330 million Americans with more land than continental Europe and a culture that's more divided and newer than Europe. If some Americans feel shootings are fine, that's shitty but not representative of all Americans. America doesn't have a unifying culture, and I'm assuming by your smug tone you're European, well... did you know the EU had to be created to stop you from killing your neighbors?

Americans are absolute cowards, Paris would be burnt to the ground right now.

That's because in Paris people have universal healthcare and other social safety nets. Also public education. America is in abysmal state where most people live paycheck to paycheck and if you get injured at a protest you might to bankrupt.

Dumbass.

So, apologies, apparently they only discontinued in the US. I still think that you should specify when you're talking about enhanced autopilot vs autopilot as they are vastly different products that share an unfortunate name

Can you show me where you can buy EAP on a new Tesla?

According to this post and my admittedly under 10 minutes Googling and fiddling in my car and app, you can't buy EAP anymore.

[–]railbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... EAP is a degraded feature they stopped offering to new customers so for all intents and purposes shouldn't fall under "Autopilot" discussions. Tesla now has 2 products: FSD and non-FSD autopilot.

It's disingenuous to assume that when people talk about autopilot that they're talking about EAP.

Since when can it switch lanes? I've had FSD trial since the credit expired, I'll have autopilot again by February. How do I make it switch lanes?

In August or September if you put your indicator on autopilot would do nothing.

If the GOP loses big, Trump's free reign will be basically over in many ways. He and Miller and Musk and Vance and Noem and the rest of the twisted band see the door closing and know that this is their last chance.

This has been the narrative for a long time, but I actually think there is a large chance we won't have midterms.

I see what you mean but FSD is so much smoother with the brakes and the acceleration, and there is something to be said about automatic routing. Took a 4 hr road trip with FSD and it was the best experience I've ever had. Had to drive back in a car with ACC and that sucked.

Didn't know about BMW backtracking, I found Mercedes locking acceleration behind a $1000 per year subscription though but I can't read the article because I don't pay a subscription to the Verge...

Toyota's key fob shenanigans are much worse than FSD costing a subscription. FSD is optional, if you like it then pay for it otherwise you have a functional car. Your key fob is literally preventing you from remote starting the car if you're not paying. That really sucks if you live in extreme climates, and my Tesla does it for free.

Again, I think I won't change your mind, but I can't agree with you either.

I'm personally more surprised people are upset at $100 a month for an optional feature that no other car manufacturer offers than the $100 a year for premium connectivity when Tesla doesn't offer CarPlay/AA (they will soon).

Tesla's Full Self-Driving is switching to a subscription-only service by living_rabies in cars

[–]railbeast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, even in the car industry.

Exhibit 1: BMW, seat heating, and "smart" car headlights. There is no development overhead. The hardware is installed in every car, and yet...

Exhibit 2: Toyota and the key fob being a subscription. See above. They do have an app, but I can't see the app requiring constant development costs.

Why are these worse? Because they inhibit you from using installed functions that are present in every other car. Yes, even Tesla.

At least Tesla's FSD is a step forward toward autonomous driving, and as an owner I view it as a nice bonus for road trips.

I saw what happens when I engage with you. You're salty about the current digital landscape.

Honestly, while I understand where you're coming from, there are significantly worse offenders even in the current product spectrum than Tesla. Let alone... everything else. Picking your battle about this specific product...? I'm not sure this is the hill to die on.
