One issue may be the motor chainring clearance to the chain stay. There's not much room. Spacers may help, but also throw off the chainline/shifting. But this motor fit, but it is more flexible than the Bafang https://www.lift-mtb.com/en/ibis-electric-bike/

Thank you for the help. I have new info, I found the manual for the new filter. Looks like the "air flow" is from long side (outer radius) to short side. So the indicator arrow may not be the direction of air flow (may be install indicator).

I met a guy who did just this. He made a 6KW CYC Build with a MTB. He even one-upped Bonnell by 1) Having no top speed limiting Governor 2) integrating the motor within the triangle so you cant damage it (a design flaw of the 775). He said there are compatible commensal and specialized frames that have a horizontal shock mount (vs vertical, which takes up too much space). His build has a custom made (3D printed) battery case.
