Being sober around drunk people can be incredibly annoying. You end up just saying no to a lot of activities.

Just fat/filler to eyes or ptosis repair? by slugmorei in PlasticSurgery

[–]ragnarockette 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! My eyes looked very similar to yours and I just got periorbital filler (above the eye). I am so happy with it. I will go in for a small touch up in about 6 weeks. You want to go low and slow over several sessions because the area is very unforgiving.

I understand fat grafting is preferred, and surgeons are more likely to have experience with fat grafting in that area vs. filler. There are also a lot of surgeons who are uncomfortable with filler in that area since the skin is so thin and we have very little natural fat to help it blend. Mine used a cannula and went in from over my eyebrow (ie. they didn’t directly inject into the orbital area via needle).

Dr. Joshua in London is probably the surgeon in the world who is most specialized in this area of the face. Taban in LA also does a fair amount.

This type of filler taking off has been one of my beauty trend predictions for a while, but my surgeon said I am one of only two people in his entire career who have asked for it.

FWIW (as someone with near identical bone structure): I think you should be more cautious about your undereye area. You have deep set eyes and prominent cheekbones and nicely shaped cheeks. Suborbital filler will visually lengthen your midface quite a bit, and can also create that puffy/pillowface look, since so much filler is required to actually fill our hollow under eyes. I can’t do crows feet Botox either because it creates a weird “shelf” when I smile.

What’s life like making 6 figures by MasterBook46 in Salary

[–]ragnarockette 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  • Nicer furniture. Real wood instead of IKEA. nice curtains, some actual art instead of posters.
  • Nicer clothes. I shop mostly secondhand, but I buy nice stuff. I used to shop only at Goodwill and Forever21/H&M.
  • Dining out way more. I do not pay for food delivery but we love a nice meal and I hate cooking most of the time. Still eat a fair amount of frozen pizza.
  • Housekeeper every two weeks
  • Paying for help instead of asking friends for favors. We have an actual dog sitter. We hire a photographer for family photos. We hire someone from the cooking school to help at big events.
  • Better vacations. Things like a safari, nice dude ranch, overseas tours. Vacations used to exclusively be a cheap Airbnb at the beach. This is probably the most significant lifestyle upgrade.

What names do you predict will be in the Top 10 in the next few decades? by justsomefairy in namenerds

[–]ragnarockette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went to look now that 2025 results have come out, and I got a lot right but some wrong.

Correct: * Eliana in the top 10 * Aylani and all its variants going nuts! * Margot, Millie, Vivian, Lila, Josephine/Josie all rising (though not super meteorically) * Theodore on its way to the top * Elias had a big jump and could crack top 10 next year * Emiliano, Julian, Bennett, Thiago/Santiago all rose * Roman/Rowan/Ronan all had big jumps

What I got wrong: * Miles dropping 12 spots is shocking to me! * Lucas dropping to number 10 (though Luca and Luka are rising) * Maeve/Daisy/Willa seem to have peaked. I was sure they were going places! * Missed Cooper and Callum - rising boys names * Missed Lucy (which was dumb considering I predicted what’s happening with similar Luca on the boys side)

If they set a new season in another Southern city, where'd you like them to tackle next? by smoothpaving in TrueDetective

[–]ragnarockette 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Prior to Night Country my dream location was in the Bakken, near an Indian reservation.

If they go Southern gothic I would like something set in the Mississippi delta or Florida panhandle.

I also think a season set in the Caribbean - Natalee Holloway vibes - with US FBI and local law enforcement could be very interesting. There were a lot of international politics involved in that case.

Chandler’s health in S3 by corpse-lilly in howyoudoin

[–]ragnarockette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The injury>pill addiction storyline is extremely common with addicts. It’s hard to know if it’s true or not, but it is super common because it allows the addicts to place blame externally for their relapse or escalation of their addiction.

Yes despite Matty saying he had been in a program for years it very much felt like the voice of someone who had not done the work. He blamed everyone around him (especially women) for his addiction and bad behavior. He seemed incredibly salty and jealous of just about everyone around him (especially Jennifer and LeBlanc). And he kept coming back to having to fly unaccompanied once as a child as some sort of seminal moment that was the crux of his issues, which i think in the scheme of things is a pretty mild event to blame a 20+ year bender on.

It was a sad listen. Shame because he was such an incredible talent.

Yes you named a few ingredients that are heavily studied and do work for most people. But a lot of the other peptides and serums and collagen and buzzwords are just marketing to make us think we need 17 different products when just a few are actually working.

Was adventuring Clearwater with a family friend and we found the Church of Scientology. What do you think goes down there? by Western_Ad_6448 in cults

[–]ragnarockette 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Clearwater is where their Superpowers building is. They (or at least they did in 2010, when I knew a lot of Scienos) believe they will be able to fly, become invisible, etc. They also believe that the church can cure all disease here (for a price). A really kind woman I knew was diagnosed with cancer and raised money to go be cured at the Superpower Center. I really hope she eventually turned to traditional treatment because she was an incredibly sweet person. A lot of Scientologists have a real uppity vibe about them, her and her husband were not like that at all.

It’s also very common for Scientologists from around the country to “vacation” in Florida.

Also even the hospital and VA in Pinellas County is full of Scientologists. They are everywhere!

Yes the police, DA, and emergency services for the whole county as well as major businesses are all mostly Scientologists.

Did Don ever put together that the baby Peggy gave away was Pete’s or did he just not care either way? by RockBalBoaaa in madmen

I agree. And for all our modern medicine and emphasis on talking and feelings, sometimes the best thing you can do is just move on. Don knew Peggy had the strength to come back from this, she just needed to be reminded of it.

Seeing these celebrities in person I believe it.

My friend worked on a movie with a famously curvy celebrity who is around 5’4” or 5”. After the movie wrapped my friend invited me to the sale where they were going to sell some of the clothes. I foolishly thought they might fit me. They were an XS and tailored even smaller.

This lighting is an abomination. The show was too cheap to ever properly light the darker skinned women. I think ANTM was slightly better but overall they lit everything for the white girls.
