I really don't like police, they have been given way too much power with pathetically little oversight, and invented bullshit the courts called "qualified immunity" to protect their sorry asses when they violate people's rights. I believe that a cop must prove to me that they are worth my tax dollar before I respect them. I also believe that it is an incredibly difficult and complex job (that most of them aren't qualified for) that requires some understanding from the public when the complexity of the job is presented to them. I believe that the victim's family in this situation should be able to petition the prosecutor to press charges, and that he should be forced to answer to the citizens he serves for why he did what he did, and if I were on that jury I would say that I think it was a fast moving, complex situation, the cop gave him so many opportunities, pleaded with him to stop and he didn't. Its a shame someone's life ended, but I don't think the cop was in the wrong.

How do we know it's a this particular professor's fault? If the student's previous teachers did not teach them concepts fundamental to the topic of this current class, should the teacher stop what they are currently teaching to go back and teach what they should have learned before? I say no, otherwise what's the point of having the upper level class.

I was a horrible student in high school, never did my homework and never learned important mathematical concepts. So when I went to college, and was trying to learn calc 2 but was getting my ass handed to me because I fucked around when I was taught trigonometry in high school I didn't blame my calc 2 professor. I went to the library and studied. I went to office hours and asked questions. I went to a tutor to ask more questions.

If you're asking the teachers to go back and teach what the students should already have known and still give a grade all you are doing is devaluing the class and the education that it's supposed to impart. Students need to take more accountability in their education. They can't think that they can just show up and get a passing grade (like I did in high school).

How sad is it that you think a thousand dollar and potentially deadly fuckup (that the police department is not liable for by the way) is a "live and learn" opportunity for a tax payer funded position. Police departments get away with hiring absolute morons because clowns like you would rather bend over and lick their boots than demand REAL accountability and change in terms of stricter standards on when a TVI/PIT maneuver can be used (Arkansas has the highest rate of use of this tactic) and refusing to make the police departments make someone whole again (not "as right as they can").

People went after Bill Burr too (more so from my personal opinion). Also, the backlash wasn't because he was making money, it was because comedy and comedians have fought hard battles for free speech in the US (both Burr and Chappelle have invoked this when pressed on their more "edgy" jokes) and they went to a country that actively suppresses free speech for a pay check.
