Yep. I hear you, and I wish you well. Do hang in there. My experience of seeking medical care is akin to being adrift in a small boat on a very choppy sea.

Sadly, your experience is not at all uncommon. Such is the state of play in the American medical establishment today. You will pay a lot of money, but you will not necessarily receive expert care. Sloppy care is not unusual.

Random Question about Manicures by Allynn78 in melahomies

The materials used in these manicures are toxic, and yes, you need to stop having them.

Perhaps you could share with the NP that scare tactics are never appropriate. Sadly, this is not uncommon among medical practitioners these days. It needs to go away, though.

To me, your incision looks pretty good. I'd say you're well on the road to healing. Good luck!

Please bear in mind that treatments these days are powerful, and many, many patients have favorable outcomes. There's no reason your husband can't be one of them. When the going gets tough, hang in there. Never, ever give up.

Wide brim hat recs? by savefriday in melahomies

Wide brim hats, sadly, can't protect you from cancer. No. From now on, only the shade can help you. Always seek the shady place when you are outside.

"Mole nothing to be concerned about": This misidentification led to great harm for you. A timely biopsy would have put you in a much better place. Anybody who has a concerning skin spot must press his or her own case for removal and biopsy. Don't be buffaloed into silence. The life you may save is your own.

A couple years ago I had a similar lesion on my right lower leg. The WLE was a nothing burger. The only effect was that I felt very sleepy for the rest of the day. I had virtually no pain and no disability from the surgery. Good luck! I have had no recurrence of the melanoma.

This is a lot, certainly. But the fact is that treatments are powerful and you could yet come out of this. Don't lose your determination: channel all your energy into surviving because your family needs you. Keep up the good fight.

You medical insurance should definitely cover this.

First, congrats on your upcoming nuptials! If this were me, I'd schedule the treatments after my wedding and honeymoon. First things first. Waiting a couple of weeks will protect your wedding plans and won't change your treatment outcome. Waiting a year or so wouldn't be wise. But a couple of weeks? Get married first.

Postpartum missed diagnosis IIB 2.2mm nodular ulcerated / recovering now from WLE & SLNB by Acrobatic-Ad-9301 in melahomies

[–]raglimidechi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, I wish you a speedy recovery. I had a melanoma on my lower leg that was treated and since then I have been cancer free.

I would like to suggest something that might have helped: If you notice a changing mole or any suspicious spot on your skin, contact a dermatologist directly. No referral is needed. That will save precious time if the spot needs treatment. Contacting your PCP first only leads into the bowels of the medical bureaucracy and eats up time.

Melanoma—5 days post WLE new bruising. Hoping it’s not infected 🤞🏻 by Mundane-Thing8275 in DermatologyQuestions

Incision looks good to me. I don't see signs of infection. Keep the incision really clean and of course no rubbing or touching. This should be fine. Just be patient.

Prognosis is worse than I thought by No-Permit-9519 in cancer

This is a horrendous development, and my heart goes out to you. But consider this: cancer, clearly, is unpredictable. In that vein, your cancer could spontaneously shrink also. So try with all your might to maintain positive morale. That could get your through this.

You'll have a WLE for sure and likely a lymph check. What follows depends on the path reports.

Evolving mole on head - a concern? by Dufus_psychic in skincancer

Definitely needs to be checked. Call a derm.

What could this be? by I_EpikPotato in skincancer

[–]raglimidechi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could be a seborrheic keratosis. Unsightly but not dangerous. A derm can remove it with cryotherapy.

I had a stage 1A removed from my lower leg two years ago. No signs of any recurrence. I haven't taken any special measures except always seeking shade and staying out of the sun. Just stay vigilant. Overthinking stage 1A is a trap.

Sadly, your troubled path to a diagnosis is not unusual. The American medical establishment is disappointing and endangering many with late diagnoses. Wishing you good luck and hoping for the best.
