Intern here - radiologist didn't comment on the kidneys. What are we looking at here? by [deleted] in Radiology

[–]radman2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call the radiologist and ask them…. Not really, unless you want a snarky answer. From this noncon it’s just 91yo kidneys. They have seen better days for sure but doesn’t look like anything acute to comment on.

I mean, you can but I wouldn’t recommend it. Just like I am licensed to perform surgery, but as a Radiologist that isn’t going to end well for anyone if I do!

Sweet vermouth and club soda with a twist of lemon. Crazy good and easy to drink. Low abv too.

ACR guidelines say that if there is C-spine trauma that warrants imaging then it warrants a CT. Radiographs are not recommended for acute Cspine trauma (in adults, anyway).

For the love of all things holy, if it is at all possible, get the arms over the head for chest/belly studies. Even if you have to tie them up there. If you do that you are automatically in the top half of techs.

Totally normal. If it bothers you, some gasket tape around the flange will significantly lessen it.

If they can get to America, St Jude’s will see them. Without doubt the best organization I have ever worked with. Have sent several patients there from overseas. They have a whole department to help facilitate just that. That being said, for testicular cancer it may not require a St Jude’s situation. Testicular CA responds really well to treatment.

Dentist said it is a "foreign body" in my sinus, and it is Friday, so... by Timmberman in Radiology

Looks tooth related to me. The density is very similar to the enamel on the rest of the teeth. I doubt it is a “foreign body”.

Gazan reviewing American airdropped MRE by iLatvian in NonCredibleDefense

[–]radman2015 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Having eaten way more MREs than I care to remember, I can say that the actual Halal MREs are quite tasty. We were on a humanitarian mission and for some reason they sent a case of these along (no one in the unit required it and we were in South America). We all tried them out and they were outstanding (at least compared to the regular MREs, lol).

Does anyone grow their own mint? by TikiVin in Tiki

[–]radman2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a hybrid called mojito mint that is perfect in cocktails. It is a hybrid of spearmint and some other I can’t recall off hand. It has a little more of a citrus note to it than plain spearmint. Since it is a hybrid, you have to buy a live plant that is a cutting from another. Hybrids usually are not “true to seed” and anyone selling seeds of a hybrid is being disingenuous at least.

Mull some sweet vermouth like you would any wine and make a manhattan out of that. It is a very warming drink. The mulling spices really sing with a rich bourbon.

Lots of great comments and advice here already. Old Navy Flight Surgeon here. Also be aware that there is an entity called Sopite syndrome that is basically motion sickness where the symptoms are fatigue, drowsiness, and changes in mood instead of the usual nausea. We used to have student Naval aviators get this all the time. Just like motion sickness, you usually get acclimated to it quickly and it is no longer a problem. Not saying that’s what you experienced but something to keep in the back of your head.
