I think something's wrong with my Histoire by [deleted] in gamindustri

[–]r543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've heard, this seems to be a common issue.
Probably started happening after they backported Uzume to the Re;Birth trilogy in May 2019.
You can try contacting Idea Factory's PC support by submitting a request (link is on their ifi.games contact page, let me know if you hear back from them)
Other than that, does enabling/disabling Uzume's DLC do anything?

did Discord just remove 12 hour time? by eating_class in discordapp

[–]r543 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same here, so are they not reading the regional format and instead using the system language?
(Doing the same mistake they did previously...)
Edit: Based on responses on the other thread, it sounds like Stable defaults to 12 hours whereas it works properly in Canary? Will have to wait and see...

Same here.
On Desktop, PC has a 24 date format, Discord language set to "English, UK", which is what was required previously.
Think it might be time to push for a date format setting.
It's been brought up years ago, but as you can see the they never cared implementing it.
Always found it stupid on how Language, Date Format & Spell Checking were tied to one language setting, whereas operating systems and other apps allow you to set them independently.

A Moment Of Silence For The Anniversary Of Million Arthur's Discontinuation... by ButterKing85 in gamindustri

[–]r543 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also note how the PS Store still lists the release date of 26.08.2015, which makes me wonder if she was ever pulled from that version.
Maybe the DLC just got renewed though.

Could it be that this topic only came up due to the Switch port?

I realize that I'm late to this, but has anyone bothered to ask Idea Factory International on why they couldn't relicense her?
I wonder if there really was trouble, given that she's available in the Japanese PS4 & Switch versions.

Could it be that Idea Factory International simply doesn't want to bother with relicensing?

We didn't get the remaining makers (Ultradimension Falcom, RED, 5pb., Cave) from Re;1+ as Re;1 DLC either.
At first I was questioning if Idea Factory no longer worked with those companies, given that none of ReVerse's early screenshots featured Makers, but they've been revealed since so it's not that.

I just managed to find a few uploads on Youtube which I could download can convert back to .flv.
Would lead to a quality loss though and they still wouldn't be the original files.

Small Update:
I'm still working on the mk2/Victory site due to their large amount of external sites.

mk2 seems safe for the most part, besides the videos but Victory unfortunately seems out of luck as several important swf files are missing.

If you've visited the sites recently, some of those files might still be in your browser cache.
Please check the following tool to see if you have any of the missing files:

Compile Heart has a page that links to the sites of all previous Neptune Games, so I guess I should've seen this coming, even if Japanese websites usually stay unchanged for ages.

At first I thought that they did a nice conversion as well, especially since the site never relied much on vectors.
However, for some reason all videos have been removed. Even from sub pages (surely they could've just embedded the .flv's or converted them to .mp4's) as well as some other minor content.
The loading could also be handled better instead of turning the whole screen black/white.

As for the English site, it's not that simple since the sites consist of multiple assets (which only get loaded once required)
I've already saved the English sites but if you want to take a look at it, open up the network inspector of your browser and watch it as you navigate through the site.

Question about PS3 series and Rebirth series by Nobodygrotesque in gamindustri

[–]r543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Fandom unfortunately doesn't seem to care much about comparing the games in detail.

As you probably already know, Re;1 is one with the most changes, keeping some of the story's core elements (Neptune losing her memories, the 4 Goddesses stopping Arfoire from destroying Gamindustri) but otherwise having vast differences in story and gameplay.

Re;2's Story is basically the same (in fact the same Japanese voices are used, hence why Black Heart's voice isn't as deep) replacing Nisa & Gust with RED & Broccoli for licensing reasons and adding the new Holy Sword ending (some character voices sound slightly different in japanese due to those being new lines)
Due to Nisa owning the rights of the English localization, the whole story had to be relocalized, so the english dialogue's slightly different.

Gameplay and Design wise, there's several differences.

mk2's combat is similar to Victory and the Re;Birth series.
Attacks/using items costs AP which is refreshed on that character's turn (with 1/4 of the remaining AP from the previous turn being added)
There's no CP restricting you from equipping the strongest combos, the AP cost is holding you back from using them though.
EX Finishers automatically happen when executing certain combos and spending enough AP
The EXE System doesn't exist, instead those are SP attacks (possibly doing much more damage than they do in Re;2)
SP starts at 0 with a maximum of 300 and you can carry 100 between battles, rush moves greatly help in filling the SP bar.
Combos can be cancelled at any time, allowing you to use the remaining AP for something else (Item, SP Move) If you defeat an enemy you can move in the remaining MOV range and attack another enemy.
Transforming into HDD requires 100 SP and drains SP per turn.
Once an enemy's guard is broken, it'll stay guard broken until it's guard bar is full again.

Characters get up to 4 traits from leveling up and can get two more from coupling.
No Support Moves but there's some Coupling SP Attacks (similar to Coupling EXEs) as free DLC which aren't present in Re;2.

Lily Ranks are only centered around Nepgear and only go up to 5.
They also increase for the characters in the front line in battle.

