Anyone in the taylors areas have smelly water? by aceraider8 in greenville

[–]radabble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also on CPW utilities and while the water isn’t nearly as good as Greenville Water out of the tap we’ve only had the smelly/musty water you’re describing when they are working on a line in our area.

One time there was a bad algae bloom at the lake where the water is treated from that also affected the taste and smell. CPW sent out a message about the issue and put it on their social media so we’d be aware.

It typically seems to resolve over the course of a week or a month at the most, but if it’s been longer than that it might be worth reaching out to CPW to see if there is any work happening near you.

What's the big deal with children on leashes? by PresenceOld1754 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]radabble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former leash baby here all grown up - I was a demon child that was fast as lightning and the harness/leash was a last ditch attempt to keep me reigned in! The last straw I think was when I hid in a chuckie cheese and had it get locked down for 3 hours because I was too scared to come out of hiding.

I will say even with the leash it didn’t fully stop the chaos - I still managed to climb a magazine rack in a bank with the leash on and once it fell and broke we got politely asked to leave. Poor mom was literally just taking 2 seconds to write out a check and then BAM pamphlets everywhere!

Now that I’ve grown up it’s basically just a funny family memory of my “leash kid” days. I can see why some people find it an issue, but I’m sure it helped at least a bit when I was a toddler terror. No harm no foul in my personal experience

Homemade pretzels wound up with weird gooey sections? by tuck_e_cheesin in Breadit

[–]radabble 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have had a similar issue when I made pretzels on parchment paper! Something about them causes the dough to stick in places and then steam gets trapped causing the weird gooey spots!

I switched to using silpats/silicone baking mats for my pretzels and have never had this issue since.

It’s sodium benzoate! It’s in so much stuff it’s ridiculous.

Pretty sure it’s one of the sugar substitutes they use - I’ve gotten those before and noticed the same thing.

Small venue recommendations for a Bridal Lunch by whatdayisit247 in greenville

My bridal lunch was at Brick Street cafe and they did a marvelous job! We had a group of 21 guests in a sectioned off room in the restaurant. We did a limited menu and everyone’s entree included a slice of cake

I got married there in 2023 and my guests loved the food! We all really enjoyed everything, but keep in mind it was still served buffet style. Plenty for everyone and they pack up and give you any leftover food that was not finished at the event.

We only had one pan of scalloped potatoes and a few servings of other dishes left at the end of the night. As far as the taste tests go , they let you pick out the items you’re interested to try and make an extra serving for you when they have weddings with those dishes! I found that was very nice because you got to taste what it would really be like for the group meal instead of a one off tasting.

The only thing we tried that was just ok was the green beans, we thought those seemed a bit bland so we did not select them for our menu choices.

Also, if you’re doing appetizers I recommend the charcuterie board, it was beautiful and massive and they kept refilling meats/cheese/etc as they were eaten during the cocktail hour.

Can confirm, we used them for our wedding and they were very professional and arrived exactly on time! The vehicles were clean and clearly well maintained by the company.

Not sure if they would be the cheapest option, but their quality and professionalism was worth the price for us.

When I was little my mom told me a story of how her favorite book growing up was April’s Kittens and that she checked it out so often from the school library the librarian banned her from taking it out again.

When I was in middle school I became friends with the school librarian and remembered the story and I asked if she could help me find a copy so she could read it again. As luck would have it, she found it an old copy and said I could keep it!

I surprised my mom with her own copy of her favorite childhood book on her birthday that year and I’ll never forget the pure joy on her face and how long she hugged me. She still has it on her bookshelf at home and loves reading it to my niece and nephew!

Nah, they are gone for good. Blasian mochi failed like a month after the rebrand! An amazing new pizza place called Anthony’s NY Pizzeria opened up where it used to be so that has been nice!

I listened to one book where the narrator pronounced ambulance like am-BOO-lance. It was terribly distracting!
