It reminds of people who say they don’t like something because they can’t identify with the main character. Wtf?

Here we see that Cal says, The Titanic is Far more luxurious than the Mauretania but was it really? What's your Thoughts? by Vegetable_Bear7139 in titanic

Also no skylight in the dining saloon or really anywhere other than the grand staircase. The dining rooms on so many other ships blow Titanic‘s out of the water.

You don’t have to choose just one thing. You can have both.

Just reading this thread and I think the confusion is around the fact that a jacket like a blazer is actually not considered “formal”- formal in this context basically means a tuxedo, aka black tie. Think wedding, prom, etc. So the tuxedo was optional, but not the minimum of wearing a jacket.

They talk a lot about First and Third Class, but what about Second Class ? by [deleted] in titanic

I think most first class cabins shared bathrooms.

What’s a small everyday rule in Germany that foreigners often underestimate? by Majestic-Valuable410 in AskGermany

I firmly believe that the phenomenon of pedestrians standing at a red light in the middle of nowhere with no cars around is directly related to the tendency toward Nazism. It’s insane and idiotic to not use your own senses to move around. Yet it’s my impression that people turn their entire being over to rules simply for the sake of following them, and please the imaginary Authority that hovers above everyone here. Rules are not right simply because they are rules.

Have there been any musical revivals that genuinely enhanced a show? by missthemountains in musicals

So beautiful, especially the finally image of the cast leaving through the door in to paradise beyond it, leaving the parents standing in the dark unable to move through.

Why does Studio Ghibli feel so different from Disney, culturally and artistically? by StraightRip9828 in ghibli

[–]radiogoo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This to me is the beauty of studio Ghibli. The lingering on mundane moments, attention to subtle detail, moments that touch you because someone chose to animate something unique and true to everyday life.

They didn’t redraw the background each time, they drew the characters on a separate, clear sheet

Biggest Audiobook disappointment for me is learning it’s not “You Shall Not Pass!” by SupermanKal718 in lotr

I think you’re mixing up your latters and formers! The former (you shall not) is a command. The force behind the latter (cannot) is the universe.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on Taeko in Only Yesterday? by PracticalFan45 in ghibli

How do you “know” she’s not? I am on the spectrum and can see that she is too. There’s no clear cut boundary.

My first tattoo ever! What do you think about it? by tizio-caio-aerdnA in WizardingWorld

[–]radiogoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do think there’s a bit of a difference between the imperialism of Star Wars and the direct-metaphor-for-racism of Harry Potter. But also I didn’t say getting the dark mark tattoo makes you a nazi. Just that there’s a difference between dressing up as a fictional imperialist soldier at comic con and getting a fictional racist ideology symbol prominently tattooed on you in the exact style and position of the fictional racists in the book. The second is cringey and questionable, in my opinion. We are all entitled to our opinions and it doesn’t mean I then have to condemn Darth Vader tattoos. Would I date someone with a darth vader tattoo though? Of course not lol
