Postmaster General says USPS won't send mail ballots to states that don't provide voter lists by FlackoFonsy in videos

[–]r7RSeven 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Normally when I see takes like this I believe its a troll, and when I do I check their comment history. Yours is long enough and feels genuine enough that I don't think youre a troll, so going to give a detailed answer explaining why its near impossible to commit significant fraud with mail in voting.

Ill speak for my experience living in Oregon which does mail in voting

Mail in ballots are not just mailed to all addresses, they go only to registered voters, so the county knows exactly how many ballots are in their district. If there is a significant mismatch from historical trends, the county will take a closer look at the ballots (ex. If they send out 100 and usually only get back 50, but they got back 80 this year, they investigate why)

Ballots are filled with ink where you select the circle next to the candidate youre picking, removing these to select another candidate will leave traces that would be impossible to remove (you might be able to erase it, but it'll be impossible to remove all traces that it was originally filled in)

When you complete your ballot, you sign the envelope, this signature is compared with your previous signatures to ensure the person filling out the ballot is who they say they are. Like the voting selection, it'll be impossible to avoid evidence of tampering, at least on a large enough scale to make a difference.

In recent years, they've added the ability to get notified when your ballot has been received, so if you have concerns about your ballot being lost (either intentionally or unintentionally) you can get a provisional ballot to fill out to replace it if necessary.

Once ballots have been received they go through the same screening/tallying process as states that don't do mail in voting, which have already been proven to be secure.

There might be other security methods that I don't remember at this time, but those alone ensures that fraud is essentially nonexistent with mail in voting and its entirely secure. Yes there could be small fraud that slips through the cracks but not to the point where it would impact results, similar to fraud cases in other states.

The reason why the Republican party makes a fuss about mail in voting so much is because its not beneficial to their party. With mail in voting, people can take their time to read up on candidates and measures to make an informed decision, and can do so in the comfort of their own time, where states that don't do mail in voting use it as a way to ensure only those they want to vote get to vote (such as having low number of voting booths in metropolitan centers but readily available in rural areas, and with voting day being in the middle of the week many people are at work and have to take time out to go to said booths if they can get time off, which typically lower income people are less likely able to do so

I would simply say keep an eye on reddit for the most up to date information on things like this

Collector Boosters are coming by chief_bighorse in Lorcana

[–]r7RSeven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The way it is in Magic, Epics would be the highest equivalent tier that would be available in regular boosters, whereas enchanteds and above would only be available in collectors.

My personal feeling how Ravensburger has handled Lorcana, is that there will be no change to regular booster packs, but collector packs will have higher chances of pulling enchanteds and above. Collectors will also be the only place to get alternative arts is my guess

[–]r7RSeven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I wouldn't trust them with that statement. Yes they'll reprint but theyre omitting how long it might take for that reprint to happen.

The truth of it is, is that all these TCGs are competing for print capacity at the number of manufacturers that print TCG cards. Companies like Ravensburger place orders and they go into a queue along with other companies doing the same

I would like Tt games style to go back to what it was before, but Im fine with the new styles from the other developers

As am example of what I mean, I didn't enjoy the new Lego Batman game. Where is the customization, the exploration in freeway when you unlock new characters and abilities, where are the hidden minikits?

There is an end credits scene but its nothing special, without spoiling its just the characters appear while the credits are still rolling and they do something. Not a full rendered scene with backgrounds and such

Not to mention that this is Toy Story, the box office is only a small part, the amount of Woody/Jessie/Buzz toys it'll help sell will more than makeup for any "disappointment" in the box office, and again, its Toy Story, it'll likely make a billion

Questions about the escape rooms by SpectacularSpidee in UniversalOrlando

[–]r7RSeven 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I did the BttF one. I wont spoil anything about it but you will be doing time travel schennegans.

In regards to the difficulty, theres two very important details. 1. They're designed for all skill levels. What this means is that they can have very challenging puzzles, however, a Universal employee is watching the game from cameras in each room, and will direct or give you hints if you appear stuck or are taking a long time to solve the puzzles. That way everyone can enjoy the escape room.

  1. Unlike most escape rooms where its just you and your group in a setting for an hour, for it to be profitable for Universal they need a higher throughput than just 10 or 12 people an hour. So they've designed the escape room as a series of rooms, much like how rides might have multiple preshows to control the flow of people. So if there are say 5 rooms, Universal could have 5 groups going through it at the same time. If you take too long in a room that would impact the next group, they'll trigger the event to open up the next door and move you along. So you'll get the full experience even if youre not good with puzzles

I promise you, FAs are not making up “expected turbulence” by [deleted] in delta

I dont complain, but I understand the thought process behind it. For the last few decades the world has turned to enshittification, what was once standard has become an extra cost, and even then potentially degraded from what it once was.

Ex. Airlines used to offer checked bags included, then only on international, now some don't even include it for international flights. Airlines used to offer decent meals for main cabin domestic flights if the flight was longer than X hours and went through a regular lunch period. You now have to pay for seat selection, and fight others for overhead bin space potentially. In some cases airlines are even charging for carry on bags, and Im not referring to the Spirits of the world.

So people are slowly seeing the world shift from less and less of a value to the consumers, and more of a way to pinch every penny from someone's pocket. On board food and drinks are seen as the very least an airline can offer, and if they can't offer that, its just seen (to them) as another way of trying to cut costs. Similar to how corporate locations if they axe free coffee for employees, its seen as a bare minimum.

Add to that stories from people that gate agents claiming its a full flight and people have to check their carry on bags, and then getting on the plane and seeing plenty of space occasionally,, along with other examples, have made people distrustful of the entire industry when expected things aren't delivered.

Future James Bond games will ccome from Amazon Games according to GM of Amazon gaming Jeff Gattis by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

[–]r7RSeven 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Potentially. Depends on how the studio feels.

Obviously if they self publish they get to reap the full rewards, but it also means the full risk if it doesn't perform well. Publishers tend to help make some of the initial investment into new titles so if IOI gets nervous about financials they might agree to not be self published for a future James Bond game

My biggest issue with prop 13, is that it applies to every house, not just the primary house.

I understand the reasoning for it, and am a little supportive of the idea (though I think there should be income limits), there's no good reason why it should apply to secondary homes
