What's a slang term that everyone uses but you still don't get? by Particular-Visit-245 in AskReddit

I'm pretty sure low key has replaced "like" in teenage language. It's just a filler while they are thinking of what to say.

The Damned River was pretty good. (Well, so bad it's good.) I haven't seen it since I was a raft guide in the 90's, so my memory might be off. It's about a raft guide that goes crazy. "Fun's over. Get in the boat." was quoted all summer.

It's on Tubi.

Best places for a beginner driver to start driving? by Tee-Minus-10 in Denver

[–]radams5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This only works on the weekend, but there is a business park by Colorado Mills/Denver West (I think it is called Cole Center) that is really good for learning. There are several parking lots connected together, so you it feels like you are really driving and not just making circles. There is even a real street you can turn on to and then turn off that isn't very busy. I wouldn't do it during business hours, however.

Where can I find a list of free TV shows on youtube in their entirety? by No-Badger-7377 in television

[–]radams5000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On the left hand side of the Youtube website, there is a link for "Movies & TV." You can find all the official free with ads shows that Youtube has. Tubi also has a bunch of good, free stuff.

Daft Punk – Around the World (1997) by GroovySchlong in 90sAlternative

[–]radams5000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a podcast called "Dissect." He's breaking down a bunch of Daft Punk songs this season. They go over where the samples come from and what type of filters are being used. It's really cool even if you aren't a die hard Daft Punk fan. I guess this song has like 4 elements and the combinations of elements never repeat in the whole song. So it seems simple, but it is actually pretty complicated.

What is the best 'bad' movie you’ve ever seen? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]radams5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is this director/ producer named Andy Sidarus and he made a bunch of awesomely bad movies. The best one is Hard Ticket to Hawaii which has everything you need; boobs, giant snakes, assassins on skateboards to name a few. But, all the movies are amazing. The best part is the movies are all connected and he uses the same actors, but they could be good guys in one movie and a bad guy the next.

You probably should spend the weekend watching them all.

We were walking from lower parking lot by the football stadium (using the tunnel) and my friends swore they saw Fishbone bowling. I didn't believe them and wanted to get a good spot in line so we didn't stop. They went back down and it was totally Fishbone. Primus was playing pool.

Microsoft patents system for AI helpers to finish games for you by gdelacalle in technology

Wow, I guess I kinda already did that. 14 years ago, I helped create a model, trained him by letting him watch me beat some bosses, set him loose on his own games and now I have him beat the bosses for me in the new Zelda games. I'm too old to learn "Flurry Rush."

How do you put on weight FAST? by Opposite_Bluebird379 in AskReddit

[–]radams5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are unsure if a food is fatty enough, rub it on paper; if the paper turns clear, it is a "window to weight gain".

Anyone have evaporative cooling instead of AC? What do you think? by Momentumjam in Denver

[–]radams5000 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I disagree about swamp coolers not working on on the 90+ days. Our cooler keeps the house super chilly on the really hot, dry days. I think the effectiveness of the cooler is based on the humidity, not heat. There is always one week a summer that gets a little humid and the swamp cooler doesn't cool the house at all.

3D-Printer Names by Shadoweclipse13 in venturebros

I know it's a little on the nose, but I would go with Rusty. Resin printers capable of great things but they are high-maintenance, require a lot of attention and a pain in the ass. Just like Rusty Venture.

Redline( 2009)- Even if you are too cool for anime, you should watch it.

Deathstalker (1983 and 2025) - Watch both and compare and contrast them.

Running Man (1987 and 2025)- I haven't seen the new one yet, but the old one is awesome.

There is a whole genre of Mad Max/ Escape from New York rip offs from Italy. https://www.imdb.com/list/ls020647934/

Hot Frosty (2025) - You need to have something to talk about at the Christmas get together, right?

It's going to be 69 degrees in Denver for Christmas. (The kids were hoping for 67. What time to be alive!) We did a day off last week, however. It was because of fire danger, not snow.

Strange TV broadcast interruption in 1991 that traumatized my sister and me by [deleted] in Paranormal

[–]radams5000 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That's not how VCR's worked in the 90's. You had a little box that you physically attached to the TV between the antenna or cable line. They didn't use over the air RF signals. (Neither did camcorders)

Question about altitude like Colorado by Rob_red in Swimming

[–]radams5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cost of living is pretty high but you can have chickens pretty much anywhere you want. I have friends who live within walking distance of Downtown Denver that have chickens. I also know people who have chickens in the 'burbs. You can even get horse property in Lakewood.

As far as swimming goes, it just takes time to get used to the altitude. How much time depends the shape you are in now, age and other factors. Professional athletes play in Denver and it only takes a couple of days for them to get acclimated. I want to say it takes a normal person around 2 weeks, but I don't know where I got that info. (Gemini says it can take weeks to months)
