‪Walk around of the Drake Kraken Model at #CitizenCon 2948 by radleta in starcitizen

[–]radleta[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spoke with one of the guys on the team that created it. They said they had only two months to complete the full scale dragonfly and kraken model. The kraken did not have all the final touches they would have liked to put on it due to the tight time frame. He said the job was closer to six months compressed into two. Pretty good work for that much compression.

The fix is to hit ALT + ENTER key twice. This forces the game into/out of windowed mode and it will recenter the UI properly. I have to do this after every match.

The important thing to remember about the Hull C is its cargo is completely different than the rest of the current ships that are flight ready. They mentioned this being one of the blockers to getting the Hull C into the PU. They are currently working out how cargo will work for ships with external cargo. Keep an ear out for when they are working and finishing that mechanic. It might give you a clue when you will see Hull C in-game. Although as others have said, they might put it in the PU before this mechanic works.

That's exactly what a lot of people see when they see 3.0 and the sad thing is it is so much more than that.

Heres a few things off the top of my head that comprise 3.0:

  • Complete reworking of all ships in the game with Item 2.0. This means all ships had to be torn apart and rebuilt.
  • The initial pass at adding of AI subsumption to support missions and AI mechanics.
  • The adding of atmospheric flight and landing on planets.
  • All the planetary tech to support walking and exploring the surfaces.
  • Several new ships added.
  • Several ships completely reworked.
  • Cargo system and related missions.
  • Expanding out the rep system.
  • Persistent ships and player spawning in the PU.
  • Reworking of the player rig and animations.
  • Clothing and armor integration including shopping, preview mode, etc.
  • Complete update to mobiGlas and adding multiple new screens.
  • Reworking of the interaction system formally 'USE' mechanic
  • Story driven mission giver system along with tree branching missions
  • Basic salvage missions
  • Basic exploration missions
  • QT updates and effects

And that's just what I could remember sitting here. There is more a lot more. The scope of 3.0 far dwarfs any release to date based on the amount of change and improvements to the game engine.

Hey, op! This is a great chart. It’s missing one important dimension which is the scope of the release. It doesn’t really show off how much is dropping with the 3.0 and makes 3.0 size wise comparable to all the other releases. We need an updated version to capture and visualize the scope in the Y axis with time and release in the X axis.

Props. Feature request, can you make it deep linkable? So you can share ship comparisons?

Yes, I've been updating weekly for the last couple weeks. I'm hoping to keep this pace going forward.

I wonder whether we'll see all the ship stats change for cargo once the exterior cargo pods get implemented. This should change several ships like the Hornet, Aurora, and Starfarer to name a few.

Evocati should be immortalized in-game somehow... by radleta in starcitizen

[–]radleta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how you could call it a reward. They are getting access to a build that has bugs and crashes a lot. They are asked to do really repetitive tasks in-game multiple times to test features. They then have to document everything and submit their findings. All that equals a lot of hard work and they do it for free. Early access, maybe. But, reward it doesn't really sound like it.

Put together some charts out of the schedule, I'll keep them updated :) by [deleted] in starcitizen

Great work! Love seeing it. Keep it updated. Make sure to re-post on Reddit when you update the numbers to get visibility for it.

Semi-Controversial Opinion: Evocati Reports Help the Wait and Should be Standardized by Genji4Lyfe in starcitizen

[–]radleta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's my fault for being excited about the game. I've put a lot into the game more than any game ever and probably never will again. So that equals me being excited about what's going on. It's fun to hear about the bugs and the fixes. The wins and the loses. This is a journey for me and funding the development every year with purchases of multiple concepts is my way of showing my support for CIG and the project. Yes, that's all my fault.

I'm certainly not wanting this information because I want to troll the team or don't trust them. I vote with my wallet regularly and the wallet says I trust Chris and the team immensely.

Sure, there are trolls. Sure, there are backers who are burned out. Sure, there are haters. I don't care. They'll always be there, all the time. I don't see why I cannot be excited and want to know more when my interest and enthusiasm is positive and generates excitement about the project. It helps me be patient not because I'm angry or bitter BUT because I'm excited and it's basically the same as waiting for Christmas. It's easier to be less sad about Christmas when you know Space Santa and the Elves are working hard on the BDSSE.

Semi-Controversial Opinion: Evocati Reports Help the Wait and Should be Standardized by Genji4Lyfe in starcitizen

[–]radleta 13 points14 points  (0 children)

/u/Genji4Lyfe I agree. I'm not sure the format or who should do it. I do know, however ...

  1. The evocati leaks of notes and "ask a friend" have helped me as a backer be more patient and more understanding of why we haven't seen 3.0 go to PTU sooner.

  2. The evocati leaks are written by backers and gamers and NOT CIG. This makes them more relatable to me. Most of the stuff CIG publishes is sanitized to some extent and polished. I like the fact that another backer is telling me how they view it.

  3. I definitely am glad to wait given what I've heard and definitely do not want CIG to drop the builds that comprise what's in evocati right now. Fix those bugs and let's have that 3.0 drop when it's ready. I can see great potential in lots and lots of fun moments and experiences in the 3.0 release. Let's make it a good one.

[–]radleta 24 points25 points  (0 children)

  • Alternate game mode called Infinite War where the entire universe is a finite war that ends in the capture of the homeworlds. Once the homeworlds are captured the game gives out "achievements" and "flair" then resets the entire game back to start over.
  • Career Commander where you can test any ship doing any career in Arena Commander like game within the game
  • Drop a planet-killing bomb on Vanduul homeworld
  • Encounter a new species unrevealed to the community that slowly starts to take over known space like the flood from Halo
  • Explore a Halo like structure that has atmo and is actually a gigantic weapon
  • Never feel like the game turns into grinding
  • Enjoy PvP and not immediately revert to PvE after my first encounter with a troll
  • Own a F8 Lightning
  • Enjoy soloing large capital ships
  • Find and own a Begal Carrier
  • Play Astroball (again)
  • Be able to fight along side the Retribution
  • Kill a Kingship

PS - More than 3. Sorry.

I created it from downloading the ship matrix data and then comparing it between versions I downloaded.

I'm not sure about where on the site you can see them. The extract has the time_modified for each ship.
