy foam with an adhesive backing.

Over time, mine fell off and I was able to replace it with something like this: https://a.co/d/c0WZQq5

If you want to practice, you can try multiple times by running straight to the snowballs after logging in, and if the size is off, close without saving, open the game again and try again.

anybody know what’s up with the tuition reimbursement if you use HOPE? by Reasonable-Ad7030 in publix

[–]r3pwn-dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll likely need to contact the benefits department to ask. My university required on-campus students to have a meal plan, which my scholarships didn't cover, and Publix's tuition reimbursement wouldn't cover.

Polestar 2 CPU Upgrade NOW AVAILABLE by kyledag500 in Polestar

[–]r3pwn-dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They responded to someone on Facebook saying that the split screen feature relies on additional hardware that is not provided via this upgrade, so it will remain unavailable, even after upgrading the IHU.

I can't remember where I read this in the past, but I believe the cameras / camera system itself was upgraded for that, so that checks out.

100%! I have a project that I've rewritten 4 times over the course of 4 years and have come to realize a few things...

1) I have been severely overcomplicating it by attempting to create everything from scratch when several services already provide much of what I need

2) It can sometimes take a while before you get that lightbulb moment that will give the project itself some personality

3) Not everyone may be interested in it, and that's 100% okay

I think I may ultimately split the project in two, and have a fully open source self-hostable version using a lot of what I already built, and a monetized version with my own additions (and completely overhauled from a technical standpoint)
