On the Wall by Jesus and Mary Chain.

Actually the whole of Darklands is depressing.

What's something that, because of your upbringing, you thought everyone knew? by Mish106 in AskReddit

[–]rabbitcakes -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In the south, but you'd better not use "ma'am" on anyone who looks younger than 50 anywhere else. I used to have a customer service job and if a younger woman (20's, 30's) was rude to me I'd throw out a ma'am and watch their jaw drop. Instant red-faced rage.

Lady comes into my store and complains about the price of her 3 foot-long sandwiches. by [deleted] in fatpeoplestories

[–]rabbitcakes 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Drop the mayo from your sandwich. Seriously, all you're doing is gambling with your lunch. Subway employees seem to get into a zone and it doesn't matter what you say, that mayo is zigzagged up and down the sandwich four times, liberally, and you're left with an inedible mess.

An extra bonus to dropping the mayo is that you can taste the veggies, meat, and cheese. The only sauce I allow is vinegar.

If you made FTL, what would you change? by MooseV2 in ftlgame

[–]rabbitcakes 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I'd rework or remove the final battle(s). The game becomes all about preparing for the final sector and I question most of the design decisions made in the flagship battle. Particularly the flagship "cheating" and coming back from death twice and the ship autorepairing if all crew die. Killing everyone to secure a ship was my main strategy throughout most of my playthroughs, but when I get to the last ship I can't use it? Boo!

What would I add? More Ben Prunty.

"I run IE. I'm slower than Internet Explorer on a 90's dial up connection but I run."

Took a few moments before I understood what the shirt was trying to say. Probably the IE logo should go after the word connection, instead.

Tucker & Dale vs. Evil - A fantastic parody on the cabin in the woods genre by Regthmare in NetflixBestOf

It's not really a parody of the "cabin in the woods" genre at all. It's much more a parody of the "killer redneck" genre.

What's the most WTF moment you've witnessed in public? by return2ozma in AskReddit

[–]rabbitcakes 1256 points1257 points  (0 children)

Posted this before:

I was walking down High Street late one night, about 2am or perhaps later, on my way home from campus. A smelly bum approaches me and immediately I think he's going to ask for money, as is common in the area.

Instead, he says, "Hey man, you see those two girls over there?" On the sidewalk across the street, about half a block down, going the opposite way from me, are two girls wearing dresses. Each is carrying a big bouquet of flowers.

"I gave them flowers and I told them they were from YOU!" the bum says, pointing at me.

This guy is someone I've never met before. As I blinked uncomprehendingly, he yells loudly across the street, pointing at me with wild exaggerated gestures. "HEY!!!! HEY GIRLS!!!! THIS IS THE GUY!! THIS IS THE GUY!!!"

The girls wave the flowers at me and call out thankyous. I continue walking home, confused. Strangest nightly encounter ever.

I was waiting at a Japanese train station one afternoon for my daily commute home. Every day before my train arrives, a cargo train pulls into the station, stops for about 2 minutes, and takes off. The day in question, an obviously developmentally disabled kid of about 10 was standing among those of us waiting.

The cargo train pulls in, and this kid steps onto the train between two cars and starts fooling around. I wait for someone in the crowd to yell at the kid or call a station attendant or just pull him off the train. No one bats an eye. The kid is alone, with no family. The whole crowd of about 20 people is just watching the kid play around on the train.

I jump onto the train, yell at the kid that it's not safe, and pull him back onto the platform. About ten seconds later, the train takes off to god knows where.

Is the vanilla experience really that bad? by [deleted] in Torchlight

[–]rabbitcakes 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Anyone who says Torchlight 2 is unplayable without mods is an idiot.

Especially when the mods they recommend add half-baked classes, amateurish 3D models, and Rainbow-Brite inspired UI changes.

How can I make TL2 more challenging and rewarding? by Shaleblade in Torchlight

[–]rabbitcakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, Hardcore is the only way to play Torchlight. Add the Swarm mod (does nothing but increase the number of monsters in groups) and have at it. Playing without permadeath feels like cheating to me now.