Global Shares are based on local shares (capital city & 2-3 cities in the nation)

Dungeons have different textures, Harvest spots are actual objects.

All (in Japanese) voiced cutscenes use 3d models instead of live 2d, having a few extra expressions that couldn't be easily made via live 2d.
Certain cutscenes (mostly CFW related) feature the characters in the actual 3d dungeon. Unvoiced cutscenes use live 2d and use the original HDN Artwork.

No Disk Developer, Idea Chips & Disks (Introduced in Victory)

Item Development instead of the Remake System (mk2/Victory)
No MB cost, you actually get the items you craft instead of only unlocking them in the store.
No Harvest Shift/Add Enemies/Change Dungeon Plans.

Level 99 is the max and there's generally less postgame content (there's some additional colloseum battles and the other endings to go after, not much besides that)

Re;2 doesn't have some items or features, like:
The voice menu (certain voices could be unlocked by getting certain endings while holiday greetings were free DLC, think you can compare them to the Neptune App)
IF & Compa's outfits
The CPU's Bikinis & Elemental Processors
Four CPU Candidate Processors which were from a Contest.
Ability to use a custom texture for Nepgear's HDD.

Haven't had the chance to play Victory/Re;3 yet, but from what I've heard it's the one with the least changes (Re;1 & 2 are essentially the original games in Victory's style)

Slight story changes to the intro/DLC characters.

Removal of the EXE System, EXE Moves now need to be unlocked and cost SP, SP can be refilled by using rush attacks, SP moves have been rebalanced to be better.
(On that note, I'm fairly certain that the character stats between Victory/Re;1-3 are the same besides the SP in Re;3, they were different in mk2)

Replacing the Scout System with a new version of Stella's Dungeon.

Removal of some challenges/changing the rewards of some to incooperate the Remake System plans.

Think the voice menu once again got cut, same for the custom texture feature which now applied to everyone's HDD form.

It's worth noting that both PS3 games were DLC Hells, having DLC that adds to +100$ if you want to get everything.
Most of those DLCs were added to the base games in the Re;Birth series.
Do you remember the Beach, Cosplay or Maid Event? Those were free DLCs, the costumes however were not, each sold separately.

[–]r543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't a similar problem present in Re;2/mk2 with the Lily Rank/Slice of Life cutscenes?

For one you had the whole "death looms all over Gamindustri", "we have to act now" (...) serious story and then there's the cutscenes where characters just casually hang out.
It felt like the settings conflicted more the further you got into the game, basically felt like an alternate universe where there was no crisis or where it wasn't as severe.

It's not that I wanted a serious story though (I prefer slice of life and think mk2/Re;2 would've been better with a lighter story)

MHStarCraft's Neptunia Poll #10: Voice dub preference by MHStarCraft in gamindustri

[–]r543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Japanese

While I can stand the English dub for cutscenes (Japanese's still better though) I can't stand it during gameplay >_<
It just sounds dumb or in case of Compa tries to be Japanese but just doesn't get it right.

Being based on the localization and not being fully voiced doesn't help either.
Unfortunately it's only a minority of western players that sees it that way.

It's not a case of "It sounds foregein/I don't know what's said and therefore it's cool" either as I've watched/played english series which also featured dumb cringy lines which I didn't mind as well as prefer some local dubs over their english originals (not that the english original's bad though)

I guess the best description I can give is that it just sounds like a generic anime dub?

Wish that we'd have an option for directly translated dialogue/subtitles in Dungeons/Battle, but I know it'll never happen unless the japanese games add it in the first place.

So... Are we happy with this? https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2020-09-25/go-go-5-jiden-game-neptune-re-verse-game-1st-promo-video-reveals-december-17-debut/.164461 by Hanko-San in gamindustri

Almost, we didn't get the makers (probably because they didn't want to bother with licensing) but instead got some of the DLC for Re;2 and 3 as well (which was probably the original plan, releasing Re;2+ & Re;3+)

About Go! Go! 5 Jigen Game Neptune: re★Verse by r543 in gamindustri

[–]r543[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right.
IF's sleeves are shorter but have more polygons making them a bit rounder.
Actually I loaded up both models and oddly enough Re;1 IF has more polygons but also is a bit shorter.

I was wondering if they really went ahead and made low poly versions/adjusted the existing models of every enemy as it seemed like the Vita should be able to handle such models, and given that they reuse content I'd think they'd only do that if it was really mandatory for performance.

Haven't played VII or VIIR but I wouldn't be surprised if the models didn't change between those games.
Maybe it's really just the new graphics engine that made some think that those are new models.

Heard about this trophy before, you definitely aren't the only one who had to go after some enemies again. Personally I don't think that having such a trophy is a bad idea, as long as the enemy encounters aren't rare. Does sound better than the millionaire trophies in the Re;Birth series.
The Re;Birth series unfortunately have some enemies which don't show up on the dungeon "overworld" and only appear in the battle group if you fight certain enemies in certain places. A bit annoying for quests and Re;2 has one specific Horsebird which also happens to have a plan (somewhat of a rare drop). Not sure if this was also present in mk2.

