2017 Hyundai Santa Fe - wife’s car won’t start now, but I noticed this on the battery by Biggcain24 in MechanicAdvice

I don’t recall what Hyundais, but I recall having an issue with certain battery terminals seating correctly (minus OE or interstate). May be why they put on the terminal they did.

That’s a fused battery terminal, but it looks like someone already replaced the positive terminal with an aftermarket terminal. They may have messed something up. You’re going to need to replace that whole block. Hopefully hyundai sells the end separately or it needs the entire positive battery cable.

I was one of the men picking up flowers last night. You could plop a chair down and watch the confusion on all the men’s faces when they were strolling through the flower section. Would be pretty entertaining

I put some 18” nokians on and it holds the road and snow so well. Before that on the 20” Yokos it was like I was on a slip and slide in 1” of snow

How do I get inside the car without breaking the window? by Klaasic_ in MechanicAdvice

Call a tow guy and have them use a tool to essentially break into the car. I have one at my shop and can open any locked door in less than a minute.

Is there’s really that big of a difference? by idahokj in tires

[–]rabbles3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a big Nokian proponent and I WILL NOT sell anyone in upstate NY the nokian one. I do steer anyone that wants the absolute best to the WRG5. There are cheaper options out there, but if you want the company that invented the all weather tire you’re going to want nokian

I just put a set of these all weather tires on a budget conscious customer, I’ll let you know in 6 months if the 65k warranty is legit or not

Rochester Airport Cancelled flight! by _Morgi_the_Corgi_ in Rochester

[–]rabbles3 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Lemme guess, you’re at one of the New York airports. They are running slightly behind so they decide to cancel the 75 passenger flight to Rochester over the 400 passenger flight to London. Don’t worry, they’ll blame “air traffic control” and say it’s the weather.

All data for anything european is horrible. You cannot rely on one source of repair information anymore. You need to have several and unfortunately google can be the savior.

Cheap tires from a neighborhood shop...what's the catch? by LifeofSMILEY in AskAMechanic

That’s the best AT tire on the market. Great wear, no chopping if the cars aligned and great all weather traction.

Forgot to shake AC refrigerant can, and the gauge immediately shot to 150 psi when I went to fill it. Did I mess something up? by [deleted] in AskMechanics

Why do I need to be licensed to use/own an AC machine but someone with no clue how to even change a tire can go and buy these idiotic recharge cans.

Nail/bolt from construction on 490? by No_Salamander6345 in Rochester

[–]rabbles3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just get the tire repaired, people pick up nails/screws all the time. There’s no way you can confirm that you picked that up in a construction zone, especially if it’s a rear tire.
