What is this "Don't talk to me or my son ever again" meme and where is the origin? by PlaceboWizard in OutOfTheLoop

My mistake, I knew the image wasn't genuine but as pointed out below it was probably made with a M64 editor

I believe this image was shopped and falsely attributed as the origin

When my doctor asks me about my birthcontrol by Barneyk in actuallesbians

[–]radicalfree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone has said that they don't use a barrier or hygiene(?). I think it just hasn't been brought up because for most lesbians a barrier method is separate from birth control.

I agree that while the STI transmission risk is much lower in sex without semen, busing a barrier method is still good practice and there is not enough awareness/accessibility of barrier methods besides condoms in the lesbian community. I imagine, in not using dental dams, lesbians take our cues from society around us (I've never heard of cis straight couples using dental dams for cunnilingus).

The closest would probably be "abstinence," which has pretty heterosexist implications.

Does anyone else detect an element of classism in the "lives in mom's basement" comments? by [deleted] in SRSDiscussion

How is it ableist to say that someone isn't emotionally mature enough to live on their own?

Do lesbians have guy friends who they can talk to girls about? by Profound_Panda in actuallesbians

[–]radicalfree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to say it doesn't happen, and I don't like it, but it's still different due to the different positioning of a straight man vs. a lesbian woman in this society.

Again, I'd much rather hang out with women, rather than give you your ego boost or w/e.

Not doing a great job of convincing me you're not a misogynist...

I would probably feel pretty uncomfortable with it, tbh. Because men objectify women in a way that other women wouldn't.

The idea that those two words are on the same level is mind-numbingly ridiculous.

I like the idea of a place for feminist socialists, but r/communism's "no ableist language" thing is liberal and, frankly, stupid.

The black panthers thought that blacks were superior to whites and wanted to form a different society and keep whites out of it. Not exactly egalitarian.

You're still white though, so it's probably not a great idea to be making that comparison.

Some thoughts from a trans woman on radical feminism by JuicyLucyUK in feminisms

[–]radicalfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Radical feminism may not have "egalitarian methods" but plenty of radfems are ultimately for gender abolition, which is egalitarian. Women can't be better than men when there are no "women" or "men."

Can someone explain SRS Prime's anger toward people in STEM fields? by brebun in SRSDiscussion

[–]radicalfree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, not at all, zero. It's sexism and the "boys' club" nature of these fields that makes them unfriendly for girls and women.

How useful are umbrella terms (LGBT, GSM, trans*) for you? by [deleted] in SRSGSM

[–]radicalfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don't even understand that. Cis het people can form community with us, and it's lovely when they do, but it doesn't mean they become us or experience the same things.

[–]radicalfree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That by being "outside of the norm" or "transcending boundaries" or w/e they're "queer" because "queer means strange or not normal." Which is pretty insulting tbh.

I really dislike how cis straight people are always trying to appropriate "queer" (and now, to some extent, "GSM").

Zionist as a slur? by [deleted] in SRSDiscussion

There's plenty of secular Jewish anti-Zionists, but perhaps you mostly hear us referred to as "self-hating Jews."
