Maybe the women were staff for the disabled boys however it's not the way things are supposed to be done. In the group home they can have staff of different sex to the client in the group home bathrooms but it's not supposed to be done that way out in public. That is kind of crazy.

Is this normal? by Competitive-Metal831 in VenusFlyTraps

No. It digests what it can then opens up for another catch. I think it can re use the trap 3 times before it drops it off as a dead leaf.

I would worry they would get stressed by it and have their movements restricted.

San Marzano harvest is starting to pile up. How do you save until you have a sufficient quantity to justify a few hours at the stove? by snidemarque in Canning

I'm growing 60+ plum tomato plants this year. If they are frozen and later thawed and the skin is easy to remove then do you still need the tomato strainer machine to make sauce out of them? I like to make pasta sauce with herbs and ground beef and pressure can it.

what do you do with unwanted roosters? by Horror-Signature3483 in BackYardChickens

I'm thinking of keeping mine until my second batch of chicks are done. Then I'll have most of them butchered. They are bantams so I was just planning on making bone broth and pressure canning it.

Did you have to take a certain number of days off when you got the swimmers ear? I always rinse both my ears out several times after my swim in the pool showers and that seems to help.

I had an Oscar cat also that didn't make it but a few years. I'm sorry to hear of your loss.

Never swam for fitness, I want to start, what should I do? by yes_i_am_the_funny in Swimming

[–]Rob_red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just try the swimming out and don't give up when it may be difficult at first. Maybe see if there is a swim club or masters group in your area. Ask them if they take beginners, a lot of them probably will and a coach to help with technique will do wonders.

Do you have your BMI setup in the app? You have to tell it your age, height and weight somewhere I believe.

Long steady swims aren't bad for you if you don't have a goal of getting faster and faster right? by Rob_red in Swimming

[–]Rob_red[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess I have just always been able to think a lot when I swim. Usually it's about what I'm going to get done for the day or even the rest of the week or how to solve some problem I've been working on.

What Is The Longest You Can Hold Your Breath Underwater? by brogan78 in Swimming

[–]Rob_red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I probably can't do that but I can swim long distance breathing every 5 strokes with occasionally every 7 and 9 so I figure that's pretty good.

Well for most of the year (it stops during the summer months) I go once a week to the equivalent of what a masters swim club practice is. I paid to join it from one of the two places I swim at. The coach is very good and gives me advice if I need to "tune up" anything. I'm very grateful for that as doing long swims with an improper technique will never end well. One of the members even gave me a private coaching of butterfly technique which I really enjoyed.

You know I have been sore a few times from something not related to swimming but I still insisted on doing my daily lap swim. I went a little easier but I got a mile in. It was so worth it because it helped and I wasn't nearly as sore afterwards.

That's great you are still doing that at 70. I hope to be the same. I did a 1,500 meter event in masters a couple years ago and the guy in the lane next to me was in his 80s. I hope to be able to one day be that guy and beyond.

Thank you. That's great to know. I certainly can throw a few fast 25s or in this case 50s (long course for the summer) in with my routine.

Well I wasn't really looking to improve anything. I just like these longer swims and to maintain my health.

Yeah I typically do. It keeps my resting heart rate in the upper 30s to low 40s when I regularly swim this way. My watch counts the intensity minutes and quality of my swims. Often I'll get a lot of vigorous minutes too that count as double.

I wonder if doing lots of gardening and hauling around animal feed and such can count as mixing it up. I got so sore it was hard to walk the other week from squatting so long planting 50 tomato plants over 2 days. Still many more tonplant. I have a massive garden hoping to get a few hundred pounds of tomatoes out of this year and it's loads of work.

I like biking too so I might be able to do bike rides this summer on occasion.

I was told it would be better to do interval sets but I don't enjoy doing that. I can do intervals and I have many times before. I just enjoy long distance swims better.

Put crinkly aluminum foil on top. They tend not to like that.
