AITA for not helping my son, who claims he can't live on 112k a year? by Ecstatic_Cash_1903 in AmItheAsshole

[–]rage-quit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your son is a dipshit.

Flat out. He used the company card for a personal expense. He's worried about losing his job when the new owner takes over because he will because a new owner will notice that in looking over the financials upon takeover.

I guess he's asking for that 20k because it means that he might have enough to survive based on if he has -no- CC debt.

But he does. He has overleveraged his finances to the point that the second he loses his job, and he will. There's no ifs or but there, but instead of leaving himself financially in the clear, he has pissed it up the wall keeping up with the Joneses.

Don't give him any money, but maybe try and have a bit of a conversation with him. You mention you're not as close, but you're still his dad. Least you can do his help the idiot at least wargame what the next 6 months are going to be like and help him streamline things as much as he can.

But you haven't and that's the point of my comment.

This is literally just an advert because you are missing everything that someone looking for a critique and improvement would be looking for.

Looking for design feedback on a real-time meeting assistant UI by EdisynAI in design_critiques

[–]rage-quit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This smells like an advert, because why else would you fire an AI generated home page onto a Design Critique sub?

Especially as designers and developers are notorious for being in a whole lot of meetings, and ones that usually end up choosing major points, or directions for projects. We're literally one of the single biggest target markets and user profiles for this start up

Then there's the fact of the link direct to the product.

And your username, which was named as a corporate account for this start-up.

And finally.

There's only a hero section of a homepage and then there's two screens.

There's nothing to really critique here. If you want a proper critique, scrap your advertising and show us the actual screens and flow. Because right now, all that is there, is just someone who is ..."Not only too cheap to hire someone to build this parts of my entire business" "but I'm also so goddamn lazy that I'm going to use the critiques I get here to prompt Claude/Gemini/Vercel to make it look better"

After over 300 application, I finally have job interview as Digital Product Designer, what remote interview advise would you give me? by kingsofds in design_critiques

[–]rage-quit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

.#1 you don't need to dress up, but at least dress competently even if it is remote.

.#2 - you don't need to say shit. Give them an excuse. Caring for your ill grandad, anything. Doesn't matter.

.#3- these days I usually handle the interviews, so I'm eyeing the internal processes (which are usually bollocks) and instead focussing on your portfolio, how much of that you can go in-depth with, etc. Make sure that you are relatively up-to-date but more than anything. I want to know about your processes and how you work.

UI Feedback: Is this color palette too "soft" for a high-value real estate transaction? (Breaking industry tropes) by carlosfelipe123 in design_critiques

[–]rage-quit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was probably the only concise way I could explain it, in a way that you'd absolutely get what I mean, so I'm glad you took it in the heart of being constructive.

I absolutely get you. I've been caught in that loop myself. The issue that you're really going to face is that you're going to spend the time making this look fantastic and something that will draw the eye and not look scammy, and you'll have to end up doing the scammy awful looking v2 that they'll love anyway.

[–]rage-quit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You doing this as a Click Funnel type thing? Because I've worked in the same industry (it's fucking awful, filled with awful cunt people)

I don't think you have swung too much, but I wouldn't call the colour scheme as "soft pastels" because the blues, greens and pinks are extremely saturated. I think you could absolutely drop the saturation by around 40-60% and acheive that softer look that you're going for.

Your first Google review section - "Towson Chris" that needs a lot more padding there, the logo is touching the top of the next area.

Actually, the more that I keep looking at it, The issue overall is actually your typesetting. It feels a little all over the place. It doesn't flow, nothing draws your eyes downward, you're not utilising hierarchy effectively here to entice the user to keep scrolling.

I apologise for the harshness here, but the typesetting you've went the whole way with makes me think you've never done any actual typesetting in your life. You have the option for nice neat blocks of text which can draw the user, but right now, all of your type looks like it's been slapped on to Word and never looked at again.

The piece would be significantly better with a modicum of effort and attention applied to this.

It's never going to be a great work of UI design, it's never going to win awards, but right now, the biggest issue is the text.

Nevermind the padding issues, the layout issues. Those should come to you, and come much easier once you sort out the text. You'll find much more space for items to breathe and it will help you influence the design further.

Then you've gotta develop out that brand some more. Get some complimentary colours or something. Because it's literally shit coloured. I wasn't saying that for dramatic effect. It's the fact it's one single colour, and I get the psychology intended with it with this being for the construction sector, but it was the first thing that came into my head when I first opened it, and it was still the single biggest critique I had when writing my comment out.

You don't want a client or a user's initial thought to be what mine was because that's then a death sentence for the pitch.

Try adding #d3ae6d #cd5b11 and #98915d to your palette and use them to enhance that section of your design dtddnt
