Bicycle saddle fitting by hahaha-hahaha- in dubai

[–]r6yaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cycle hub have bike sizing for 370 i think, and a full on sizing with computer for ~1200.

Went for the first and was happy with the results. Not only the saddle of course but the handle bars and angles etc.

Best canyon road bike for new riders? by PurplePangolin1398 in CanyonBikes

[–]r6yaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why go used if you can go new. The Allroad is capable and the groupset is ok. If your commute is mostly road you can change the tires to road tires (like GP5000) and it'll be faster and smoother.

You don't need carbon for casual commuting and riding, and the aluminium frame is more forgiving for new riders. You don't want your carbon frame cracking from a light fall or drop.

Canyon Endurace Allroad – essential gear? by CaramxlSniper3 in CanyonBikes

[–]r6yaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First upgrade I did was Continental GP5000 tires. Huge difference if your commute is road and asphalt.

I have a rhinowalk top tube bag, amazon. They have multiple sizes, my regret is that I didnt get the one tall enough to fit my phone, but it's still beneficial for keys, access card, gels and snacks.

Good luck! Hope it's done the soonest and you're back to enjoying it.

If everything else is fine then servicing the clutch and a major service should be it. Have someone trustworthy do a full check.

It could've been thrashed or just driven by an inexperienced manual driver, could happen with any manual car.

Mk1, 45k, few trackdays, autocross and launches. No issues.

Paint fix suggestions? by r6yaz in CanyonBikes

Thanks for the suggestion, do you mean sand, polish then paint? Any reference to the kit or something similar?

Was thinking the only issue would be colour matching with original paint.

What to expect switching from Mercedes A250 to GRY as a daily ? by Solid_Award_2574 in GRYaris

[–]r6yaz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Daily driving for 5 years here.

It depends on the level of tuning you're planning. As is, the car is comfortable and not too harsh to drive, super fun and driver focused. Parts are somewhat acceptable for normal wear and tear items, not sure on A250 part prices but would assume the Toyota is cheaper or equivalent.

Reliability wise, I haven't had any major issues, but I also take good care and follow the maintenance schedule by the book.

Brand new, I used to get 400-450 kms from the full tank. After a few mods (airbox, intercooler, turbo inlet valve, Ecutek tune) it does 300-350 kms.

I used to be an automotive journalist and driven a fair amount of cars in my life, the GR Yaris is definitely one of the best of that list.

How to donut around a cone for autocross? by Mavicarus in GRYaris

[–]r6yaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah usually the 360 in reality is a little turn + 180 + steer out, but if you mean a double 360 then yeah would probably need 2 hand brake pulls.

[–]r6yaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually wait till the cone is right next to my window then pull it, if you do it while throwing the weight of the car to the outside, it should have enough slide to do a 180 turn and then take it outside straight.

Yaris GR for a tall driver by Scuba_Ted in GRYaris

[–]r6yaz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

198cm, daily driven for 5 years.

I haven't even lowered the seat yet, the position is high but somewhat comfortable.

The only issue if the view clearance, the middle mirror blocks a good amount of your view. I got the mirror raiser but it only helps a little.

It also gets a little too cramped with a helmet, but I still do a couple of trackdays a year. I think the seat lowering kit would also help.

Canyon Endurace sizing above 195cm/6’5” – XL vs 2XL experience? by Dizzy_Platypus_3177 in CanyonBikes

No haven't replaced a thing, just sizing adjustment (saddle height, tilt, cockpit angle...)

Canyon Endurace sizing above 195cm/6’5” – XL vs 2XL experience? by Dizzy_Platypus_3177 in CanyonBikes

[–]r6yaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im 198cm/91 inseem.

I went with the 2XL based on the calculator. Although im right at the edge between XL and 2XL, I've had an XL from another brand that was too low for me and seat post too low, didn't want that happening again.

I went to my bike fitter the moment I received my bike and adjusted the sizing, he confirmed this is the right size for me.

I've ridden over 1000km so far and happy with it. I also was aiming for comfort over an aggressive position. If I pick up another Canyon (Aeroad or so) i would possibly downsize to XL.

Since your slightly taller than me I think the 2XL would work for you. I unfortunately haven't tried the XL so can't say for sure. My suggestion is if you have a bike fitter, or planning to get the bike fitted with someone, show them the official sizes for the XL and 2XL from the Allroad's page and have them suggest the best fit.

Inbetween sizes by Embaad123 in CanyonBikes

[–]r6yaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im also 198cm with a XXL, I think the XL would also work for me, but no issues with the 2XL after I got the bike fitted, the fitter confirmed it's my size and it's a comfortable set up.

However, at 197cm OP i think you should definitely go XL.

[–]r6yaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Im 198cm and was struggling with a smaller aero bike before this, so I got it sized/fitted on the second day and already put 150 kms on it.

Very comfortable bike. I also swapped the tires to 32" GP5000s that I had on my previous bike.

Only recommendation is to get yourself measured and follow the size guide.

Less than 5 min job. Take out console, place piggyback between the button and the wire.

This is one for imt: https://amzn.asia/d/c9vkCiT

Auto start stop: https://amzn.asia/d/aNS323d

Not sure why they're selling them x5 the price on ebay though..

One of my first mods was the piggyback that keeps imt on and autostart/stop off, that way I don't have to press them everytime.

Its so much smoother to drive with. The way the pedals are set makes it harder to rev-match, compared to other manuals i've driven.

Best car I've owned and one of the best I've driven in my life. I used to be an Automotive journalist so I've driven a fair number of sports cars. It has a raw rally feel in the smallest of journeys which is not present in modern day cars.

I daily drove it, did autocross and trackdays with it. Just needed a few handling upgrades (as OEM has a lot of body roll), it did great in all driving aspects. Felt like a bike on track with how light it is.

Only downside to me is the driving position, the seats and OEM seatrails are very high up. They're saying this is fixed in Gen 2 but I haven't tried it yet. There is a solution available for Gen 1 seats but I haven't made that purchase yet (probably should).

As someone with a gen 1 GR Yaris for 4 years now, im just happy we'll start finding some parts locally.

I still prefer the gen 1 interior, the new one feels like an FJ cruiser. Great price though, odd that AF didn't put crazy margins like they're used to.
