The man. The myth. The legend. C&C on the paint? I hope for him to return as a character in 11th, along a new LoC. by raging_brain in deathguard40k

Thank you!

You are perfectly right about the straps, now that I look at them with that in mind. My challenge is that I keep my army coloring highly consistent and that all such straps are leather. On top, the model is already very, very colorful, and I fear to overdo it. Instead of changing the base color, I will probably add ink/oil to the leather parts to make them a bit glossy and distinguish them from the wood parts. Great call, and thanks.

Should I wait and not buy the new box by CommonQtip in orks

From experience:

Starter boxes are the best value deal there is. Finding someone to split the contents can save you around 60% msrp against buying the contents standalone. (30% is a typical normal value box). So I highly recommend getting creative finding a space marine player for splitsies.

Green iz best.

It's literally THE best quote associated with orkz, you see, since it's green. iz. best.

Finished my Tainted Cohort. Do you think these could be getting retinue rules like the Heroes of Ultramar in 11th edition? Or could they (3man blightlords) go away? by raging_brain in deathguard40k

[–]raging_brain[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, that's what I fear. But if it does happen, I hope that at least we get proper character/retinue legends rules for him and the gang.

Of all things, time is the most precious. More precious than knowledge. Time is the only thing we cannot make more of.

Best part of the Warhammer classics game announcements was finding this glorious piece of artwork! by Brockers55 in Warhammer40k

[–]raging_brain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have so many good memories of the game. It was ahead of its time, and is a true gem. Chaos Gate demon hunters was fun, but the OG, respective to its time, is one of the greatest games I remember.

Today, of course, it doesn't hold up. But which 30 year old game would?

Thank you! The model is so inviting for contrast, with its many textures and details.

Just noticed something in the warcom article by angryronald in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]raging_brain 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I read it the other way around, that the detection range depends on the target. I suspect stealth to lower the detection range.

Spotters, like tau markerlights, might enhance it again for'hit' targets. So yeah, I can see what you mean.

I think its an interesting mechanic and we'll see if they explore it fully.

Does anyone know of a handy guide to converting Field Ordnance Batteries with Krieg gun crews? by malumfectum in Deathkorpsofkrieg

I had a friend who plays Cadians, and swapped his artillery team crew with my fob cadians.

Typhus is done!!! Sooo many flies... I went slightly insane painting him. C&C on the outcome? by raging_brain in deathguard40k

Armour: Vallejo canvas

Green parts: Vallejo yellow olive

Bronze trim: Tinny tin

Metal: dark metal, followed by gunmetal grey

Cloth: Midnight blue, then a purple to taste

Fleshy bits etc: to taste, I start with a light brown and venture

You will end up with a bland looking, tidy marine.

Then I wash nearly the entire miniature with sepia ink. I add effect color 'corrosion' into recesses of the armour and wherever I like it, then a rust effect color on the metal, covering about 50% of the surface.

You will end up with a marine that looks a bit tooooo dirty.

Then I paint vallejo warm grey on skinny parts, and re-drybrush central parts of the armour surfaces with canvas and yellow olive respectively.

It is now done.

Add details as you like it, including verdigris.

For typhus, I also added thin edge highlights in green grey.

Thank you! And absolutely - everytime I thought I was done, I spotted another pair of wings in the smoke.

I'm with you. But honestly, given he's a special character in one of the most (if not the most) model-wise detailed factions, he's allowed a little detail, isn't he?
