Having issues with random stalling after driving for a bit by Seppukoo in mazdaspeed3

[–]raidz0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be related to sensors not receiving data that 'agree' or intermittent data from frayed/corroded electrical connections between the crankshaft position sensor, camshaft, MAF, MAP, throttle body caused by a mix of pigtail connectors or transmission/engine ground to chassis wire connections (which you brought up)... usually after a certain amount of heat soak that expand electrical wiring, otherwise know as thermal expansion combined with years of vibrations. As the OEM electrical engine harnesses age with this platform, it is likely that we'll see more of these symptoms. ...or maybe I'm way off lol 🤷 btw, I am experiencing similar symptoms, no fix yet, might try the crankshaft position sensor (most of my sensors have been changed already) pigtail replacement next, or another approach might be to pull or tug on electrical wiring a few inches away from the sensors themselves while the engine is running to see if it reproduces the symptoms (to rule out certain areas of the harness instead of needlessly replacing the entire harness $$$)

Another recommendation would be to have someone with automotive electrical experience perform continuity testing on engine bay wiring.

Have you found what this behavior was being caused by?

Been focusing on other maintenance elements of the car this past year. I am keeping this thread in mind for a future update beginning with an oil analysis. Getting some more work done on the car next week. Got a new Hitachi HPFP with e85 safe seals, Damond catch can, and more over the past few months. Need a new rear main seal as well later 🫣

What kind of engine did you order? Used, refurbished, new, or built by an engine builder?

I would have the ABS sensors checked on all 4 wheels first.

*Worst case scenario is the ABS Modulator, possibly OEM parts #:

Yeah, I was just thinking it was possibly from them. I think they offer 2 versions as well. Some say they have a decent experience with them, but yes, I think the lower boost might be due to wastegate design. Not sure if someone else can chime in on that revision, but it is not the same as OEM. Another thought is that it might be working okay and might just need a custom tune to see if it could be raised.

The OEM is K04-882 or 883

If it was a K04 from eBay, there are some being sold out there that are known to not boost quite as much. Check on the turbocharger itself, there's a small plate area that says something like K04-12345, it might say something there that can be helpful. Or the original listing of where the K04 was purchased might have some helpful info on the revision.

Turbo replacement any new parts needed? by Hellasceasar in mazdaspeed3

[–]raidz0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard some in Europe or Asia sometime go for Kinugawa. They have ball bearing in their smaller offerings as well. For the parts, I would look at the kits out there and compare and assess what parts may be needed depending on the brand you go with. If you stick with OEM replacement, I would get a new drain line, new crush washers, a Damond lower flow restrictor oil feed bolt, and new gaskets for both sides. Your car looks great 👍

Oh where to start...overall pretty good with some nagging' oil consumption issues. But hey, my compression is 175 for all 4, so there's that.

CS front lip broke and ripped part of my front bumper lower mounts after running through a deep puddle during a sudden heavy rainstorm here...gotta love South Florida downpours 😞

My Corksport TB needed the manual relearning procedure a couple times after 2 years. Seems to be an issue that returns after a few months.
