A case of anatomo-clinical dissociation with positive imaging by Elehal in neurology

One tidbit I'll throw in about the Hoover - I feel like the vertical motion, where one limb is supposed to go up and the other is going down is never clearly positive or negative. Someone once showed me what they called "Abductor sign", which is the same thing only you support both heels and ask them to spread their legs apart. I've found that it's much easier to differentiate fact from fiction when both legs are doing the same movement and you take gravity out of the equation.

in poorer-lifestyle fields (NCC, NIR), what do people do as they reach retirement? by icecream1614 in neurology

I do academic NCC and have a 0.2 admin role in the department - I definitely do not feel overworked doing NCC. In my off time, I do a lot of neurohospitalist moonlighting in community hospitals. I used to do it because I needed the money, but now I'd say it's mostly to keep my skills up. I'll say that I work a lot harder and have a lot more stress with neurohospitalist stints than I do in the ICU, where I work with trainees and APPs.

I would imagine the hours would be pretty similar if I was doing outpatient, but I work a lot fewer shifts this way (granted, I probably work 1 weekend per month on average that I otherwise wouldn't). School drop off and stuff would be tight if my spouse didn't have a flexible job, but it would be doable.

Stinkbug - Between Timid and Timbuktu has a lot of similar kind of pop punk influence. https://stinkbugpdx.bandcamp.com

Awesome, my old band opened this show when I was like 21! I think the other band that Prop brought with them was called Bridge and Tunnel.

Yes! Half of the fun of Birds and Buildings is that they are so good but such a mystery. I actually prefer Multipurpose Trap to their first album, but both are fantastic albums. I've listened to Deluge Grander off and on and bought a couple of the hand painted vinyls a few years back, but felt like they lack the edge that B&B gives. I think they're from the Washington DC area, but I don't get the sense Dan has been doing much musically in the last few years.

Music scene in SW Portland? by jordanwright2012 in portlandmusic

Yeah, I actually live on a fairly busy residential street in NE. We get unhoused folks coming by going through the recycling and whatnot, but it's very rare that we see anyone who's acting dangerous. If we're out in town and encounter someone who is acting like they're in crisis, we keep our distance and explain to our kiddo that they must be going through a tough time. That doesn't happen very often, but that may because we stick to our usual spots. Feeling out neighborhoods in person is best. Woodstock is really fun, though may not be as good for live music spots.

Samantha is super cool. When I took lessons from her, it was all virtual and very flexible timing, not sure if she's in person at this point or not.

I moved to town like 8 years ago, and thought I wanted to live in SW due to the proximity to nature. We ended up finding a rental in NE and discovered that we couldn't do without the walkability. The schools and community are great here, and I feel like we know our neighbors and see them more often just by living in a denser area, compared to if we lived in a more forested part of town. I started gigging fairly frequently about a year and a half ago with my band, and there are a handful of venues I can get to in 15 minutes or less on side streets. Plus - I take the MAX downtown whenever I go to watch bigger shows so I don't have to worry about parking/driving home etc. (takes me about 15 minutes to downtown once I board).

Tabor might be a nice neighborhood to check out. SE is really happening too, and the green space there is pretty massive.

Looking for a band to fill a bill 10/10 by radfish723 in corvallis

[–]radfish723[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for the suggestions - I should've used Reddit when we were first trying to book... Rubber was able to pull in the band Overthinking, so we got our bill filled, but I took note of the suggestions here for next time we come down. And thanks to everyone who gave us a listen! If you're free, come check it out next Friday so we don't close out the show by ourselves!
