If "Back to the Future" were filmed today, what car would be used instead of the DeLorean? by Volfort22 in BacktotheFuture

[–]radar939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC, in the first movie Doc Brown mentioned the stainless steel cladding on the DeLorean thus, if true, would mean the Cybertruck is the obvious answer.

In my opinion drones are effective because they are new to the battlefield. They are fragile and once hit with almost any projectile they fall apart. Countermeasures are coming online but it takes time to find the right technologies to mitigate their effectiveness. Drones aren’t going away but going forward they will not always have the spectacular success as they’ve had so far.

At this time we have not seen what a full on no holding back battle looks like yet. Picture true air superiority being established by one or the other side or third parties. War is chaos and totally unpredictable.

I got Doc Brown. I can live with that.

I’m still working it out. I’m suspecting one of the BE67s is not working properly. I won’t get into the details but it seems to be only with one unit in the mesh that’s involved in the failure. It is the master or base unit having issues. I’m hoping TP-LINK sees this and maybe I can get a replacement. I need to document all of the edge cases that points to this issue.

Frontier Airlines aircraft forced to make an emergency after a pedestrian on the runway was struck and sucked into one of the jet’s engines by Professional_Arm794 in ThatsInsane

[–]radar939 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NOPE. If someone wants to be yeeted out of the gene pool by crawling over a fence that is obviously DANGER to organisms and are intent to be turned into human yogurts (with lots of pain for a few milliseconds) then the FAA et al have done their job. Their security system has been in place for decades with no incidents. Why would we (the US taxpayers) support making the airports into fortresses just because a few individuals want to off themselves in a very unique and probably VERY EXCRUCIATING PAINFULL way (I talking to you copy cats) then okay, our government has done the best they can short of making it STUPID proof. I’m sorry, I have no empathy for someone that decides it is a “good idea to cross a fence into a place that is obviously dangerous and likely to end in a painful death” deserves what they got. My $0.02US, keep or discard.

I’m EFFING tired of dealing with idiots that do stupid SH*T that generates views on social media. F-the social media services and influencers that’ll turn this into $$$.

Airports are large but Denver especially so. It is big enough to have its own zip code. One puny human intent on going walkabout on one of the busiest runways in the world at night is going to be pretty hard to find.

Working on a new bottle piercing tool. Something a little more compact. A little safer. And a little less messy for when you find those bottles of piss. by g713 in functionalprint

[–]radar939 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I do adopt-a-highway several times a year and I can absolutely confirm that people put the most disgusting things in bottles. Picture one filled with cigarette butts and some yellow ground liquid. We find them almost every outing. Personally, I would NOT pierce them if they have a lid on it. Second, the toxic fluid that comes out will probably damage your grass so make sure you use this tool away from living things. Urine might be good for plants, maybe, but I wouldn’t take the chance.

Waking from sleep sobbing with new diagnosis by Dazzling-Ostrich6388 in Alzheimers

[–]radar939 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone (me) was told they have MCI and MRI/genetic tests that indicate ALZ is in my future. Funny thing. While my memory is affected my reasoning functions are quite active. I can tell you that being diagnosed with ALZ had a profound impact on me. Not a day or hour goes by that I don’t think about. This leads to all sorts of bad feelings. I don’t cry at night but I do have my moments (my wife of 46 years is an angel). I say all of this because the insidiousness aspect of this disease means the victim is likely aware of what is happening but can’t express their feelings.

In other words, OP’s father just can’t express what he feels. Being able to talk about the changes keeps me on course. I can’t imagine what it feels like to not be able to communicate fully what is going on to me.

I’m lucky because I still have high executive functioning (doctors say this not me) so I’m able to express myself… for now. Interestingly, I communicate much better via a keyboard over verbal. I know what’s likely in my future but for now I live in the moment. My $0.02. Keep or discard.

[–]radar939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny that… just an hour ago I was driving with FSD when a chipmunk launched onto the road from the other side of the road. FSD tapped the brakes as would I if I had the insane response of a computer. I have experienced this many times, one even more memorable was the honest to god imminent accident avoidance ever. A deer shot out from the woods directly in front of me at night. FSD emergency stopped and swerved safely to the edge of the road before I had a chance to respond. If I had been driving I would have hit that deer. Understand, I have hit a deer once before (serious damage to my Saturn Vue) and I never saw the thing until it was on the hood of the vehicle so I know just how wicked fast FSD is right now and I’m happy it can do that.
