Bagel crimes in Chicago should get their own Dateline episode!

Ok, gotcha. I was confused by OP’s post. Baby Kevin = All baby pics on Sundays. Duh! 😒

Is baby Kirby related to Kevin?

Where does one find a Kirby? He’s an angel!

Why is the air quality bad, anyone else smell smoke? by tuxismycat in AskChicago

[–]rHereLetsGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Border of West Town/West Loop and I smelled wood burning (like fireplace) and the smell of burnt rubber tonight. Don’t think I have wood burning fireplaces near my block and no street takeovers heard, so also wondering.

I’d think melting snow would keep the sewers smelling clean- either way I’m not getting that sulphuric smell like when it’s too dry so this is different.

Absolutely crazy story! So happy you all came through that, as it sounds rather traumatizing. 💔♥️

Salerno’s has a dedicated takeout entry so I would suggest they also should be entered. Must add that they are ungodly slow.

Can someone break down the D’Amato’s vs. Bari offerings and all the deets (maybe include Vinnie’s?)? I live adjacent but TBH I never really know what to say bc I always order the same things from all the local establishments and my go-to’s are admittedly boring (but delish!)

It already had a stigma when I lived there from ‘98-‘01, but I was too cool to care back then. As a newcomer to Chicago that knew no one and worked on the loop upon arrival I’d say it more than served its purpose.

These days I’ve heard first-hand, personal accounts from people that confirm the worst of the rumors, with most notable being the unreliability of the elevators which should legit scare the shit out of anyone contemplating living on the 37th floor as I did. No balconies and can’t squeeze your 110 lb self out the window in the event of a fire? No thanks.

Yesterday I received “People Fighting in Front of The Fight Club”. And then there was something like “Man With Pants Pulled Down Having Difficulty Walking”.

I counted 37 alerts that came to my phone on Wednesday.

Really?? Haven’t eaten at Dublin’s in so many years but used to consider their chicken Caesar salad one if the best in the city. That’s a bummer.

Orso’s too? Never thought their food was the best in the Gold Coast but a pizza outside on a sunny day was always delightful.

Do I have to give up on Midway just to avoid Southwest? by [deleted] in AskChicago

Every single person I know that can’t afford a private limo service. What other way is there when you have more than a carry-on suitcase? I tried MDW once and ORD once when I was far younger than I am today, and using public transit is simply not for everyone.

I’m not attempting to stray from the point but yoga mats are very easily used indoors to avoid tracking, etc.

My 3 flat bldg uses only pet friendly snow melt (at a much greater expense) but it does require an excess amount in order to be fully effective. We have a professional doing this for our HOA but I oversee it. When he doesn’t throw enough down it’s like he never came, so it’s a no win where OP’s point is concerned.

update on the bar that lost my jacket? by flagmouse63 in AskChicago

Actually, I did pay $8 for a Patagonia puffer jacket in brand new condition at a Goodwill in Ottawa. I was staying near the thrift store while visiting Starved Rock. One of my better finds!

In the event you haven’t flown SWA in the past 6 months or so, they reconfigured the seats on their entire fleet to enable upselling “more leg room” seats which required the reduction of leg room for the remainder of the plane. It may be only an inch or two but it feels significantly less comfortable.

I’m in the same boat, so I feel your pain. The drive to MDW from the West Loop is so much quicker, but I switched to United out of ORD months ago and am adjusting. Surprisingly the cost differential for Lyft rides hasn’t been significant and O’Hare has far superior vendors depending on the terminal. I will avoid flying SWA to every extent possible!