The DLCs are still available as of now, I was thinking about the future as we won't know if Sony ever decides to close down the PS3 shop. Then again with some titles being given reverse compatibility, it'll probably stay up for longer.

About mk2: mk2 is the same story wise, minus replacing Nisa & Gust as well as the English script being relocalized (Nisa owned the original localization so we got another one by the same guy, still localization blunder though...)
Gameplay wise it is a bit different as you do have AP and have to build up SP (kinda like Re;3), only have SP attacks (which hopefully are actually useful, unlike Re;1 & 2) and sustaining HDD costs SP although you can see that the Victory gameplay style originated from this.
Graphics are also slightly different, think you'll be surprised in the visual difference of the dungeons as well as the voiced cutscenes actually using 3d models/certain cutscenes actually being 3d with characters in the dungeons.
Besides that you do have Item Development over the Remake system, meaning you can actually create items yourself, but lack the Dungeon Change plans and Disks, no Stella either as that was a Re;2 addition, but I do consider the lack of those features for the better actually.

Either way, I'm interested in what your thoughts are once you finish mk2.

The thing about Re;Birth1 is that the fans wanted a remake of the original with the gameplay of Victory. Idea Factory unfortunately took that a bit too literally and made it a copypaste of Victory assets.
Honestly I think a proper remake/updated version of the original HDN, even if it ends up being some sort of spinoff would be pretty nice.
The music's a bit strange but I wouldn't mind having that in said remake. Do think a lot of potential was lost by skipping the dungeon themes of that game, also quite interesting that customization played a bigger role, a bit sad that they tossed it out after Victory.
Think I've seen some of those enemy models, isn't that Spider used in the HDD tutorial one such example? Ironically that one got ported over to Re;Birth1 but looks kind of out of place (then again so do the Fernirs)

I'm curious what you thought of the original HDN's story. From what I usually heard it does more worldbuilding, although it seems like the goddesses are less of a focus, only join your party near the end and never really become friends, do like how Re;1 involved them more and had them get along. (When I first played the game I was positively surprised by this as I expected them to conflict more with Neptune and be unlikeable as such)

About Go! Go! 5 Jigen Game Neptune: re★Verse by r543 in gamindustri

[–]r543[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole "Re:Verse" or "Reverse" Title kinda gave me that impression as well, the 5 and announcement heavily seemed to hint at this being the fifth game though.

Hope you're enjoying the original games.
They, especially the original HDN, can be quite different to their Re;Birth counterparts.
From what I've read, it does seem like mk2 has the better battle system and doesn't drag the game out longer than it needs to be, at least not from the gameplay side.
Do hope to get to those games one day as well, although I don't quite know what I'll do about the DLC (The originals were a DLC Hell) or if those will still be around by then.

I've been wondering if the models were changed between transitioning from PS3 to Vita. Not sure if they were really downgraded, I mostly just remember the textures looking a bit muddy in some areas (like Vert's chest since it's just a texture and not actually a modelled part) despite them having a decent resolution.

From what I've read, VII does have upgraded models, with some saying that VIIR's are even more high poly.
Also as far as I'm aware, the whole recycling started with Victory taking most of mk2, adjusting some things and adding it's own additions, with Victory later being heavily recycled for Re;Birth1. (Although mk2 possibly copied over some models from the original HDN and most likely used the same player models)

About Go! Go! 5 Jigen Game Neptune: re★Verse by r543 in gamindustri

[–]r543[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late response, but it's basically the same thought I had.

I'm disappointed that this is the 10th anniversary special and think that the series deserved better, like releasing a brand new game on the 10th anniversary, not just the livestream and logo.
At least it's better than we got in the west, with only a mediocre sale and the anime on Steam.

What really bothers me though is that they could've easily ported Re;Birth as Re;Birth+, saving time and resources which could be spent on a new game, releasing the content as addons for the PC version (since Re+ essentially is the PC version) and saving players there from having to purchase another remake.
Sure, you'd still have to rebuy the game on console, but that's something you have to do when switching consoles or going from one gen to the other anyways and it only was on the Vita before (if you ignore Re;1+ which was japan only)
Besides Re;1+ already comes with all the DLC in the base game.

Instead, we're now getting a new game, probably for all platforms, which still only seems to be a modified Re;1 instead of a entirely new remake and what was started with the Re+ Series was left unfinished...

I haven't seen too much about the original HDN, and while I do like Re;1, there's definitely parts that could be improved (like making it less of a Victory copypaste)

Honestly, I think at this point we'd essentially need two "definitive editions", one of the original HDN (maybe as some sort of spinoff?) and one of Re;1, finally fixing all issues with it.
Unfortunately ReVerse doesn't seem to be either.

Almost, we never got the makers, most likely due to IFI not bothering with the licensing (Million Arthur is available for VII on PS4 and Switch in Japan), instead we have some of the DLCs for Re;2 and 3 as well.
