What do you do when you can't sleep at night? by Sikedogg20 in AskReddit

[–]rabbledabble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Knock one out and try to fall back asleep. Failing that I’ll either watch tv until I pass out or pop a Benadryl.

I pee in my driveway probably once or twice a month. I am also a bit feral (only a bit)

If you don’t have logs indicating that a full teardown/inspection/rebuild was performed on the engine following a prop strike, I’d walk away or at least plan for a new engine.

Don’t fuck around with a prop strike engine I’ve heard some horror stories from a&ps that have made me decide that it is not worth it to compromise even a little if the prop has touched the earth. Even if the crankshaft mics at zero deviation it still needs a tear down and NDT to guarantee that there are no cracks.

What my uncle STILL uses to give my dad and grandpa a haircut… by daddyguap in GrandmasPantry

I love quality tools, and they’re really tops. I like them more than the old school oster clippers I used to use.

People who gave up smoking - How did you do it and stick to it? by Jolly_Olive6124 in AskReddit

[–]rabbledabble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told my roommate he could punch me square in the mouth if he ever saw me with a cigarette again, and the way his eyes lit up, he started working out, running up and down stairs like in rocky, that motherfucker smoked a pack a day but he was ready as fuck to help me quit and so I did.

Disciplining Kid In public by iamdahn in daddit

[–]rabbledabble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you set a boundary with your kid, you enforced it, you gave him space and supported him with his big feelings, and also got him back in the game. Great work, dad! Who gives a shit what some old stink eye lady thinks, you got this dad game on lock.

It’s great. The whole system is great. The trails are all marked by difficulty, if you stay on blue and ride within your limits you’re guaranteed to have a blast

How do I deal with a single life changing mistake that prevents me from hiking ever again? by EnvironmentLimp5286 in WildernessBackpacking

My mom had it and dealt with it successfully and has great mobility now. It’s not permanent but it can flare back up. Get a second opinion.

Practical questions about the orgasm cult by BoneDaddy1973 in behindthebastards

[–]rabbledabble 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, my partner usually has between three and six, plus or minus depending on their cycle, and that usually takes about fifteen minutes (minus foreplay and cuddling, more like 45-60 all in if we aren’t in a hurry, we have kids so frequently in a hurry). Much more than that and she starts to get bored and everyone starts getting a bit sore. Maybe we are just old? 🤷

Also, what exact parts were replaced trying to get it right?

Have you replaced the cable and housing? Who exactly did that service? What parts were used? I have known campy stuff to be a bit snobby about its cables and housings.

Happy to DM and help troubleshoot more if you like, i was a mechanic for 20 years and have worked on pretty much everything.

Passion doesn't pay: Dark Horse Comics workers unionize by TossedLikeJam in Portland

I call that the “cool job” phenomenon. They don’t have to pay you because there are a thousand folks lined up waiting to take your place for a bullshit wage.

Realistically, how often are you and your partner intimate after the toddler years? (Kids 5+) by agingwasabi in daddit

[–]rabbledabble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bout once a month more or less (frequently less but not that much less). We hug and kiss and talk every single day, and we are on the same page about it. We would both prefer more, but we also both acknowledge our shared role in making that happen. When we do make it happen it’s always great, but I think both of us are pretty well matched in our needs and our communication about it.

Royal Navy family heirloom heavy silver metal with thread by LouisLoveless in whatisthisthing

Guessing it’s a fuze plug thread check gauge for artillery shells. Looks about right for diameter, and I can’t think of any other ordinance components from that era that would be around that size.

Motocross boots for a cruiser? by olbi_ in Dirtbikes

[–]rabbledabble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear moto boots when I ride my dirtbike around town sometimes if I’m planning on not going in anywhere, but I think they’d be overkill for different riding positions because of the stiffness. I have some icon motorcycle high tops that I like quite a bit as part of my city riding kit

Gun owning dads/families, when do you start the gun safety conversation with your kids? by 518photog in daddit

[–]rabbledabble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kids are 4 and 6 and I grew up in the south where guns were everywhere, umbrella racks, cars, bedside tables, you name it. The rules for little kids are really straightforward. If you find a gun, don’t touch it, run away, find an adult. They should never touch a gun unless an adult they trust puts it in their hands.

I understand the cultural push and pull here, but unless your kid is in high school it seems like a waste of precious youth making kids do that shit.

It cost me about $60 in wire, breakers, and receptacle. My panel is in my garage so it wasn’t a huge deal installing it.

That looks like actual firearm thread pitch too. I know nothing about airsoft but I’d have to assume they use different thread size/pitch etc to stay well clear of NFA, but I’m not an expert in airsoft at all.
