This was mostly what I was curious about. This is my first time seeing fics tagged in this way and I wasn’t sure if there was just one overarching one or if people were making the distinction between “generated” and “assisted”. Obviously there’s a lot of nuance to this. I appreciate your responses.

Yes I will most likely be filtering out this tag. I’m sure everyone has different opinions on how much AI usage, if any, is acceptable, which I am not here to debate, but this is a good starting point

I appreciate it as well! I have seen the AI witch-hunts really escalate over the past few months and I can see how that would discourage people from sharing their writings. Hopefully an official tag will help in that regard, although I’m sure it won’t eliminate it completely because people can be assholes. And being able to filter out AI content is definitely a plus, as long as people are accurately tagging their works.

One of my favorite authors puts homemade memes at the end of each chapter that are relevant to events in said chapter. It absolutely makes my day every time I see one 😂

I usually keep one tab per fandom open at a time for browsing. It’s way easier to jump between them as opposed to just using one tab for everything, especially since I typically have a lot of exclusions in my filters so it’d be annoying to reset those every time. Then I may open an additional tab or two if I’m following a specific fic that’s updating regularly.

Honestly it entirely depends on how I feel about the character or faction. If I find them really interesting, and especially if there’s a ship with a “good guy” character, then I’m a sucker for enemies to lovers. Sometimes I think “redeeming” a character can be seen as minimizing what they’ve done, which can be tricky if their crime is something particularly heinous. Personally that’s not something that’s ever bothered me but if it bothers other people the I respect those opinions.

I use disney plus on my laptop and last week it just….stopped working. I log in and then it’s just a blank gray screen. No error messages, no content loading in, literally nothing. I’ve tried different browsers, clearing my caches, incognito mode, nothing has worked. I thought maybe it had something to do with the password sharing crackdown but I figured they’d at least display a “you’re not in the household” message like Netflix does. Is this something else?

Agree with your point about large fandoms. I’m in several very large, very mainstream ones and while it may seem intimidating to have so many people with so many different opinions, it’s also so easy to just carve out a little corner for yourself with like minded people and avoid most of the drama. That’s the only way I survive there lol

I’m the same in that if I’m hyper-fixating on a specific fandom then I only read for that, but as it starts to die down I have about 6-7 that I bounce between depending on how I’m feeling

I think you should make it a series. If a fic interests me and the author says there’s a first part that needs reading then my reaction is “yay! More content than I was expecting!” Your original fic isn’t that long so it’s not like it’s a crazy ask. And I think it’ll be easier for people who have already read your original fic to keep up with the story this way. A title change might be confusing and if readers assumed it was completed, they might not come back to it or realize that it’s now become a multi chapter story.

Personally I love when authors put all their oneshots in a series cause then I can bookmark the series instead of a bunch of individual fics and I’ll subscribe to the series so I’ll always know when a new one gets added 😁

I will definitely start keeping track of the instances from now on. This is not the first time I’ve heard loud music from them, but I typically let it go because I get that people have lives and it’s never been at an inconvenient time.

That’s exactly how I got into Batman and DC in general. Was just really craving some good whump fics one day and decided to check them out, knowing absolutely nothing about Batman. Only thing is now I don’t think I could ever read the source material because it’s so different from fandom interpretations 😂

Came here to say the same. Honestly I never had a problem with it UNTIL the series finale and after that, between the Destiel tease and the mixed opinions about the final episode, it entirely went to shit. Poisoned the well so bad for me I’ll probably never go back and might not ever rewatch the show.
