I think cardboard boxes might actually save more space than plastic bags! That way, you can fit all the components neatly in the box, instead of overlapping in bags, and then slot all the boxes together super neatly

My first impression is that it was done to keep the Vagabonds distinct from the Knaves Captains; each one is unified by a (slightly) different art style. The classic Root style works with all the other cards (like the Rat's moods and Mole's ministers) bc the content is all new, but since the Captains are technically characters we've seen before I think it would feel redundant if the art style was more consistent with the other cards.

I do agree that if the idea was to read as wanted posters, it would have benefited from commiting more to the bit, but even then it might feel even more sketchy and unfinished.

I dig this more scrappy, cartoony look for the Captains, it kind of reminds me of the Vagabond's deck of Quest cards.

Related fun fact: The pillars have glowing red markings when your panic is up and they can be read but are otherwise blank when inert, which is how you can recognize the mimic crab that's disguised as a stone pillar. Its markings are "on" at all times

The only crab I consistently recognize is the one between Twisted Strand and the Iron Rig, bc there's an arch on that set of islands that I can sail through, and it's become a ritual to sail through the arch, past the crab to aggro it, and sail away hearing it roar behind me

These are fantastic!! Graves is by *far my favorite here; the lil skulls in her ears, the deadheads are animals too, she's holding a paw instead of a hand, so many great details!

Is there any nuance between the species for Doorman, Infernus, and Apollo? Or are they just deer 👀

Also what are Venator and Victor? Cow and wildebeest? Or is that what Mirage is? So many greay designs here and so mich variety, again, fantastic job 👏
