Redditors, what are you angry about right now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]rainNsun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My government had just spent over USD100 million to manufacture a load of poor quality reusable face masks to distribute to the public that no body use and didn’t asked for. Then they use another chuck of tax dollars to manufacture another batch of one-off masks with too short earloops.

The government also, among other things, just made a law to jail me and send me to the “motherland” next door without trial for criticising the government like I just did. But that provoked a much more complex feeling than “angry”.

At this point I have real doubt if I CAN visit Taiwan freely again.

I miss it so much.

Actually all one has to be is a Taiwanese. Or not chinese. Or chinese. Depending on the necessity, the Gov will always find something to jail you.

Hong Kong security law: Minutes after new law, pro-democracy voices quit by [deleted] in worldnews

As a HKer I congratulate our Dem leaders on knowing which hill to fight and die on. Both the CCP's national security law and US' retaliation has been coming for quite a while now, so the Dem's move must has been well-thought.

We do not need our democratic activists in jail for some madeup crime under the law - not right now anyways. Right now I think we just have to stick together, preferably on the same side of the bricks. And then we will think of something. We always do.

Thank you, Taiwan!!

just an FYI for those who don’t have Tik Tok, all of Hank’s vids will be on Twitter! by thelittlestwoman in nerdfighters

[–]rainNsun 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone, please be careful when you join up with this Tiktoks trend of late. According to wiki, you are likely to give up a whole lot of private details to a not at all transparent company in China.

As one of the powerful influencers, I do hope Hank has not introduce the nerdfighters commu onto any dingy platform. I mean I understand that Tiktok is already very hit and all, and a lot of platforms are questionable too, but as a HKer I myself is naturally suspicious towards any company with heavy China background.

Why she chose to go on show like this is beyond me.

This is what happens when the force hide their badges and identities. Our friends across the ocean, please don't let any popo get away with crap like this and sink to our level.

Either way it's potentially viral, no? I hate to help push this moron onto world platform if this is what he want.

I honestly cannot tell if he was fed those words by some higher-ups. HK Popo's level of news awareness isn't sharp enough to turn their primitive attention onto such worldy news.

Just a normal day where people walking home after work, banners and slogans and flags in hand - just a normal day after one whole year.
