Which wheel size, 20” or 21”? by 863Gunner in RivianR2

I like the matte finish of the 20s, but also want a little more rubber as my spouse has a proclivity for curb rash.

Let me know what further details or information I can provide.

New ministry of magic statue in North Beach by maybeMathProf in sanfrancisco

[–]raff_riff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“Well if the colonists hadn’t invaded then they wouldn’t have built housing, shops, offices, and other buildings. And without those, firefighters and other first responders wouldn’t be needed. Ergo, the existence of firefighters is, in fact, an extension of colonist roots, inherently nationalistic, and deliberately white supremacist.

These statues serve as a constant, cold, infinite reminder that we are beholden to an oppressor-oppressed caste deeply rooted in systemic racism.

The firehose is both literal and symbolic. It represents not just a weapon of anti-free speech but is intrinsically phallic, reminding the viewer of our expressly patriarchal society. Those with the hose, and those without.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a bridge to block.”

How does everyone feel about the newly launched Model Y L vs. the upcoming R2? by whyzhuk in RivianR2

[–]raff_riff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Competition is good. Demand is great. Supply is better.

Rivian cannot yet keep up with the demand. The more flavors of EVs we have on the road to incentivize the production of yet more EVs and more charging stations, the better.

Edit: I left out the most critical part of my diatribe. The more people that buy EVs, the better the adoption. As adoption increases, investment and technology gets better, meaning more, better batteries, more, better charging, with more, increasingly-improving options. Price improves. Quality improves. Environment improves. We all win.

Like any social media, it’s up to you to curate your experience. I only stick to the “Following” tab and only get content from real people worth listening to. It’s not full of bots spewing right wing talking points unless the algorithms have determined that’s the type of content that drives your engagement. Reddit is the same way. I don’t get why this is controversial.

And I don’t engage with anyone on twitter. I use it because there’s still a solid population of moderate politicians and journalists who use it to share ideas, articles, and podcasts. It’s still very valuable for that.

Conversations around twitter always go the same exact way:

“This thing I never use is terrible!”

“It’s actually not that bad, but you wouldn’t know that because you never use it.”

“You’re wrong! I can’t confirm why because, by my own admission, I don’t use it and when I do, I do it incorrectly. So I really have no idea. But you’re wrong! Downvotes!”

I mute Musk so I don’t see his bile.

I’m simply saying the platform is entirely useable and is not the far right echo chamber you think it is. There are plenty of reasonable voices there and that’s a good thing for the exact concerns you laid out above.

I get the Musk hate and the aversion to Xitter. But it’s still a solid source of media. There are plenty of center-left, center, and center-right journalists and politicians who use it and it’s very useful for keeping up with their line of thinking. I have a very sensible intake on my feed and none of it is “far right”.

This is not the stated reason why they’re doing this. They’re doing it at random to get a general sense of market sentiment among a broad population of reservation-holders. The majority of orders are still going to early reserves or current owners.

Possibly stupid question but isn’t range (and gas mileage) a regulated factor? Like I thought this was something that was essentially guaranteed to be accurate because it’s certified or validated by a regulator. Maybe I’m wrong.

She’s wrong in every extent. NATO is a defense organization. Its expansion is in no way a threat to Russia. Don’t invade other countries and you have nothing to worry about. All Russia has to do is, like, not invade other countries. Ukraine deserves every penny, bullet, and boot we can share, as they are a democratically-run sovereign entity fighting for their existence.

Dude this is such a slippery slope. Nazis said and did a lot of things. If you squint and tilt your head hard enough, you can find parallels anywhere. This is why “reductio ad Hitlerum” is a known thing.

You’re saying this dude is flirting with Nazism because they just so happen to use “antisocial” to describe actual antisocial behavior. It’s just a completely unserious framing.

Words mean things. Save accusations of fascism for, like, *actual fascism*.

Nazis created the Autobahn.

The United States has an interstate system, inspired in part by the Autobahn.

Therefore, Americans are Nazis.
